1. where is that data from? cause I think the power consumption (light usage for battery life) of iris is about the same as hd 4600 + deactivated dGPU
2. nope. only in a few categories. Look at the iMac lineup. Iris Pro is "good enough" for GT640m but not Gt 650m/750m or anything higher
3. Yes that's true, BUT Iris Pro is expensive too ;)
4. that's totally wrong. MBP went from 2010 integrated+ GT 320/330m to Intel 3000 AND AMD dGPU!
- You are talking about the Mac Minis where they did what you stated. Mac Mini is NOT a Pro device ;)

3. True

4. No it's not totally. But I forgot to mention that this was of course only the case for the 13''. People didn't like it this time and started to claim "it's not pro anymore". Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MacBook_Pro

Don't quit your day job.

my prediction (cause i'm unofficially an analyst:rolleyes:):

cMBP:

Unchanged. Continues to be offered in store as a legacy product.

13" rMBP:

1. Haswell dual-core i5/i7 ULV processors.
2. iGZO display at the current resolutions.
3. Base storage to 256gb.
4. dGPU - Nvidia GT 735m. iGPU - 4600 (Power savings from both iGZO and Haswell should very well compensate for the power
5. 8hrs battery life? (not any higher due to the inclusion of dGPU.)
6. Pricing - Remains constant or $100 less.

15" rMBP

1. Haswell Quad-core i5/i7 processors.
2. iGZO display at current resolutions.
3. Base storage 256gb/512gb (doubt it would be 512gb as prices havent not decreased drastically as yet)
4. dGPU - Nvidia GT 755m - 760m. Potential GTX 7xx series.
5. 9-10 hrs battery life.
6. Pricing - Remains constant or $100 less.

:):):):):):apple:

Anyone know if this keynote event will go live today and if where I can watch it ?
Today is just the sending out of invites to next week's presentation.

Apple has not yet said whether they will live stream the event. Several blogs will have folks present to send live updates/pics of the event. Apple usually posts a video of an event several hours afterward.

...sitting here in the classroom, everybody is programming SQL queries, just me that's reading this thread instead...

(...glad that I'm the teacher... :) )

Wow bro. You're mad.

lol. Of course I am, I even used the "mad" emoticon !
Also, laughing at the fact my message has been moderated, but is still quoted in its entirety in your post ! internet... :D

Anyway, agree to disagree etc, I'm happy the product gets released now, but I maintain Apple and this thread makes me sad to be an Apple user, and the whole secrecy on roadmap and specs is a big problem for professional.

A small note about you comment : "if you can't afford to renew your laptop whenever you want, it's time to review your business model" : this line seems right out from a GTA character (this isn't flattering, in case you're wondering).
Oh I'm sorry I don't have thousand of dollars to spend on whatever.
Also, if you had ever worked in a big company (even without a tight budget), you'd know they usually have a "renewal cycle" (3 to 4 years in general) so you'd better choose wisely if you plan to stay for a while.

Hate to disappoint you, but I didn't report your post. I didn't even find it problematic; I just didn't agree with it.

I think maybe you are confusing my comments with someone else's? I didn't say this. In fact, I was the one defending refurbs as a way for people rich and poor alike to save some bucks.

Does Senior VP at an international company count? Not sure.

----------

Unlikely.
HD4600 is out of the equation.
Wouldn't make sense. I'm out.

I'm willing to put my money on Iris Pro on all models.
We might even see the first the Iris Pro combined with a dGPU in more expensive models.

4750HQ - $1799
4750HQ + GT/GTX Class GPU - $2199
4850HQ + GT/GTX Class GPU + 512GB SSD + 16GB RAM - $2799
4950HQ available in custom configuration.

I think you misunderstood my post. I was responding to the guy saying we'd see a HD4600 + dGPU in the 15". That I find to be unlikely. I'd bet a chunk of cash on an Iris Pro 5200 in the 15". I'd also be shocked to see an Iris Pro + dGPU. That would be extremely costly, and there's no compelling reason to do it whatsoever. For all tasks where the dGPU isn't needed, the HD4600 would be perfectly capable.
