But the 15th is 1 week before the 22nd. Which means they'd send out invitations to confirm the event. Therefore confirm the rMBP refresh. If they do it at the event, that is. Ahh so many layers of possibilities :D

"Confirm the rMBP refresh" is maybe going a bit too far on the conclusions :p

If nothing gets informed on the 15th it'll be sad lol..

Meh.
The way american politicians are going atm, the world will have flipped out by the 22nd. So they better release the rMBP on the 15th so i can at least play with it for a few hours before the world ends.

Relax. Invites are out on Tuesday 9AM PDT :)

Will be good if it happends :p

Hehe, would be sweet to watch the world end with a new rMBP, wouldn't? it :)

The reason that the Razer Blade can have a GT 765M in a thin 14 inch laptop is that it uses much more space for the cooling. It also has more holes for airflow. The rMBP focuses more on battery and looks.

The viewing angles for the XPS 15 IGZO are advertised as 160 degrees. This is very good, but not as good as the best normal IPS displays. Someone was able to play with the Dell Precision M4800, which uses an anti-glare 3200x1800 IGZO display. It had a brightness of 409 nits, which is maybe the highest I've seen on a laptop. It's also great for a laptop that is already anti-glare, so working outdoors should be non-problematic. Colours covered 100% sRGB, 80% Adobe RGB, 74% NTSC. This is very good, but not as good as 10 bit displays found in some workstations. Native white point is 6607 K. Viewing angles are not as good as the best IPS panels.

IGZO displays would be a very nice upgrade for the rMBP, which is no small feat given the great panels that are currently used. The power savings and brightness increase are probably the biggest changes, but higher resolution would also be neat. Going from 280 nits to 400 nits of brightness will be a boon to those who often use their laptop outdoors.

Exactly. Jony Ive is concerned with three things, looks, looks and looks. We just will not get PC performance from out MacBooks. Sad

My 2010 MBP is on it's last legs. It used to have 10 screws holding the bottom on, now it has only 3 screws holding it on thanks to the overheating and slight expansion of the aluminium casing making them pop out. The screen is slack and ready to fall off, it won't let me run Pages for some reason and randomly freezes up when it feels like it just can't take having to play my Logic projects live anymore... :p

The 22nd can't come any sooner guys! If we see new Haswell rMBPs, that would be half of the battle. The other half being pushed and shoved all over the Apple store by all the other customers trying to get to the pièce de résistance itself ;)

Fair statement but it's not just about looks. Can't forget the build quality. It's the very thing that brought me to OSX and most likely the reason I'll stay. I hammer on my MacBooks daily for 10-12 hours and only buy every 3 years gifting them as hand-me-downs (And they all work just fine to this day).

True, there are faster and more powerful laptops out there, even in a smaller package but I wouldn't want to bet the next 3 years on any of them.

A very true statement. I've gotten four years out of my mid-2009 MBP, which would have been perfect if I had graduated on time. Sadly I'm in my undergrad for another year and grad school sometime in the future. That said, I'm happy and impressed that my MBP has lasted as long as it has. Unfortunately there are issues present that are too annoying to deal with and too expensive to keep fixing every other week. At least I didn't initially get a cheap PC that would have crapped out before I finished my freshman year. The MBP was my first computer that I had for myself, and no one really explained to me that the internals (especially hard drives) are fragile and need to be handled carefully. I'm surprised it survived four years of being tossed in a backpack before fully going to sleep! Solid state will be awesome for my habits  And yes, I've learned better habits, but it's too late for my current MBP. If it can't be revived as a desktop replacement for media, I'll give it to my friend with the same model for parts. He dropped his pretty good, and it won't turn on. Either that, or send it to Gazelle for $200. Too many low ball offers on my local Craigslist. The display is worth more than $75, and I have more functioning parts than that ;)

That's pretty bad for a 3 years laptop. Shame on you Apple ;)

Funny when people begin consider "looks" to be a bad thing when when you're "looking" at and using the thing for hours everyday. With looks you get build quality, craftmanship, ergonomics, and a smoother user experience. That's the je ne sais quoi that so many PCs are missing.

Go make yourself a Hackintosh if you need more power than a maxed out retina (you very well might, I wouldn't presume to know), but leave these beautiful machines to the rest of us.

Sometimes there are machines with bad builds, sometimes it depends on how the person treats them. I'm using a 7-year-old Powerbook G4 right now that is solid as a rock, just not quite fast enough to keep up anymore.

~I know this might be a first world problem, but I really need the rMBP to come out so that I can finally take my Macbook Air (Mid-2013, 11) to the Apple Store, so that I can get my phantom trackpad issue fixed. It's very annoying and ruins my productivity, but I need to wait because I need to use it for the time being because of important studies.

I'm going to keep it laying around, since I think it's an impeccable machine, but can't wait to replace it with a 13" rMBP.

The problem with this argument is that the Razer Blades are obvious Macbook Pro ripoffs when it comes to looks. They're basically just a different colour. The area where Apple compromised on looks is the bottom panel. It is probably the part of the laptop that you look at the least. They had to increase the number of ventilation holes for the rMBP, but they could have gone further without reducing the beauty of the parts the user actually sees. You don't have to make a machine look like an M4800 to have decent cooling.

More and more rumors point to a 2014 release. I think it's time to mentally accept this.

However, I'd not be happy with a 12" rMBP in some wicked-slick new gold case.

2014??? I hope you are not referring to that article 9to5 mac just published moments ago? If so, the very last sentence of that write up points at 2013 for the Haswell rMBPs. Have some hope for 2013 ;)

I volunteer as tribute...

Way to live up to your screenname! Take a deep breath and wait for Tuesday before you start giving people heart attacks! Just because Kuo and Tim Cook say 2014 will be big doesn't mean they'll wait to release the rMBP. They'll do a minor refresh with haswell to get us to buy this year and then bring out an even more awesome refresh in 2014 and make us regret jumping the gun.
