Question: is everyone pretty much settled on what configuration they will be going with?
Basically whatever specs comes with the high-end 15" Retina, so expectidly:
2.7GHZ/512GB/16GB RAM

Although, if the GPU does take a considerable step-backwards, I will have to contemplate plan B & plan C.
Plan B: Purchase the 'early' 2013 high-spec Retina 15" model
Plan C: Go with an iMac/Air combo at a similar price

Most likely a based 13 inch rMBP with max out RAM and at least 512GB SSD. If dGPU is an option, would add it to the cart as well!

I'm waiting for the retina macbook pro's price to go down (as well as for the haswell processors). I am planning on speccing the macbook pro with max ram (15" version), but I am curious, what will the advantages of upping the processor be? I understand RAM is more important? Thanks

Very small improvement only in certain applications, maybe shaving seconds (?) off computations that take minutes. Generally, the "max" option vs. the 2nd highest CPU option are indiscernible in real life.

Refreshed MacBook Pros with Haswell Chips Coming in September?

Japanese website EMSOne [Google translation] (via Mac Otakara) summarizes a report from Taiwan's Want Daily claiming that Apple will launch the next-generation MacBook Pro with Intel’s latest Haswell processors in September of this year.

Mrrmmm with September 10th just over two weeks away, you'd expect atleast a few articles to appear for the Macbook Pro - if it is to be announced on September 10. For example the iPhone 5S/5C have had a couple dozen of articles here on MR.
Hopefully this is the first of many...
Ooh sorry to jinx, but I can see it now:
WWDC upset
Financial call upset
Keynote upset

Then, once people lose their minds, the Haswell Macbook Pro is born.

I've just reported the news.
Since i should go to the university, i need a new rMBP in October. So i can wait, but it's obviously better if they come out in September.

We will be the happiest bunch if this comes out in September! I'm ready to order.

And yet you're going for it, right? The only way I would get the high-end processor would be if I had already maxed out everything else, but I don't think I'm doing that.

Yeah, that's pretty much why I'm going for the highest CPU

******* Yeah!! ***** **** ***** ********!!!!!!

Going to be great if it's true! Take my money!

Does anyone have any more input on why this rumor/article is special?
First rumor I recall seeing in which supplier shipping plans are mentioned. That's the sort of "rumor" which, to me at least, points to a possible release within the month.

it's not.. but it's something to break the monotony.. plus it correlates to Ming Kuo's earlier sept prediction.

Ah yes - and Kuo is supposed to have a "relatively" good track record..

Wait, really? That's interesting. I guess I'm more familiar with shipping plans with the iOS devices..

Yup. I'd say this is as solid as a rumor as we can get. I'm all for the rMBP coming in September, but this means our expenses won't be spread out. If you're buying multiple new Apple products like I am. Oh well.

Man I wonder if a Sept release would give enough time for a maxed out refurbed Haswell to show up by Christmas? lol! :D

Probably not, but could you really wait that long? Screw the money. Anybody who really wants to save money would get one of the good deals on the current rMBP that are going around right now.

I kind of long for those spring/summer apple product releases. Oh well, it's going to be a sensory overloaded September

But I want Haswell and to save money. :D Dude this might be an awesome Fall. :)

I figure I have saved money by holding out and not buying the current rMBP. It has been a long wait.

That's absolutely right! I actual did a similar thing with my tire. Had a nail in it, knew that a shop wouldn't be willing to patch it, so I've been filling it every couple months. Probably saved $200. :D
