Did you really? Amazon has been selling the Ivy Bridge models for $1999. They won't be offering a $200 discount on the new models. Let's not confuse MSRP pricing and marketing with real-world numbers...

Now that I've gotten a chance to look at the configuration options on the Apple site, it seems like it's not really much of a price drop. Poisonivy326 sums it up nicely below. Though with the education pricing I will still get a bit of a break, just not as much as it initially seemed like.

The $1299 for 13" rmbp is not really a price drop. They'll charge at least $100 for the RAM upgrade. Most people will want 256 GB flash storage which again will cost an extra $300. $1799 for a pretty "basic" configuration, which will either:

1. Push people to get the Macbook Air
2. Push people to get the 15" rmbp which will seem like a bargain

Can someone explain the display support? Will the new MBP support 4K displays via TB2?

I'm pretty torn between the XPS 15 and the MBP.. looks wise the MBP is preferred, money isn't really an object, and neither is the OS.

Hmmm.. life decisions

I want the rMBP 15" but was going to casually play games and do some HD movie editing, should I pay near $600 difference for the one with the 2GB graphics card and more RAM?

Does anyone know what display panel is on these new laptops ? LG or samsung ? Do we still have to worry about the display lottery thingy ? (if I recall correctly, samsung has no ghosting/burn-in issues whereas LG did).

You can't select it individually and don't need to.

2,0Ghz -> Iris Pro
2,3Ghz -> Iris Pro, 750m
2,6Ghz -> Iris Pro, 750m

There are no other options. The choice of CPU automatically determines the inclusion of the 750m.

Are you saying that if I choose the base 15'' for $1999 and opt to upgrade the cpu from 2.0ghz to 2.3ghz for $100 additional, then my 15'' will automatically receive the 750m?

??

You have proof of that? Doesn't state that anywhere on the apple store website.

im in love with my new maxed out rmbp 13"!!!!! THANK U APPLE

WORTH THE WAIT!

RIP "Waiting for Haswell MBP" Thread Im (not) gonna miss u!:eek::eek:

Help me understand. Previous 15" rMBP with mountain lion has 7H battery usage, and now the same dimension but with Maveriks and only iGPU+Haswell..only 1h more ??

Depends on how serious you take your gaming, and how important money is to you. If I still played a lot of games, my first choice would be the new high-end configuration, followed by the previous generation rMBP, which should have very attractive close-out pricing. I wouldn't get the "new" base configuration as a serious gamer.

So you are after the 15-inch, eh?

Yea.

2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz

AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook Pro - Auto-enroll
Apple 85W MagSafe 2 Power Adapter (for MacBook Pro with Retina display)

Do I have everything I know I probably would not need?

I don't understand why they even bothered keeping the cMBP 13". For an extra $100 you get a much better display...

Guys,

Thinking of getting the 15" base model and adding the 512gb SSD for an additional $230.

I know add ons are usually overpriced, but this doesnt seem too awful. Any comments?

I've been following this thread for months now, glad it finally happened! I could nice some advice though

Aside from the difference in screen size, which one would you pick:

'13
256GB
i7 2.8-3.3
IRIS
16RAM

or

'15
256GB
i7 2.0-3.2
IRIS Pro
8RAM

?

Both would max out my price range. I'm heavily leaning towards the 13 incher. It's basically a fully loaded 13 versus the entry 15. Additionally, is it worth upgrading from 8 to 16 RAM if I don't use it for video editing?

The graphics is a significant downgrade for games, an upgrade for OpenCL (if you care about that)

The graphics is indeed a point which makes sceptical. As a once-in-a-while gamer I had expected a bit lower pricing (-100$) for that the Iris Pro is a little bit worse than the previous GT650m.

I'm also not that happy about the fact the cMBP has vanished completely. Now I must really change to a living without DVDs. I had a small hope for a cMBP with Haswell and without Retina for a cheaper price. Or I buy a refurbished cMBP one... which - in my country - are more expensive than the new rMBP. It's kinda ridiculous.

Man, I could get out of there for just under $1500 if I wasn't so damn tempted to upgrade the processor and/or RAM.

How fast is delivery on a standard build usually at this point in the launch? I'm travelling around a bit from Friday so would need to receive it by then.

I'd go into a store but they're all showing "Currently unavailable". If they're likely to become available by the weekend I'll do that instead.

I believe that the most upgraded model is the 13" full specs BTO model. I will probably go for that. Can you people compare the 15" entry BTO model with the 13" max specs BTO model? Below are the specs:

13-inch: 2.6GHz
with Retina display
Specifications

2.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
512GB PCIe-based flash storage1
Intel Iris Graphics
Built-in battery (9 hours)2

£1,288.80

15-inch: 2.0GHz
with Retina display
Specifications

2.0GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
8GB 1600MHz memory
256GB PCIe-based flash storage1
Intel Iris Pro Graphics

Built-in battery (8 hours)2

£1,443.60

Which one would you buy and why? [Edit: UK Education Store prices]

TELL ME PLEASE.

2TB Time Capsule or 3TB? Is it worth the extra $100?

Also, should I get the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and mini display from Apple or elsewhere?

Yea.
