No sweat. You're going to love that thing.

And God, perspective is everything: after living with a Dell for 5 years, you should be buying yourself TWO Macs! :D

I'm considering it. Maybe getting the feb 2013 for home use. I know it's silly so trying to hold off.

Hey all,

I'm getting myself a MacBook Pro 15". How are you guys charging such a large purchase on your cards? I am having trouble buying my MB because the limit. I even called my bank and they said they couldn't raise it. I split it in two card and still having trouble. Ugh. Any tips on how to purchase such a big price item from Apple? Thanks!

Are you using a debit card or one of those starter credit cards? I used my Amex without a problem.

** TO ALL LONDONERS ** Regent Street store has the new rMBPs! Got mine an hour ago: 15", 2.3, dGPU. What's NOT cool though is that I overheard a sales person tell another customer that they'll be getting them later on today. In fact the person who served me first said they don't have them in stock, but luckily his colleague was next to him and confirmed they do in fact have them. Anyway, got mine, so I'm a happy bunny right now!

What versions did they have in stock?

Finally!! The wait is over! Just drove to the nearest Apple Store in Frankfurt, Germany and got my brand new rMBP 13" Haswell 2,6GHz, 8 GB RAM, 512 SSD and some accessories. w00t!

Now going to set it up.

It was fun browsing this thread while waiting. Thanks guys. See you in the 'Waiting for Broadwell' thread :) cheers

I'd get the one with 16GB ram and 256GB ssd since the ssd is presumably the only user-upgradeable part.

Can you run Battlefield 3 thru Bootcamp with High settings and tell me what FPS you get ? You can use FRAPS for this :D

Please please please :D

16GB RAM or 512GB SSD

Decided to go with 13" 8GB RAM 512GB SSD instead of 16GB RAM and 256GB SSD.

Tested on Win 7 x64 with 4GB RAM and a Samsung 830 SATA SSD this morning and you can throw anything at it filling the RAM completely and it never slows down as long as it can swap on SSD. Therefore I think 8GB combined with PCIe SSD should really be OK when not using virtual machines.

Call your bank and ask again to higher the limit. If they still give you the crap, tell them you're changing bank (which will get things moving). It's total BS that they claim that they can't raise the limit. Besides, it's your money.

No it's their risk unfortunately. Try anyway.

1. I need storage for my 80GB iTunes collection and 120GB Lightroom photo-database.

2. Mavericks makes better use of 8GB ram an the faster SSD also helps.

3. By the time i need 16GB i will have a Broadwell-Schmoadwell-whatever-Macbook :D

4. If there's a problem with the macbook, i can get it exchanged in the store because it's not a BTO configuration.

5. ...

6. Profit??

Can you please tell us if they have the BTO models only or if they got customized as well?

Anyone get the new 13 have any info on the effective resolution?

One thing that's bothered me is the idea that a 13 MBP with retina is operating at a lower effective resolution than a 13 MBA.

Was going to upgrade to 16GB RAM but now considering the 8GB model and saving the extra. Is the 16gb worth it? I don't think I'll need it, but was going for it to future proof the machine. Now reading that it isn't worth it as the problem will be the lack of a quad core option in the 13". I would like to keep the machine for 3-5 years.

Im going to buy the 15" base model.

Im wondering if its worth the 200 $ to go for 16 gb RAM.

Im going to use the computer to some photoshop, and minor final cut pro, and some other like design programs (If there are more intense work I have a desktop and the university has workstations)

And ofc skype, browsing and like league of legends.

So I heard that the iris pro takes up some RAM space, but in my world Im never going to use more than max 8 gb of RAM anyway, am I wrong?

Already ordered my 15" Macbook pro stock maxed out, it should be ok i guess just got to wait 5 working days now :(

Is the order status page broken for anyone else?

i am not sure, i tried to look at it today and it says
We're Sorry.
We're sorry, but our Order Status services are extremely busy right now. Please try again later.

Can you still get it exchanged in store even if you buy that configuration over the phone?

Here I go, as I promised. My post. From my haswell retina mcbook pro.
thank you all. It's been a pleasure ;)

What versions did they have in stock?

Not 100% sure, as I knew what I was gonna get, so didn't enquire about other models. There was a guy getting a 13" though.

Too late mate, I'm at Heathrow claiming my VAT back at the moment. Got a flight to catch in an hour.

Hi folks, posted this question last night but it got lost in all the excitement:

I'm trying to decide whether I need a dGPU. I'm a graphic designer; I work mostly in InDesign (typography), and with still images in Photoshop / Camera RAW. No gaming, no video editing, no sound editing. Will I benefit from the 750M? Are there drawbacks to it?

Really appreciate the advice!!

Only drawbrack really is that it may suck a little more jiuce from the battery.
Otherwise I didnt find any price difference when spec'ing a machine with the dGPU and one without it.
Personally I would say just go with it - it'll keep resale value higher and you have that extra power should you need it in the future!
Ordered mine up already!

Hi,

I just want to say thank you to everyone that told me to hang in there and wait, especially when I almost gave up.
Now that they're released, I'm so glad I waited.
I think it was worth every bit of the 4 month wait.

I have pulled the trigger and ordered the (maxed out):
15" MacBook Pro
2.6GHz (BTO)
1TB PCIE Flash Storage (BTO)

I'm super excited on getting this beast, especially that it now comes with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M with 2GB of GDDR5 memory.

Will keep you posted on the order.:D:D
