Do you think apple will put the 512 GB flash storage in the upper base model instead of 256? Then 256 will replace the 128?

So Iris Pro aka HD5200 underperform the 650M ? what the hell, i don't think so, i mean overall

In my opinion definitely not. :/

depends on how they will make the sku, current trend is all the cpus will be BGA and will have the pch on package at least if not on die, thus lower power quads are definitely in their plans

but skylake is more of a sure bet

I'm pretty sure the CPUs bundled with Iris Pro graphics haven't been released yet.

Exactly right, they haven't....

IRIS PRO is the key here not Haswell processors... We all know that Haswell processors have been released!!!!

Apple are waiting on the Iris Pro 5200 release to give extra graphical juice for the Pro range...

Isn't Iris embedded into the CPU?

Iris graphics are integrated with the cpu and not all haswell cpus have been released. In fact most of them haven't. All of the dual core i5 and i7 plus the Iris Pro quad i7's are schedule for Q3 release.

Companies have different calendars. Some companies start 2014 Q1 on August. When does Intel 2013 Q3 start?

Intel runs on the regular calender so Q3 is July, August, Sept. with Q3 earnings call in Oct.

In that case, we logically would see a silent rMBP refresh in Q3 midway, unless Apple wants to amaze us with something different and unexpected on October...

My gut feeling is we see an apple show sometime in september mainly for the iphone 5s and possible ipad 5, starting with a quick presentation on the refreshed rmbp.

it looks like things will be very bland for both actually. maybe next year we will see some improvements, with maxwell and the new gcn for the 15 and for the 13 a quad finally

Well, not performance wise. But in other areas, a very important upgrade indeed.

Upgrade will mainly be in battery life, most probably a jump from 7 to 10 hours. I can also see an upgraded nvidia gpu in the 15". Most likely with 2gb gddr

All speculation of course...

Really stucked at this moment. I need a computer for college, and got offers of early 2013 rmbp 2.7ghz 16g 512gb for $2200. Not sure if I should take it or wait for the Haswell update, also consider I probably can't pay top dollars for a high-end model... So stressed! Anybody with an opinion?

For $2200 I would take it. I've been trying to find a deal like that myself since I'm also going to college. Mind if I ask where you're getting such a deal?

I feel like an "army" of new products will yield more than 1 conference before the end of the year-therefore the the MBP will share the stage at an event and won't be a "silent" update.

I don't know where people get this information from, but the following CPU's will be released on 1st of September. They're most likely cheaper or slightly improved models models:

The following mobile Haswell processors will be launched on September 1:
Celeron 2950M, 2955U, 2980U, Pentium 3550M, 3556U, 3560Y, Core i3-4000M, i3-4005U, i3-4012Y, i3-4020Y, i3-4100M, Core i5-4200H, i5-4200M, i5-4202Y, i5-4210Y, i5-4300M, i5-4300U, i5-4300Y, i5-4302Y, i5-4330M, Core i7-4600M, i7-4600U, i7-4610Y, and i7-4960HQ.

Let's scoop the UB/M/HQ lines out there, and match it to possible rMBP processors. (Presumptions on naming conventions, typically H = High Performance, M = Mainstream Performance, U = Ultralow Power.

i3-4005U - i3 - No chance
i3-4100M - i3 - No chance
i5-4200H - Most likely 35W - Iris GT3
i5-4200M - Most likely 35W - Iris GT2
i5-4300M - Most likely 35W - Iris GT2
i5-4300U - Most likely 28W - Iris GT3 *unlikely to have Pro*
i5-4330M - Most likely 35W - Iris GT2
i7-4600M - Most likely 35W - Iris GT2
i7-4960HQ - 45W - Iris Pro - Most likely sucessor to the already released 4950HQ. Contender for the top of the line 15".

Macbook with Retina Display 15"

So that leaves 4 processors with Iris Pro.

Launched:
Intel® Core™ i7-4950HQ Processor - (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)
Intel® Core™ i7-4850HQ Processor - (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
Intel® Core™ i7-4750HQ Processor - (6M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz)

September: (Estimated spec)
Intel® Core™ i7-4950HQ Processor - (8M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)

Therefore, I think they will use a processor with GT2 + a dedicated graphics: (even though they're 47W)

Base: Intel® Core™ i7-4700MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz)
Mid: Intel® Core™ i7-4800MQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.70 GHz)
Best: Intel® Core™ i7-4900MQ Processor (8M Cache, up to 3.80 GHz)

Or, they could have Iris Pro

Base: Intel® Core™ i7-4750HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.20 GHz)
Mid: Intel® Core™ i7-4850HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.50 GHz)
Best: Intel® Core™ i7-4950HQ Processor (6M Cache, up to 3.60 GHz)

All six of these processors are launched now.

Macbook with Retina Display 13"

For the 13", I wouldn't be suprised to see them using the U series with Iris. Most of the above seem to feature GT2, except one high performance M chip with Iris.

Estimated from the information obtained here: http://www.cpu-world.com/news_2013/2013070301_New_Intel_mobile_CPUs_to_launch_in_September.html)

However, it could be that all M chips will feature a GT3, which leaves the H chip with the Iris Pro, but I doubt it, and we've already seen geekbench leaks with the 13" with 4258U, these are both launched.

According to: http://ark.intel.com/products/family/75024/4th-Generation-Intel-Core-i5-Processors/mobile

Base: (Leaked) Intel® Core™ i5-4258U Processor (3M Cache, up to 2.90 GHz)
Best: Intel® Core™ i7-4558U Processor (4M Cache, up to 3.30 GHz)

Looking at the Intel website, it looks like all the 4th Gen i7 Core processors have been "launched"

Yepp, forgot to mention that in my post, as I was updating it. My estimated 15" processors and the 13" leaked processors (and my estimate for the upgraded version) are already released. The six Iris Pro/Iris processors that I listed for contenders were mentioned in a leak schedule ages ago, and was release since day one. The latter, being released on 1st of July.

The 13" processors were released a day before BTS. Assuming they're not waiting for a processor, I'm guessing they're releasing this month or next. The next-next refresh will most likely happen around next year in Q2 (most likely at WWDC with the refreshed Haswell).

Nice detailed outline! Lets hope Apple is already ahead of the game ;)

Thanks haha. I actually spent way too much effort on that, when I have other things that need attending (stupid garage door is broke). But then again, I wanted to give people a better understanding that processors are not the case in this long wait. Assuming they don't wait for IGZO or TB2, it should be close to being ready.

Did some changes, the 4X50HQ line launched on July 1st.

Like I said, I would expect them this month or next, like I predicted a while ago. But they could still delay it further if they want to wait. ( Which is a possibility, don't take my word on my predictions ;) )
