how about existing stocks? do they actually supply more than enough stocks to stores and resellers so nobody will suspect upcoming refresh?

Who knows? This is new territory. Apple has changed the way they are doing things to stop rumors. I suppose we will find out in the coming days and weeks just what they've been doing.

I don't think it's IGZO. Only Sharp produces IGZO displays, and this one doesn't match the size and resolution specifications released by Sharp for its upcoming laptops displays.

ah no that msi notebook aint igzo at all, sorry for the confusion, I meant the acer and the asus were igzo

igzo is the new whore in town, everyone wants dibs on it apparently, good for sharp, they will sale past a failed company to a thriving one if it keeps going like that

Based on some of the Haswell Ultrabooks announced over the past couple of weeks, I think all of the technology pieces are there for a retina Macbook Air.

The question would be whether Apple could do it at the price point they would want to hit.

The really interesting part about a retina 13" Macbook Air is what that would mean for the 13" rMBP.

Presumably such an Air would come with one of the ULV chips with either the HD 5000 or Iris 5100 graphics options. A 13" rMBP with HD 4600 graphics wouldn't look very good against that.

Whether it happens today or not I think eventually the 13" rMBP has to go away in favor of a 13" rMBA or take a step up to something like a quad core + Iris Pro setup. Otherwise I don't see the point of its continued existence.

Aaand the store is down for maintenance! :D

Let there be Haswell Macs!! :apple:

My plasma tv is tuned in on the keynote stream. Popcorn ready to me made in the microwave, cold Pepsi in the fridge and I'm just sitting outside in the sun with 25 degrees celsius just waiting for the clock to turn 7PM so I can lock myself in and watch that stream :D

Hopefully some new rMBPs, TCs and AEs!!!

Can TC be utilized as a back-up hard drive or does it only for time machine back-ups? Im a little tired of attaching an external hard drive to my laptop!

You can use the TC as a normal hard drive. I read about someone using it for their iTunes library etc.

Ah! Yes, I house my whole itunes library on my external hard drive, and was wondering if I could just do this with a TC and use my external hard drive as a secondary back up. Hearing mixed signals about TC is only for TM and you must partition the drive in advance and then some say right out of the box it does both w/o partitioning drives

I think you should partition the drive BEFORE using it. When data is written to the HDD, resizing the existing partition will be difficult as the data is fragmented over the whole hard drive. So alway partition on a fresh hard drive.

BUT why not just use the internal hard drive for Time Machine, and then connect your external hard drive with your iTunes library, data etc. to the USB port of the Time Capsule? Then it will show up as a network drive too.

You can even connect a USB hub to the Time Capsule, so you can have multiple hard drives, printers etc. available wirelessly.

I don't have a Time Capsule myself, but many of my friends have, and are doing this without any problems.

So if you're interested, why not take the chance, and if it doesn't work for you, just return it within your 14 day return period? :)

EDIT:

The other option is to keep your current WiFi router and buy a NAS. It makes upgrades easier, and you can have several hard drives (I have one with space for 4 hard drives). Runs really well hosting iTunes library and Time Machine backups too :)

anyone else counting down until WWDC for the MBP announcements?

Currently have a 2009 MBP and can't wait for the upgrade!
How long do you reckon it will take for the Apple Stores to begin carrying the new stock?

Tomorrow or the next day.

Saving Backups on the backedup drive makes no sense :p

Me!

I'll be buying a 15" rMBP (16GB RAM) and base 13" Macbook Air if they're upgraded with Haswell. So I have reserved USD $5100 on my account :D

Take my money, Apple!

Popcorn: ✓
Pepsi Max: ✓
Apple stream on 46" plasma: ✓
Credit card: ✓

Damn it's gonna be great to get my 2008 MBP replaced! :D Sold my '11 iMac last week, so I hope I won't be stuck with this old 13" MBP for long.

Regarding Apple Store, I think they'll be in store Wednesday or Thursday.

I'll be buying online in the Apple Store... Not retail stores in Denmark :( (or... only resellers, but they probably won't get the new machines until July as usual).
