However, if they do release another DP, things are looking bad for an October release of Mavericks and thus for the rMBP.

So, fingers crossed for no more DP's!
I've been using Mavrix diligently since DP1. Even after DP8 there are still lots of issues/quirks that need to be ironed out. I really doubt the GM is near and I suspect Apple is behind schedule (thanks to iOS).

I am ready for Haswell.
You're ready for 8GB of DRAM.

I won't be upgrading to Haswell. My MB is only a little over 2 years old (Base model). Next year probably and I'm not even sure if I can justify that.

This is generally true. If you desire more processing power/speed then I'd recommend an iMac. (But you asked about the 13" MBP).

Wow. You´re strong! Coming here all the time, writing in the "waiting for haswell megathread" and still be able to say "no" to the prrrrrrecious.

I would have bought the iMac if it had got the retina. I think it can´t be that long now. I had one 12/2012 and had to send it back because I didn´t get along with the display. Had serious eyestrain when I worked longer. I almost cried when I gave it back but the virus hasn´t left me since then.
So now it´s the retina plus an external screen.
And maybe in a year or two I´ll add the retina iMac. Or IGZO more like:p

But back to your post: I thought the iMac used mobile parts too, that´s the price for it´s slim figure, right?

Or 16, or 32.. whatever is the maximum possible. :D

It seems like 8GB would be fine for you based on the memory stats you posted, but I can't be sure unless you try an 8GB machine.

I would almost be willing to bet a finger that Apple will not offer a 32GB option for any 13" or 15" Haswell MBP. In the seemingly unlikely, but possible, event that Apple might offer a 17" rMBP, that might possibly have a 32GB option (and two PCIe SSD slots).

I would run even more apps, but it just gets ridiculously slow. And FCP uses as much memory as you throw at it.

I'm not betting on 32GB either. Why do you think it's unlikely (in the 15")?

I can't wait to see the outcry if there is no dGPU.

There will be no outcry, only cry.

But there will be a dGPU, so no cry. :D

That is a rather sadistic thought.

Yes, it is. I will take in pleasure knowing that other people are upset at the removal of the dGPU.

----------

Still no rumors at all regarding rMBP?

And no rumors on October apple event?

I wouldn't expect much rumors to come out, if at all. We will likely just get more rumors about the October 15th event, and then confirmation from Apple via press invite.

But we all know the rMBP is coming in October. Along with the Mac Pro and Mavericks.

Sorry to jump in, but I remember that discussion took place a few hundred pages back. I think it was that the memory chips would need to be doubled from 256MB to 512MB and those Hynix chips aren't ready for mass production, but don't quote me on that.

1. There is currently not even a 16GB option for the 13" rMBP.
2. A few months ago, Apple were still selling Macs with only 2GB of DRAM.

When and in what computer?

I checked and my memory was off a bit. The last new Macs to be sold with 2GB were the 11" MBA in summer 2012 and the Mac mini in late 2012. Refurbished Macs with 2GB were still being sold in the summer of 2013.

It would be a beautiful display for a 17" rMBP. I think a native 1920x1200 on a 15" display makes menu and UI items too small. Of course with a pixel density that high it would scale to lower resolutions without looking lousy.

I'd settle on having the equivalent of the old high-res 1680x1050 native resolution 15" rMBP. But these are all probably unlikely, especially the 17" rMBP.

It does seem unlikely but I still want it. Coming from a 1920x1200 17" to a 1440x900 Retina display is a big step down for me in workspace area. I'll be running my Retina at the equivalent 1920x1200 setting anyway so if they stuck a 4K in there all the better.

Of course I'd prefer them just to shock everyone and bring back the 17" but I'm dreaming now.

My thoughts exactly.

Based on early GT 750M benchmarks, whatever 'outcry' that comes from me will be a muted one at best.

A 17" rMBP would absolutely rule, but I'm not holding my breath. It would probably be exorbitantly priced too considering it would technically be the largest retina display in the Mac product family.

Heck, I'd settle for a 16" display using the same form factor as the current 15" with a thinner bezel. How awesome would that be?

Completly agree! that would be the "Wow factor" we need from Apple @ the next Oct 15th event.

Cuz if Apple will only give us the rMbP as we know it, i mean with the hasswell, the pci-e ssd, and all the stuff we already knew its coming, there wont be any "WOW" from us, or at least from me... Nevertheless, im still gonna buy the rMBP with or without the "Wow Factor":rolleyes:

Cheers from Mexico

Is that when you think the event will take place? Or do you think it will be on the 22nd?

My original prediction was the 22nd, and the only other original rumor is the 15th.. that's why I'm thinking we might hear something a week or two before either the 15th or 22nd.
