I had to buy my 15" rMBP last month because I needed it for university. In a perverse sort of way I'm actually glad that the new ones are only marginally upgraded.

Exactly how i'm feeling to be honest.

I will be ordering very soon, but taking my time to review my options before I rush into a purchase.

Trying not to get overwhelmed by all the configurations. Definitely different than I expected. Nice to see the 1TB option, though.

Nope it's more powerful!

No, no, and no. The base 15" processor (2.0) is about the same as its predecessor's counterpart (2.4). The graphics is a significant downgrade for games, an upgrade for OpenCL (if you care about that), and probably roughly a wash for other stuff.

Anyone know if these are available in-store, yet? I tried calling twice but it just rang and rang - told me I was "next in line" for a solid five minutes. I know that's really inpatient; but debating and I think seeing it in person might push me over the edge. ;p

Yep. It's exactly $200 off the original price for students. An amazing deal.

No. Unless you're pegging the CPU you will not notice, and a higher clock speed will consume more power (75% of a CPU's power usage is simply in pushing the clock signal around).

We'll find out soon, but I would not be surprised to be able to get the 13" model with 8GB of DRAM and 256GB of SSD for $1499 or $1599.

... and it's one of the standard configurations for $1499. Good deal.

The 2,3Ghz and 2,6Ghz versions automatically include the 750m. Only the 2,0Ghz version has no dGPU.
