Do we have any idea on pricing for the 13'' rMBP?

Will they be estimated at $1499 and $1699, similar to the 2013 13'' rMBP's?

There is "expected high demand"?

Although I can't back up my statement with numbers (no one could except Apple), I believe the 13" is the most sold Apple notebook, and the numbers would likely increase if they ditch the dGPU from the 15". I think the upcoming 13" rMBP would have the best balance of components, price, and portability. If they offer the IGZO screen and 16GB RAM, it would be la crème de la crème... :D

I'm with you there. I just don't think it will get to the point where you will have trouble buying one. I personally can't wait to get a 13-inch rMBP.

I think you'll find it's been a few years since the Mac generated 30% of Apple revenue or profits. I think it's now below 15%. I remember noticing in the last quarterly report that iTunes revenues would soon exceed Mac revenues.

Yeah I was gonna look up the actual figures but was too lazy. And I definitely meant to put revenue. You'll see me editing my posts a lot cus I'm too impatient to review before posting

the cost

if you are going to spend that kind of money it is probably worth the wait
apple must be switching for a reason

For anyone new to this thread, the rumor is that there probably won't be a dGPU in the Haswell rMBP.

What a ugly name Haswell... Intel marketing folks are not very creative in this domain... They should have seeked advice from Apple... :D

That EMSOne report has really snowballed into the media - as shown by a Google news search.
It's like WWDC all over again; articles reporting rumors as facts :p

I guess it is making the 'Great Wait' (August) a little less depressing. Heck, it has even got me excited!

I'd just like to add that it has been 306 days since the rMBP got released. Historically, Macs on average, are on a 340 day life-cycle (excluding the minor bumps). So the day count (approx 323 days) comes very close to that day count, but so does October.
Still on the fence with this one! Don't want another disappointment...

PS Macs have also historically had a 90+/- day variance, just using it as a semi-reliable benchmark.

Actually, it's been 440 days and counting since the rMBP has been released. Not taking into consideration the minor spec bumps. Overdue would be an understatement

Wasn't the t500 released prior to 2010? So that's not really a fair comparison.

Sneaking physical parts out is more difficult because there are bigger components for the MBP. You can't just slip the logic board into your pocket like you can for the iPhone. But as for pictures, that's just as easy. I don't really have an argument as to why we haven't seen photo leaks for the MBP.

Probably because it looks exactly the same the previous gen.

Well I think the idea would that a pic might be sneaked showing a manufacturer of a part we are guessing about, ie graphics chip or screen connector..

But then again do these people get paid for sneaking pictures to the media? If that's the case then I'm sure iPhone pics are worth way more than rMBP pics

Yeah, I think the demand for pictures of the new iPhone makes it worth risking sneaking one. MBPs don't get as much attention, and a picture of the internals is hardly as exciting as a 5C.

So who around here thinks that any of the news/articles we've stumbled upon increases the chances of a dGPU in the rMBP?

No news article increases the probability of a dGPU presence. That decision was made long ago (perceived probability vs actual probability).

Wow, I realize that, dude. I'm talking about *speculation*

::sigh::

So the question you meant to ask was:

Who is more convinced now with the volume of news/rumors coming out that Apple will keep in a dGPU?

::sigh:: :)))

Depends on the context of the article. That last one, since it is just pulling the 755M out of like 30 other random cards in some code, doesn't really increase the probability, at least in my mind.

Given the Geekbench scores and configurations posted a month or so ago, I think a dGPU is very unlikely. But I'm still hoping for a more powerful version of the Iris Pro.

So Apple has a lot of releases coming up. I would assume they will have a September and a mid October event along with silent refreshes. Which products do you think would be released at which event?

I would think they would either do a mobile/entertainment event (iOS 7, iPhones, iPods, iPads, Apple TV) followed by a Mac event (OS X, rMBP, maybe cMBP, Mac mini, iMac, Mac Pro, displays, iWork, iLife, Aperture etc.)

Or

A consumer event (iOS 7, iPhone, iPod, iPad, AppleTV, Mac Mini, iMac, iWork, iLife) followed by a pro event (OS X, rMBP, maybe cMBP, Mac Pro, Displays, Aperture, etc.) OctProBer?

Thoughts?

jafingi posted a few pages back (I've quoted that post below) the same combination of announcements that I believe will happen. IMO it makes more sense to bundle them this way because the Mac line isn't as popular as the iOS line, so they will probably use the iPad to get people to watch the second announcement. The only difference is that I think that Mavericks and iOS 7 might debut together so that Apple can show off the integration and stuff like airdrop between the two.

Maybe this:

September event: iPhone, iOS, rMBP's
October event: iPad, iPad mini with retina, Mac Pro, Mavericks
