Well, needed or not, there should be a 16GB option for the '13. Its 2013 for God's sake.

Agree, but looks like Apple wants to use that as a "differentiator" between the 13 and the 15. Maybe when the 15 gets 32GB of RAM.....

When they update with a new release, anyone going to bet that 16gb RAM is going to come stock on the base model 15in Macbook Pro w/ Retina? Or still going to be an option? I find that 8gb of memory is unacceptable for most power users out there.

If I still have to pay an arm and a leg for that upgrade with an already very expensive computer, it would be a serious deal breaker for me. This is also considering that it's soldered onto the board, which gives us users a pain in the rear and on the wallet.

I own a year old 13in macbook pro, and at 8gb, it hardly touches my daily tasks. Also, as an iOS developer, using a PC is out of the question for me. I really have high hopes for this latest release. $2000+ is quite an investment for some people.

Don't you want a larger screen in such cases anyway? Like the Thunderbolt display.

Yes, but if I need to tweak the design while I'm idling on a transcontinental flight, I'll have to make do with a Retina screen. And 8GB would feel constricted at that point.

But I don't know many who designs large banners in 300 DPI. They're not seen close up, and by a little distance, 100 DPI would work just fine.

See this: http://graphicdesign.stackexchange....on-should-a-large-format-artwork-for-print-be

I'm not talking about banners that are hung on ceilings. I'm talking about banners that are posted on walls...

People walk right up to those and glue their eyes in.

Especially true for posters, too.

General rule of thumb is to work in vectors for those sorts of things, but when you can't (when you have to include photos and such), that's where you have to work in Photoshop, and it sucks...

You are right, the waiting totally makes no sense.
Because the most important period of college study is the first two months.

Even though you could have a better rmbp in October, and for next 4 years, but that's not important, the key is to own it for the first two months.:p

i'd rather not go to a top 10 school without a computer for two months. my workload will be heavy and many assignments are done online.

Well i just got scammed from an eBay seller...I'm getting a refund when the item was a no show (something was definitely fishy w/out a tracking #)...anyway - now I'm back in the game of either waiting, or buying again...strange, feels like I broke up with a girlfriend...hahaha

I am transferring colleges and moving away and need a new computer. My old laptop is a 17inch sack of **** and really want to purchase a 15inch rmbp before moving in August but I guess I can make do with the old one for a month or so (even though it takes a half hour to boot).

I hope you tore him a new one on the ebay review.

I need a new laptop for school (my current one has SMC issues and randomly shuts off), and I may have to resort to ebay if the rMBP doesn't get announced soon D:

Out of curiosity, what was his feedback value?

You know that's what surprised me...46, with a yellow star...the reviews seemed legit, the post seemed legit...I offered to pick it up as the seller listed his address about 45 mins away from me...just coouldn't work it out due to "having the kids for the night"...he had good communication, apologized for the delay attributed it to the holiday, but never gave me a tracking #. Even told me it was shipped...I escalated to Ebay to involve them, and got a response saying it should come and if it doesn't we'll get to the bottom of it...I advised it didn't come today and again asked for a tracking #. To my surprise I got a notification of refund...very strange.

He probably sold 46 stolen items. 47 was a scam.

Would you mind posting the ebay seller's username so other people that maybe looking to buy on ebay can avoid him.

Thanks!

This has a Iris Pro 5200 graphics. could this be the 15 inch or is apple putting it in the 13 inch?
