so, what are the chances that our savior... err... the rMBP comes out in October? what are the chances that it doesn't come out at all? is October pretty much a given now? I haven't heard any sources say otherwise... then again I haven't heard many sources about the rMBP at all
Of course there will be a new one. Apple isn't going to stick with ivy bridge for two years in a row, and they certainly will not discontinue the rmbp.

I have absolutely no idea. But I'm pretty sure Apple will stick to around the middle of the month for any possible announcements, because anything too late might send pre-orders (iPads) through to the next month, which would create the perception that it's shipping late or is being delayed. Too early would put it too close to the iPhone pre-orders and orders, which would lose perhaps some potential buyers of the rmbp as they have already just made a big purchase (unlocked iPhone) and probably does not want to buy anything soon, or will just buy a cheap pc laptop.

At least my expenses will be spread out. iPhone next week, and then no money spent on a Mac until at least 30 days later. And then I'm thinking about an iPad.

Expensive fall for all.

Yeah buddy, the display on the current cMBP has been downgraded. I bought one last year and when I got it home and lined it up with my 2009 15", the old one was MUCH sharper and defined. Everything was so vibrant on the old one. So I took the new one back, and they calibrated it but to no avail. That's when I decided to go retina, and I've been waiting for a 2nd generation ever since

Cool story, bro.

You, uh, are aware that MBP screens used to be IPS, and at some point Apple downgraded them to TN, right? I don't know for sure about the 2009 MBPs, but my 2007 certainly has IPS.

It makes a lot of sense that the Mavericks launch and the rMBP launch is together.

My money is on the simultaneous launch.

I would feel quite happy if they can put that fingerprint touch ID into the new Haswell RMBP too. It won't be that hard cause they can already put it into a small phone. And a touchID would be very very convenient to have because we use 10 times more passwords on our computer than in the phone.

What do u guys think?

Probably not until at least next year, if it happens.

So the 24th. I'm down for that.

I really don't think it's going to be delayed beyond 24th. It just 'feels' right this time.

The sept 10th event was a hope against hope kind of a deal.

This was everyone during/before the Sep 10 event.

Yeah, I can't see it going past that either. I'm content with knowing we are only a month or so away. We had to get through June, July, and August. We're almost there.

Well that's very un-Apple.

Yeah, very.

We said that in August too:D Idk, I'm not feeling an October launch, and my gut feeling has so far been wrong each time in predicting the launch, so perhaps October will be the month it comes out.

If not October, then that means never.

Are you implying that Apple would just wait until Broadwell, or that they would go crazy and discontinue the whole retina MacBook Pro lineup, never to be seen again:D

I'm implying that it will be released in October, and there is really no reason it wouldn't be. That was always more logical than September.

So I'm in a little predicament, I have the ability to snag an open box Macbook Retina, I know the person who returned it and it was only used a day so condition is flawless. The Macbook is at $1300 but they are willing to bring it down a bit, it's 256GB. For the sake of saving a couple hundred would it be bad to purchase it or should I wait? I have a Pro already so I don't really NEED a computer, but I could use one.

Wait. Really, wait.
