Or they could release the rMBP sometime in July with an iMac Haswell update.

On July 27, 2010, they updated the iMacs with Sandy Bridge. What if they do the same this year?

Really?? Were there any other changes to the iMacs in 2010 other than the processor? I guess with the rMBP the refresh would consist of the updated Wireless card and processor. According to reports, there are no internal changes to the MacBook Airs, but yet gave them 10 minutes of airtime during WWDC??

I guess the rMBP next gen it's going to be released "later this year", coming alongside the new Mac Pro. Both will have Thunderbolt 2 (and that's may be one of some or the only reason for the postponement), but Apple only showed a Mac Pro sneak peek because it wasn't updated from years, so they needed to give people a justification for the wait.

I can't wait that long and I would be extremely angry if I had gotten a rMBP right before then. Many people would have gotten one at WWDC 2013 just to find out they updated them a month later like that... That's just terrible.

If we don't see anything like he first week of July, I think we won't see them until October.

i hate the tapered edges, looks hideous to my eyes.

it does not give the "pro" feeling when you look at it, more like toys for typical lightweight users.

the MBPs symmetrical thickness looks nicer.

It's a quadrilateral nightmare!

A boxy, space-hogging slab of computer that needs airing...

This article is about desktop CPUs. I don't plan to overclock my macbook. However, as usual, I would wait for a few reviews before deciding to purchase a laptop with a new processor.

we shouldnt be concerned at all. 1st there is nothing there, 2nd they have HFS which we mobile users dont, and that HFS is being pasted and not soldered anymore

It would be really sad if the rMBP didn't get 700m gpu when it's gonna get updated sometimes later, hopefully before september.

rMBP SSD

I am biting the bullet and will get the rMBP 13",, i've been waiting 5 months and need a laptop as my 2010 MBP is dyeing on me... if Apple refreshed the 13" in october or November time, and it was super duper then i sell and buy a new one by holiday season (Jan),, actually my feeling is telling me the refresh will start shipping not before December which is the best selling month for Apple.

so i have one question about the SSD, can the rMBP SSD be upgraded later, specially from 256GB to 512GB or more? need to know which way to go.
thanks

Yes. OWC makes special ones. They are actually more expensive than Apple's prices though.

It's unfortunate that Apple is slowly doing away with the 13" Macbook Pro. Though I agree with those that think Broadwell can't come soon enough, the MBP deserves the Haswell update.

i hope that apple soon updates the rmbp. otherwise competitors get best chances to increase their sales of newest hardware... no one buys outdated hardware... i hope apple sees this.

yes but apples so called "power user" will sure all notice that the "flagship-lines" dont actually have the newest hardware..

Went to apple store to feel the 13" rMBP and 13" MBA. The MBA is damn sweet but the screen of the rMBP is so damn beautiful that I am not sure I could live with the MBA after having seen it.

Bahhhh.
Im so disappointed that there was no refresh of the rMBP.
Waiting 1-2 months more for Haswell is ok, but not fun.
But having to wait until Oct is just to much.

Ain't the rMBP a really popular model for people to buy before going back to school?
Or am I'm mistaken?
Feels like it would be really strange if Apple waited all the way until autumn to upgrade the rMBP line with Haswell. Only reason i can think of to wait that long is that they want to release the rMBP together with Mavericks. And/or a design update. Cos if it was just a Haswell bump i don't see the reason to not release it now or in the next 1-2 months.
And if they put the MBP line in the autumn line of updates, its gonna be just insane how much stuff their gonna release during that quarter.

I'm not sure for any other students.. But for students in the Art Program at my college, we have to have Macbook Pro's in order to do our work... and for my major, Graphic Design, we have to have 15'' MBP's.. =/ So I was bummed when it wasn't announced at WWDC. But I'll be thankful for a current rMBP.

I'm waiting to get a maxed out Haswell MBPr.

Chance of 32GB memory being an option?

Am soooo dissappointed. Got my old 17" MacBook Pro coca colarized 3 months ago. I need a mbp.

Gotta wait. No chance i'm buying old tech at a very techy price.

 Apple!!!!!!!
