Over 15,000 posts. Wow. You guys are some dedicated Mac users. This thread has been in a tab in my browser at home and at work for the past 2-3 months. I will be sad to see it go. Congratulations to all of you that ordered... it's been one heck of a ride!

Enjoy!!!

Just got my 13/2.4/8/256 at the Apple Store!!!!!! Unboxing report to follow.

I'll also hang around to support PDFierro and the others waiting for shipping ;). We're all in this together! It's been fun, and I'm a little sad to see the wait end.

I've been obsessively checking my order status. It makes me happy to see that you got yours. The only thing that is different about my configuration from yours is the i7, but I'll wait.

Looking like Monday or Tuesday for me.

Hopefully going to pick up my base 15" today(tomorrow for those more west than the UK)! I was debating whether or not to get the higher model but really it's overkill for me! I just want a large screened MacBook lol. I won't be using any software that will require the GPU or extra RAM/processing speed! I'm excited to get it. Thanks for making the wait bearable guys!!

In case anyone is curious, I just got a new 15" rmbp. Disk tests were around 730 read/write for the esata SSD. This is the 512 gb model.

Why not keep the dGPU and just keep it turned off? Would do great for resale value later if you ever end up planning on selling it!

Apparently they changed the system after my computer. It's now intelligent switching, but they had troubles with it. Although they do say that Mavericks fixes that somewhat. How much though I don't know. It's one less thing that can go wrong and the dGPU is what caused my 2008 iMac so much trouble.

Yeah, resale, but I haven't sold an old mac since 2004. Now I just give them to family or friends or barter them for something like borrowing my friends car for a few weeks.

But you are right. If by chance I need to sell it, then I'd get an extra couple hundred bucks or so for it with the dGPU. But chances are I won't need the dGPU and neither will the person who uses it after me.

Looking for a bit of advice.

Upgrading from my 2007 MBP (it's been a strong one) and I'm pretty set on getting the base 15" rMBP, but am unsure if I should upgrade the RAM or the flash storage. Which would you say is more important to upgrade?

I do some light photo and video editing at the moment, but nothing too intense. I suppose the RAM upgrade would be more future proofing than anything in case I do end up with more intense editing needs down the road. The flash upgrade would simply be for convenience sake (I currently have almost everything on an external hd, which works but can be annoying at times).

I'm looking to avoid future upgrades (like getting a bigger flash drive) and want this baby to last me another 5-6 years.

If so do 16gb RAM AND at least 512GB SSD

I am interested to know if Apple has finally fixed the prolonged display problems such as Image Retention, Mura on display and yellow tinting. The previous Retina MacBook Pro had these issues and my Ivy Bridge model had it's screen replaced 2 months ago.

I am getting the new Haswell Model within a month. Anyone got any comments about display issues in the new models?

GSPice! Can't recall seeing you around here lately. Did you order?

Actually I didn't.. :( probably gonna be a Christmas present though.. :) figured out my desired configuration though. :D

And I'm interested to see how the graphics switching handles various apps and where the 5200 may shine in contrast to the 750.

I just picked up the 15" 2.3GHz i7 with the GT750m. I haven't unboxed it yet, will do so later this afternoon. I'm looking forward to see what the Iris Pro can do compared to the dGPU.

Very excited :)

Everything seems to be running pretty well so far. I don't notice lag on MR. Whites seem pretty bright and not yellow.

Arrgh, more than 24 hours since order and it still says "Processing" on order status. Anyone else? I ordered a maxxed out 15".

For me, the logic is simple. You'll notice the bigger SSD more in the present, but you might come to feel the lack of RAM in 3-4 years. And guess what? The SSD is the only thing you can upgrade later.

So speaking as someone who is equally obsessed with the (perhaps misguided) notion of 'longevity', it's an easy choice: RAM is the safer bet.

It's funny you mention lag--given how much people loved to complain about the "terrible UI lag" of the original retina MBPs, you would think the world would be doing cartwheels now that this enormous, deal-breaker of a problem has been fixed.

Maybe they're too busy looking for a new problem to obsess over to have noticed...

Appreciate the advice. I ended up pulling the trigger on both a RAM upgrade (16GB) and a SSD upgrade (512GB) on the base 15" model. I initially had budget concerns, but I figure if this thing really is going to last me 5-6 years like my current MBP has, it will be worth it.

I considered just going to the upper level rMBP for ~$100 more, but I don't play any games on my computer so I figured the graphics boost it provides is fairly unnecessary.

Can't wait to get it!

first post in this thread, just to say that it's well worth the wait

(wow screenshots come out huge on retinas)

I got the same one today. I will ask you a silly question and for others too who got the 15". I always assume that they put the background they use for marketing (the one in the order page in the 15" with the school of fishes" among the backgrounds, but I actually cannot find it. I really like it and I would love to have it.
