One look at the spec sheet.

1. QHD+ 3200x1800 IGZO
2. 0.7 inches/4.5lbs
3. Upto 16GB/512GB
4. Quadro K1100M 2GB.
5. Haswell Quad core 4702MQ.

If this has an option for around $2200, I'm sold. Dell has an excellent three year warranty on their business line so that's another factor to consider in the price.

Yes, yes I would.

Unless Apple does something bat **** crazy this year.. say release the Haswell rMBPs in a week. :D

I find it really hard to believe that those specs (assuming its a maxed out option) would retail for $2200. More realistically I would imagine $2500+

And where do you see that it has an IGZO screen? I can't find that info anywhere.

Except for me:D

Whoops, I kinda skimmed through the post:rolleyes:

There's a storm coming. Better get on board. ;)

I'm just glad that there are known processors for what the 13-inch will have. 2.6 i5 would come with the high-end base configuration, obviously.

I don't expect those specs at 2200, I expect a variant, perhaps with 8GB/256GB. I know their lower end option will have a 1080p screen but I"m interested in the QHD+.

Either way, let's see how it goes. Considering a three year warranty, the price might be right.

I really really wish Apple doesn't make this easy for Dell, cause as much as I like Dell business machines (newer ones look fugly as all hell) I don't want to move away from OSX.

But you would move away from OS X just because the Dell machine would be out less than a month before?

I agree. I wish it was as easy to VM Mac OS on a Windows machine as it is to VM Windows on a Mac. :(

That's the thing. I won't :( But if they do offer better specs, it would be very hard not to consider that option, especially given the right price/features.

We shall see, that still not out as of now so can't make a call, but yeah, it would have to be really good.

The only reason I have a feeling that it WILL be really good is because I have a lot of experience working with Dell Latitudes and some with Precisions and both lines have been extremely good machines.

I have no reason to believe Dell will half ass this release. But let's wait and watch.

At this point I can't consider any OS that isn't Mac. But glad to see you are being strong.

LOL, I'm a Linux guy. I can live happily with any distro (preferably Lubuntu) and most probably will end up dual booting with windows 7. The biggest reason I love OSX is because I have the terminal and the polished experience in addition to support for popular apps such as Lightroom. Linux doesn't.

Windows 8 is such a joke I can't even consider that.

OSX is the best of everything for my use case. Combined with awesome hardware, yeah, it's a really good experience.

Edit: You do realize that I'm distracting myself from the Haswell rMBP delay.

This is pretty much why I love OS X too. It's so easy to use no Linux distro I have seen (except maybe Elementary OS but it pretty much had a spare photocopier set to 99% on OS X) understands that the design of the OS is pretty important too. And OS X has such good integration with hardware and software right out of the box. With Linux, you have to spend hours configuring everything which is basically a lot of wasted time.

I can't wait for the rMBP update so I can ditch the Linux machine that I'm using now. :D

I'm hoping for the September 24th update but I know that it will really be updated on October along with Mavericks. We really haven't had anything to suggest that Apple will release it on the 24th of this month except the Kuo prediction but she has been wrong with so many "predictions" that I don't know anymore.

Someone had commented something along 'Kuo me cry now' or something in this thread. It was friction hilarious. :D

Edit: It was the other dGPU vs iGPU thread. :D

Kuo am cry

If you are wanting 13'', wait for haswell. If you want 15'' - saving several hundred dollars and buying now is not a bad option. (if money/time are issues).
im waiting for maxed out ghz min. 16Gb ram (32 would be sweet) and 750GB SSD, min 1.5 GB nvidia graphic card same perf. with latest GTX series.want this one!

Thankfully, I get to leave this thread :D

None of the upgrades I can fathom Apple initiating are things that I need at the current moment in time. I was happy to pick up an early 2013 2.7gHz, 16GB, & 512GB SSD for ~$300 off of Apple's $2,799. Only issue now is the wait for Mavericks so I have better multiscreen support.

Hi, I've been following this thread since page 50, but unfortunately since I absolutely need a notebook now, I bought a Macbook Air. Main reasons why I was waiting for the rMBP was the retina display and Iris Graphics. Well, I'm happy with the Air though I have difficulty with viewing angles.

Good luck to all who can wait, you know more than me that it's worth it.

Aww nice one, I am still waiting, I need one before the end of October, so if no refresh or release of the new RMBP, I'll just go and get the 2013 one instead hmm come on apple release it already and stop keepin us waiting before another manufacturer comes and grab us away lol

I'm desparately waiting for the new 15"

What keeps me away from this generation is the fear of screen problems, Image retention, etc, in hopes that 2nd gen kinks get worked out. (I don't live terribly near an Apple Store so getting any problems serviced would be a nightmare).

Are there any impressions as to whether IR affects the 13" and the 15" screens about equally, or one more than the other?

Also, do you think (and this is pure opinion of course), that the new gen will have the screen issues worked out?

I'm assuming Apple will have ironed out all the problems - that's the whole point in waiting for the 2nd gen. Maybe we'll have new MBPs soon, as the Apple store is down (probably wishful thinking).

Edit: Apple store back online - nothing new.

Well here's a summary for the 13" model (the one I'm interested in).

*snip*

Oh I forget.... F U C K, I want this damn machine!

As for me the difference with the actual rMBP is important. This is a significative upgrade. I'd the opportunity to test for an hour the actual rMBP, it has some lag and difficulties, expecially when opening photos. HD4000 is not enough for the retina display.

CPU
Base: Dual core Intel i5 4258U @2.4Ghz with TurboBoost at 2.9GHz
Optional: Dual core Intel i7 4558U @2.8Ghz, Turboboost at 3.3Ghz.

GPU
Intel HD5100 (Iris)

SSD
Base: 256GB PCIe
Optional: 512, 768, 1 Tb PCIe

RAM
Base: 8Gb DDR3
Optional: 16Gb DDR3

SCREEN: Retina or IGZO Retina

WiFi: 802.11ac

CONNECTIVITY: Thunderbolt 2

CAMERA: Facetime 1080p

BATTERY LIFE: 10 hours

PRICE: Unchanged or, (less likely) slightly reduced (-100$/€).

ANNOUNCED: October 2013

If they would do this, the price gap is justified.

Is there a chance that the rMBP can be used as a touchscreen too? (like the Sony Vaio Pros) I read a lot on my Macbook and would like to scroll and highlight with my rMBP. If MacOS wouldn't be so powerful, I wouldn't buy a rMBP, but i love the OS.

Nope. This is a positive about Macs, IMO. Touch screens can stay away.

If this happen, I will buy the actual generation.

I need a computer to work, not to play.

Touchscreen is useless in a computer, and windows 8 is useless as working OS.

PS: really hope for 256GB, but do not expect it
