What?! I don't think you understood what I mean. I want to buy it right now and have the money, BUT since there is a limit on ATM card from my bank I cannot charge more than that limit. I was just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get around that since my bank doesn't want to make my limit bigger. I guess it's a safety thing.

Urgh, god... I assumed you meant credit card, sorry.. Yeah that's pretty ****.

Probably the largest dilemma I would face would be choosing between a 512 GB SSD or 16 GB of RAM. It probably makes more sense to get the 16 GB of RAM as I could always store stuff on an external HDD.

Finally!! The wait is over! Just drove to the nearest Apple Store in Frankfurt, Germany and got my brand new rMBP 13" Haswell 2,6GHz, 8 GB RAM, 512 SSD and some accessories. w00t!

Now going to set it up.

It was fun browsing this thread while waiting. Thanks guys. See you in the 'Waiting for Broadwell' thread :) cheers

No rMBP in Munich, yet! I got the information that they'll get them tomorrow. Store manager fail?

To those who already have their rMBPs, could you please tell us what frequency the 750m runs at under Bootcamp using GPU-Z?

That's what I'd do too. You can always increase the storage capacity later with third party SSD's.

When will the frist reviews and tear ups be out? I'm mainly interested if the base 15' has redesigned inside because there's basically only cpu to cool down or there's big hole after the gpu. Also interested in the battery life.

1. I need storage for my 80GB iTunes collection and 120GB Lightroom photo-database.

2. Mavericks makes better use of 8GB ram an the faster SSD also helps.

3. By the time i need 16GB i will have a Broadwell-Schmoadwell-whatever-Macbook :D

4. If there's a problem with the macbook, i can get it exchanged in the store because it's not a BTO configuration.

5. ...

6. Profit??

sent from my Haswell Macbook Pro Retina

Well, if you can afford a new rMBP every year, this is a no-issue.

Can someone with a new generation rMBP do an image retention test and tell us if the problem still exist please ? :)

I guess it depends on how long you are planning to keep the machine.
If I had to chose between the two, I would definitely pick the larger SSD.

The memory compression in Mavericks works very well and I find it quite remarkable how it kept my 2012 Macbook Air with 4GB from swapping.

The machine didn’t swap to disk until I used an effective 6.5GB of RAM (with several Safari tabs, Photoshop CS6, Pixelmator, Plex, iTunes, Word, Sublime Text and Civilization 5 open).

8GB should be more than enough for my purposes considering Mavericks will use compression to turn this into a usable 10-11GB or more. Of course I’d lose a few CPU cycles to the compression, but that is a tradeoff I’m willing to make for the extra 100% of internal storage. Carrying around external disks gets old fast.

Are you waiting for Broadwell too? Or are you delaying your purchase of the Haswell rmbp a bit until reviews come out?

I ordered my 13" Haswell right after the online Apple store came back yesterday :D

I couldn't wait any longer ;) I'm betting on there not being any significant problems. It's a generation two product and they certainly have had time to test it.

Could someone give me advice on 8 or 16 gigs of ram?

15" base model.

Uses: some photoshop, some (small) video editing, league of legeds, skype, browsing etc.

Congrats! I have to wait until 10/31 for mine as it's a BTO being shipped to me. Yesterday, they did not have the in-store pickup, but they have that today. I'm considering cancelling my order so I can pick it up from the store. Wonder if that will be faster - plus I get the experience of picking it up from the Apple store. :p

With more ram = More productivity with photoshop and video editing

For needs such as skype, web browsing and playing LoL and whatnot, 8 GB of ram will be just fine.

It's up to you how professional you are with programs that needs that extra ram in order to render videos quicker or using alot of software at the same time without slowing down.

I'll say go for the ram upgrade...this improves user experience and applications are only going to be more resource intensive.

Here I go, as I promised. My post. From my haswell retina mcbook pro.
thank you all. It's been a pleasure ;)

Come on...where's the link to your Youtube unboxing video. And make it good, not that 3 minute crap.

Take the 16 gigs of RAM if you think you'll run those programs simultaneously and you have the money. In my opinion It's worth it because I like to multitask a lot but it depends on your uses whether you should do it or not.

But remember that once you chose 8 gigs, you can never go 16. Stupid glue…

Yeah, I've been searching all day for a Haswell rMBP unboxing video! Common people, I can't wait a few days more.

About to order a rMBP with a 512gb SSD and 16 GB ram and 2.3 ghz processor. Should I get dedicated or integrated graphics?

Main use is photoshop and editing related use.

So does anyone know if bootcamp under windows 8 allows graphics switching, or if it would just use the dGPU constantly, given the chance?

Would mean I would just get a non dGPU model if so.

Dude. The base model with the dGPU is almost as expensive as the base model without dGPU and 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD BTO option. So practically you're getting the dGPU and extra processor speed for free in your case. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
