GT 750M simply for its dedicated memory.![]()
I was thinking the same
I don't use CAD programs, but I think you will get better performance whit a dGPU than whit iGPU...
GT 750M simply for its dedicated memory.![]()
French site MacG, which has an imperfect track-record, claims to have been given the dates on which the new MacBook Pros, iPads and Mac Pro will go on sale. The claimed dates are:

With the recent announcement that Apple is combining their Retina MacBook Pro and MacBook Air product lines, is there any reason not to wait until those combo-tops are released?

I swear people only see what they want to see. The first line in that article below yet people choose to completely ignore it.![]()

but now we all will be saying is it october 22nd yet?
Judging from past history of these events, any chance the new rMBP is available in-store the same day of the annoucement???
How about this thought... it's not a MacBook event.![]()
Iris Pro doesn't make sense in the $2000+ range.
There has to be a dedicated GPU in order to claim higher better performance
but an integrated GPU powerful enough to also claim better battery life.
So here's what I'm thinking
For the base, at just $1799 replacing the current 'fat' 15" MacBook Pro
Intel Core i7 4750HQ at 2Ghz
Iris Pro 5200
For the 'better' model replacing the current $2199 price point
The price could even be lower but that's anyone to speculate.
Intel Core i7 4850HQ at 2.3Ghz
Iris Pro 5200 + dGPU (GT/GTX class GPU)
.
I didn't even mention the storage or memory here.
People will argue what's the use of Iris Pro 5200 when you have a dedicated GPU and also incur higher cost?
First of all, Iris Pro 5200 =/= GT 650M
Second, Apple can still claim better battery life with greater iGPU performance.
Third, if you need the power, you still have the dGPU.
Fourth, for the base model, removing the dGPU saves cost bringing the ability to bring the rMBP 15 to a lower price point but maintain the near performance of the previous gen by using Iris Pro.
Fifth, consistency. You claim 12 hours battery life for all rMBPs. You expect the same for all models. Since Apple calculates the battery using iGPU, the iGPU has to be equal performance. You can't expect the more expensive model with worse iGPU performance?
Make sense?
why do you wish so much a non macbook release?
honestly, i can stand haters....
Well there are people here with rMBPs.
All of them are desperatly hoping for Haswell new rMBP NOT to be released in a week from now.
And all of them will be punished![]()
Well there are people here with rMBPs. And there are people who, for any reasons, stopped to waiting and bought an MBA.
All of them are desperatly hoping for Haswell new rMBP NOT to be released in a week from now.
