I think I've refreshed the homepage of macrumors about a 1000 times in the past 15 minutes but sadly no sine of any invites for any event.

Ah well, next week we're meeting here again? Can't wait :p

No SINE of anything yet....

Out of curiosity though I wonder how many of these new owners will be using Windows on their rMBPs in some form or another.

I definitely will use Win7 for the "original" (aka MS) Word because it gives you a wysiwyg formating preview when hovering over the formating options, a feature I use very often und which sadly is not included in the mac version of Word.
It also will give me a way to run PS CS6 on the same platform as on my PC because apparently they don't like if their users mix and match. (If anyone knows differently, please tell me).
I haven't decided on bootcamp vs paralellels yet. Any thoughts on that? I use Word almost daily but woul like to use the mac part for the rest of my stuff.

And here we are again... for 2 weeks straight, people expected an announcement based on unfounded rumors. When today turned out to be false, they're now speculating next Tuesday.

I guess I was right all along when, a couple months ago, I said rMBP will not be released before October. Yes, it was voodoo logic but it proved to be true.

I don't think anybody really got their hopes up for today. Last week, yes. I really think the event is going to be on the 22nd, and I wasn't expecting it to be the 15th.

I originally used Bootcamp, but switched to Parallels. Much more convenient (no need to shutdown/reboot to switch between OS's), and MUCH handier to have instant access to both Windows and OSX programs and to be able to move files/data between the two systems, all while having the OSX desktop only one or two clicks away. I doubt I'll ever use Bootcamp again.

Not me. I will stay as far away from Windows as possible. There's nothing I need to do that requires Windows, and most of my applications are OS X-exclusive anyway. I don't need an OS like Windows taking up space on my drive.

hopefully we get a report about the invities going out on the 15th before the weekend otherwise should we be worried about the event happening on the 22nd?

Yea, these guys were not expecting anything at all today.

Morning! Let's hope we'll see some invites today.

My apologies. Just tired of people in this thread thinking that not everyone here should buy an rMBP. It's been a long wait, and emotions are high.

8-10 hours, and we should have some sort of idea :)

10hrs to go.

Awesome! :D

I have a good feeling about today. Once I see the invites, I can breathe a small sigh of relief. Be it this week or the next week. Just think, we can all have our rMBPs this month!

And yes, I think there is a 90% chance that they will release the rMBP this month. Makes a lot of sense releasing it with Mavericks (even though this was not too clear a month or two back)

Hopefully we are in for good news in the morning. Good night MacRumorers.

On Sept 3rd the iphone invites were reported around these times:

MacWorld 9am est.
Engadget 12noon est.
Macrumors 1pm est.
9to5Mac 11pm est.

I would say if you can, use both (I go down this route). For Word you can get by just fine with Parallels (even if you allocate a small amount of RAM to that VM). For PS, I'm not sure how large your projects get at any given moment, but I prefer to use Bootcamp for that so my resources aren't being split between OS X and Windows. But for small projects and/or quick touch ups, you could use Parallels for that (if you allocate a decent amount of RAM).

They were all hoping. And given how long this thread has run, who can blame them. We all want a new rMBP out ASAP.

How is that different from what I said. You said no one got their hopes up, I said they did, and now you're saying they did? I've been waiting since February and can even show you my ING Direct Apple Account with money already set aside for apple products. I'm not trying to shut down anyone's dreams, but trying to get people to not blindly believe any bogus article or rumor thrown out by others who have been consistently wrong.

No, I never said people got their hopes up. Just because I was hoping for invites to go out today doesn't mean I got all excited and let down over nothing.

totally concur with the above; it's a real pain in the ___ to do the shutdown/reboot. Only thing with Parallels is that you have to have a fairly robust machine (min is 8gb and the more powerful the CPU the better)

This is an argument that will never die because it has always been this way - possibly from the beginning of time. College students speak as if they were the first to ever take college classes. Oh, I need this to do my work because my 2 page assignment requires a $2,000 machine. Sure.

When I was a computer science student, I had a use pentium 2 desktop and at $1600, it was the cheapest/maxed out machine I could afford. Of course, I convinced myself I needed something that powerful to compile 200 lines of C code. So funny when you think about it.

Stephen King and many successful authors wrote most of their bestsellers on manual typewriters.

OSX developers created this brand spanking new OS NOT USING rMBP.

Well I did the opposite: When I started studying in 1993 I bought a typewriter with a small display and a build in memory for like 20 pages because I thought : What should I buy a computer for, I'll never use it anyway.

stuuuuuuuuupid!!!!

So I burned 600DM ( yes, there where times before the €), wrote two or three papers on it and then bought a PC.
I would have done better buying that PC right away.

I really feel like giving in and buying a 15' rMBP right now :(

You could always go for one from the refurbished store. I wouldn't buy a new one at this price with new ones around the corner but saving money is good! I'm running the 2013 rMBP on Mavericks and battery life is better than it was on Snow Leopard. :)

Maybe you guys can hop on this logic. I just picked up a 13" rMBP after waiting for months, like all of you.

If they release new ones in the next month (or even two), Apple said I can exchange what I bought for the latest.

If they do not, I'm tired of waiting anyway, so will keep this model then later deal with the "sell and buy the latest" if need be, if it's compelling enough.

Theory: I have a rMBP in the meantime either way.

P.S - Awesome machine. I stare at the screen ENDLESSLY. It's beautiful. The new Parallels is also excellent.

There is a 14-day return policy. No way can you return it or even exchange.

You get 14 days at the Apple Store to return it. I work for an Apple Store and we do not go beyond that policy unless it's a special circumstance.

That's not really an option that works for me. This will be my first rMBP and there's no point of transferring all my files and data just so I repeat the process 2 weeks later. I'll just wait and hope Apple releases something soon AND my laptop holds up in the meantime.
