They aren't gonna hold off a launch to coincide with an OS. They never have done.

With a new chef this cannot be reason :D I mean now Everything is possible.. and our chef was worried once for *rushing* iMacs (if I don't lie myself)... So... maybe tomorrow... maybe next year... who knows? ;)

Like I mentioned before, Oppenheimer said Apple is on track for a busy fall.

If a "busy fall" only means an updated iPhone and a niche-market Pro machine, Apple has bigger things to worry about.

I can picture it.

What better way to deflect the criticism surrounding the removal of the dGPU from the MBP15 than to focus less on the machine itself and more on the Haswell+Mavrix package inside it?

Its possible, maybe Apple will hold off until Feb 2014 to introduce IGZO panels? Merely speculation of course, but it wouldn't surprise me at this stage.

If they do this, I will cry. Like a three year old. Forever, and ever. Till I have no more tears.

I don't know if you're joking, but I'd say that they're not exactly worried about deflecting criticism from a small crowd of shouters like us.

I could barely get through this post.. :(

March: I need a new laptop. But I'll wait another month or two.
May: Cool, new MBP's coming in June!
June: No new MBP's? Only Air? Oh well, they will come in the summer.
July: No sign of new MBP's. August it will be.
August: Maybe on September 10th? Let's hope so!
September: Ah rats, no mention of new MBP's on iPhone event. October.
October: Still no new MBP's???
November: It just doesn't make sense to buy a laptop now that I could have bought in April!
December: Lonely, lonely Christmas...

Maybe the rMBP is the new MP. :(

They did it with Lion, new MBA and iMacs

The iMac was released 2 months prior to Lion, but you're right about the MBA- I actually didnt know that.

They seem to release new models slightly before the OS release recently (Probably to ensure a stable OS, and to allow time for a quick beta of the new OS on the new model), that said, as you mentioned, they may tie a new model in with the new OS, however, this year it can be said that the Mac Pro is the big new model they'll be pushing.

No signs they'll be updated tomorrow. Usually there are serial numbers, leaked rumors of specs, and the shipping times slip on the website. :(

Oh yeah you're right they released new Mac Minis that day!
Let's hope they release before, I can't wait to give them my money :D

Perhaps. But if hard pressed to guess, I'd say at least 50% of the MBP15 make their selection first and foremost based on power - whether they swim in the same circles as us "shouters" or not. You don't pay that much money for a machine without kicking the tires and asking what's under the hood (Do we?). That leaves the other "uneducated" half getting the machine only because they fear a 13.3" display is too small for their needs and couldn't care less what's inside. (Absolutely nothing to back this up though. :D)

So the more I think about it... if Mavericks compliments the changes to a dGPU-less 15" laptop then Mavericks and Haswell should be presented together as a whole. Just like the MBA was which showed no benchmark gains over its predecessor.

Regardless. I'm just glad I'm a MBP13 user and waiting for Broadwell. :D

So no more leaked benchmarks, no shortages of existing macbook pros at retailers, and no new info since mid august.

Dare I say it - could the new rMBPs be released even AFTER October?

No way. This is pointed out daily on here: no leaks don't mean anything.

The MBA's went from 7 hours to 12 hours ONLY by changing the CPU from Ivy Bridge to Haswell. No dGPU was left out since the previous model didn't have a dGPU as well. The current rMBP achieves 7 hours (as the pre-Haswell MBA did) so it's very likely the Haswell rMBP would achieve 11 hours by only changing the CPU from Ivy Bridge to Haswell. Then something most of you forget: Nvidia optimized their dGPU's too! It's not only Intel who became more power efficient you know. The new GT750m (a worthy runner-up for the current GT650m) has a TDP against 40W and the current 650m has a TDP of 45W.

To conclude: Haswell + GT750m would still be able to achieve more than 11 hours of battery life, maybe 12 hours who knows?

It wasn't really the ONLY thing as you boldly posted lol. They increased the size of the battery.

Not to mention I highly doubt that Haswell + GT750m would be able to achieve more than 11 hours. In fact I don't even think Haswell with Iris Pro will last 11 hours.
