The text of the invite does not give us a lot of clues:

“We still have a lot to cover”

Granted: IPad, Maverick and Mac Pro.

Very likely: Macbook Pro Retina, Mac Mini

Could it be: TB2 Display, Apple TV, IWork

I'm a bit more conservative:

- Mavericks is virtually certain because we know when it was released to GM.
- new iPads seem most likely after Mavericks and the invitation implies a plurality of announcements.
- Mac Pro is the sort of flashy new product that Apple might want to introduce at an event and it's the only Mac which Apple have promised for this year.
- MacBook Pro seems about due because other manufacturers have announced (but are not yet shipping) laptops with the specific Haswell CPUs that we expect Apple to put in the MacBook Pro.
- Mac mini is similarly due for a refresh.
- Apple TV is also due for a refresh, but timing may be driven by contracts for content with resolution above 1080p.

The last three don't seem flashy enough to introduce at an event. I expect them to be updated silently, but if they are coincidently ready at just the right time, they might get a brief mention. Anyway, we'll know a lot more in a week. :)

LOL...I'm not a hater, I'm a pessimist. You know. expect the worst, hope for the best. I've been waiting since February! My Dell laptop is being held together with butterfly clips (just look at my profile). I have my Apple fund constantly growing, hoping to be spent.

I've waited so long and believed so many rumors that I won't believe anything without proof.

I love this part... hope I can laugh at those people next week, but I fear I might end up crying in the corner.

sorry but i've got to say that this point is so stupid

never, noone had a real proof of a release so you can't come claiming for any real fact and saying everybody that there will not be a release because that fact is not true aswell!!! so dont make others, what you dont want that anyone make yourself

as you may know, to the day of the keynote all you'll have is speculations and with that you'll have to deal with so bein pesimist is not an state

you must be clever and form your own mind and not be afraid to be mistaken (let's be adults and not kids), so if you in the past were wrong what you've go to do is learn from that mistake and be realistic

That was me, actually! :D

And you misread what I said. I was just saying that if a 10-15% performance boost (which is the most we'll see from the Haswell refresh) is enough to make or break your productivity, it might be a good idea to re-evaluate how you work. Which was another way of saying, why get your panties in a knot over such a trivial bump in performance?? An early-2013 rMBP won't be at a major disadvantage over the Haswell--that's a given.

And I enjoyed the GTA reference just the same. (I finally beat GTA5 last night. Masterpiece!!)

I'll try to make it short : I work in programming and sometimes have to deal with design too. Believe me, opening heavy images and running multiple virtual machines while running whatever environment I'm running, is very resource consuming. Just take my words for it.
Your brand new machine will do it correctly ... until update, new versions of whatever you run in your virtual machine, a worse environment (some project are very resources intensive to run locally) and whatnot.
And the time to open / switch views between all tasks becomes very precious as it cumulates fast.
15% is NOTHING TRIVIAL, especially when you take in account the years (and updates) to come.
So yeah, it's important.

Excellent summary.

The only piece I would modify is that if the rMBP gets an IGZO screen, that will warrant a 20-second mention along with at least one slide during the presentation.

The potential TB2 inclusion would be nothing more than a side comment during the MacPro presentation ("and TB2 will be in the MBP's, too!").

Don't run around calling people/opinions stupid when you can't write or spell.

You say let's be adults and not kids, yet you can not make it through a sentence without being immature.

I hear you.

I have a much easier time of it in the audio/music production world, since I can largely stick with what works for 3-4 years without having to worry about upgrading the OS and all of the annoyances that come with that. I stuck with Snow Leopard on my most recent MBP just to avoid compatibility hassles, greater CPU demands, etc. No to mention that I very seldom use my MBP at "full power".

So I concede. I thought your post was just another example of misdirected nerd rage, but it seems your nerd rage is justifiable after all. Or at the very least, understandable. ;)

Can't wait until Tuesday!

ONE WEEK, GUYS!!! ONE WEEK!!

Christmas has arrived early this year :D My credit card is ready, and I seriously need a new Mac NOW (running on an 2008 unibody Macbook after I sold my iMac).

Apple: Take my money!

So maybe the number of the different colors in the invite reflects the number of products they will show?

Ahhh!! Best news ever!! Can't wait to give boyfriend back his stupid Lenovo and get back to work now that the semester is halfway over lol. Bring me my late-2013 13" rMBP i5 8gb ram 256gb SSD!!

The question will be if I get rid of my mid-2009 or if I hang onto it for a little longer and possibly repair it. What are you guys doing with your old machines? I can't exactly hand mine down except for parts unless I invest in some repairs first.

Most surely she's TROLLING! And the deep reason is she can't hold a rMBP release when she's already spent his money in other old machine.

Only thing i will do is....

That's the same model I'm planning on getting.

For that second part, what exactly is wrong with your 2009 MB? If it's something major, then it might not be worth it to repair it.

Pretty much in the same boat....mid-2009 macbook pro and planning to get this haswell MBPr when it comes out. My '09 MBP has some issues (keyboard backlight, CD/DVD Tray dont work, and a minor dent or two). I think my current plan is to do a complete reformat once I get my stuff onto the new MBP and maybe use it as a secondary computer....otherwise maybe put it up for sale online and see what kind of offers I get. But I imagine considering it's age and issues it might be worth it to keep it....maybe add a SSD for an extra boost.
