What's everyone's biggest problem with the new rmbps?

I guess the problem is, that apple left the power untouched and concentrated on power consumption and other stuff. I just benchmarked my girlfriends 2.6Ghz 15" and it's incredible fast. However it's not much faster than last years model. I also geekbenched my 2010 and her 2011 model and back then there were huge differences from year to year.

I guess we are now at a point, where increasing performance is not as important as other stuff (improving power consumption, increasing batterylife, better UX - fast SSD).
However people NEED better values (as we know number count and higher numbers are better, because otherwise noone would buy a samsung smartphone ;) )

Why are you blaming Apple? Intel is responsible for the performance of the Haswell CPU.

There's only so much CPU & GPU they can cram into a 0.71" thick laptop, given the limitations on power and cooling that are available. Apple even got Intel to create a special version of the i7 Quad Core for them - the 2.6 GHz model isn't currently available outside of the 15" rMBP, is it? Sounds to me like Apple was pushing for the best CPU performance they could within the TDP limitations of their chassis.

I agree, this year's upgrade isn't huge in terms of CPU performance, but it is good in a number of other aspects, SSD speed, iGPU performance, WiFi, TB2...

In other news, Toronto's mayor, Rob Ford, has been photographed multiple times with his drug dealer by the police and the police have obtained the contreversial video in which he was allegedly smoking cocaine.

Back to the Mac:

Is there supposed to be a big problem? No product is going to be perfect, but there's not a major flaw or anything.

I think I see the problem. ;)

Form over function is the :apple: way now.

Well, not entirely true. MBPs are definitely functional. But the lack of choice IS the :apple: way now.

my keyboard is out of place for the holes in the aluminium shell

like, its been jogged 0.25mm to the left before being glued in place and theres a bigger gap to the right of the key than to the left

i can feel the keys scratching

returning next week but I'm scared ill trade 1 problem for another so hoping next one is ok

Not going to work. It never did with the 13 inch model. As far as I know it's only working on 15" machines and this generation only with the once with GT 750M (not working with Iris Pro only)

oh well, it's gorgeous regardless what brand it is and the screen is a million times better than what my previous '12 mba had.

1. Creaking in 3 out of 5 laptops
2. Yellow screen

How the hell would you know that of the 100s of thousands of rmbps Apple makes, 3 out of 5 of them creak? I'm not even going to talk about screens anymore, if you want, you can just refer to the post I made last page. Any problem with the screen will apply there. Actually, I'll make it even easier for you, I'll put my post right over here:

Every single laptop model in the world will have IR issues on some models, it's not possible to ever totally eliminate it across the board on every display LG, Samsung, etc. makes. Attributing that as a fault of the rmbp is not only unintelligent, but it's simply wrong. It may have been the case when it first came out, but even then, only a small percentage of customers had IR problems. The only reason why this seems like a huge problem is because people aren't going to search up IR issues with Retina Macbook Pros on Google because their display is working perfectly fine, it's only people whose display has a problem. Why do people keep on having to bring these things up? It may even seem like LG screens are worse than Samsung screens, but in reality, they're brighter and have better blacks than Samsung's displays. Every manufacturer will have a problem with something that'll affect someone, but unless it happens on a large scale, and is very noticeable, no one is going to do something in the public-eye's about it. Apple just announced a recall of a very small subset of iPhone 5S users have a bad battery. The scale on which IR affects users would probably be even lower than that.

I couldn't think of anything to write, and I thought that might stir-up some conversation. I know no product is perfect, nor will there ever be a perfect product, but I was really just talking about if it suits people's needs.

Manufacturing problem, go exchange it with Apple. I highly doubt your next machine will have a problem, but it's always a possibility. Just like you could exchange a car for a better model and end up with a "lemon".

12-inch MBA?:D

This is the kind if post I was looking for with my question. I have no idea what power improvements Broadwell brings in the CPU department, but I know that the integrated GPU will be much improved upon. It's also much more power efficient. I think I have read that it might be faster, but I just can't remember where I read it...

Wonder how soon refurbished Haswell rMBP's will show up in Apple web page; can't wait!!! :) :)

I lurked this thread for so long... and i finally got my sweet baby today. 15" 2.3 / 16 GB of ram / 512. My first new computer in 5 years. holy moly.

My dad is hanging on to his computer until it literally dies. I think it's around 8 years old. His solution is to just reinstall Windows every time it gets slow, and he blames me for making it slow in the first place:eek: It's still running Vista 32-bit, even though it has a 64-bit processor.

So, image retention is exist on late 2013 rMBP.

http://youtu.be/qCPYJnsWbuo

Yet another ridiculous test... if you stare at an image of a checkered board for 10 minutes and then look at a white wall, I bet you'd still see the checkered image on the white wall. Does it mean your eyes are defective? Eventually, the image fades just as the image on the screen eventually fades.

Some people just like complaining.

I strongly disagree, as this has been a company that's not had any problem making large under-the-hood changes in the past, and a BTO option would make a mess of the iGPU marketing.

Also man was I wrong here. In fairness, I started to recant toward the end as I considered what they did with the iMacs. Nevertheless, I deserve a good stoning.

Well there's his problem! 2000 and XP were solid, and I'm OK with Win7 too. Vista was garbage.

I agree - Vista was a joke just like his older brother WindowsME. Every few years, MS likes to release a bloated piece of crap just to prove that some people just like to make life difficult for themselves. And don't you try fixing things - or they would not have something to complain about.

Well, no real surprise there -- most of us are no longer Waiting for Haswell! :D

Yea, but it's always nice to go back to the old neighborhood once in a while just to appreciate where you've come from.

Here is the 15400 post! I think it might look for a refurbished 13 inch rMBP in the 2.6/16/1TB configuration.
