Is Apple still using Samsung panels in the current rMBP or have they switched purely to LG?

I suppose it depends on IGZO as to which manufacturer they will use after the refresh.

It is very unlikely that we see any Mac with an IGZO display tomorrow.

I'll sell my rMBP if I can get wireless AC. It will be the biggest improvement for me since I connect to my iTunes from a NAS, and it's pretty laggy with N speeds. AC would help quite a bit.

I also think the display could be a little brighter.

I guess the display will not get any brighter, as it would suck more battery.

I agree but if they are only announced rather than available for purchase I think IGZO is a definite possibility.

I don't think IGZO displays will be out so soon. Sharp announced it would begin manufacturing these displays in June, so availability should be by the end of the year.

Hmmm not so sure... Fujitsu Lifebook UH90 with Ultra HD IGZO 3200 x 1800 display should be available in Japan on June 28.

Hmmm not so sure... Fujitsu unveils its new Lifebook UH90 at Computex. This Ultrabook boasts an Ultra HD IGZO 3200 x 1800 display, Haswell Core i5. The Lifebook UH90 Ultrabook should be available in Japan on June 28.

I believe Fujistu has been releasing 'Retina' quality displays for a very long time. I can't seem to find the information, but they've been releasing them in Japan (only) for just under or over a decade. The market is very small, hence they don't need as much supply. I think it makes more then sense for a Japanese company to feature IGZO displays on their 'niche' laptops before mass-market laptops. :)

I couldn't find anything on these high-resolution Fujitsu displays, and I've kept a reasonably updated list of all these displays here: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1542211/

i won't expect much about getting IGZO or whatever new stuff they're coming out with but rather A DAMN GOOD QUALITY panel.
enough with those ghosting and dead pixels, can we just sort those first before expecting something more :/

Yes, NEC did it, but a long time ago...

its a fujitsu alright. and now we have the acer s7 and the zenbook infinity for you to add to that list, all using IGZO

its already being produced and shipped with, the kirabook is being sold and the new ultrabooks are getting ready to be sold middle to the end of this month

aside that we do have the gt60 dragon super duper edition with 2880*1620 panel, which is dont think its igzo and has a very strange res

It'll be 2 p.m. here. I'll be heading to the airport to catch a plane to NY. And hoping for the Haswell rMBP to be released!

It's already added. I don't think the Aspire S7 and the Zenbook Infinity use IGZO displays. Only the Fujitsu does. They are all added to the list.

yeah really, it wasnt a paper launch, they actually sold it, or something like that.

I think its igzo, they fill out all of the necessary points

I think IGZO will be in the next iMac that will suppose be called retina.
And i think they will have 160-180ppi. And from the normal distance you will not see any pixels.

I remember this time last year when leaked pictures of MacBook Pro carton labels were released and we knew pretty much what was coming. This time around we have nothing but rumours. Have these notebooks been shipped to any Apple Stores and are they ready to be rolled off the shelves? I suspect the new models will be announced today but won't be available immediately.

And did you notice the price of those Iris 5200 Quad-Cores? Has Intel gone nuts? Do they really expect OEMs to dish out that kind of money for those integrated GPUs? Has anyone read anything about dual-core Haswell chips with the Iris 5200GPU option? They would probably be a good bet for the 13" models.

I've just tried configuring a 15" base rMBP with a RAM upgrade to 16GB. Yesterday, it said "Dispatched: 1-3 days", and now it's changed to "2-4 days". Maybe a clue?

Me too, just woke up and flying out to the east coast. That just means I extra hour of waiting. I get there around 11am, so that's 8am pacific and we all know nothing happens at 8am in California.

in my country, shipping times slipping from 5 days to 3 weeks a few days ago but now it returned back to 5 days.
I'm not sure if that indicates anything, but hopefully they release something in this event.

Apple must have gotten smart to this. They can't trust all their stores to keep everything under wraps. I'll bet there are shipments ready to head to stores at this moment.
