So based on all the rumors..what month is probably for the refresh of retina MBP ? August or October?

There aren't even decent rumors on this -- just idle speculation. I'd expect sooner rather than later, but it's anyone's guess.

That's probably exactly what they'll do (per my post above). The Iris 5200 versions top out at 2.4Ghz (4950HQ). The substantially inferior HD 4600 versions top out at 3.0Ghz (4930MX). Since there's no way you'll see a standalone HD 4600, I think the most likely scenario is a 2.3Ghz (4850HQ) or 2.4Ghz (4950HQ) with the Iris 5200 in the low-end, and dGPUs (perhaps starting with the 4900MQ) in the higher ends.

I would love something like this to be true

Looking for a Haswell rMBP of the equivalent 2.7/16/512 version but if no dGPU will just get a Ivy Bridge one from the refurb store.

I will be buying a Razer Blade Pro if Apple decides to forego the dGPU. It's a true disappointment to Mac gamers.

@applepie555 You do realize that the 2.4 Haswell performs close if not better than the 2.8 IvyBridge right?

Yeah, but having 2.4 be the high end would basically negate any performance gain by haswell. Plus having a 2.4 with only 6mb of cache compared to the last model with 2.8 with 8mb cache would make them look bad...

Yeah that would be good but I bet apple's going to put a high price on the gpu model...

Right because cache is the thing that's going to make Apple look bad.

It's know different to the new Mac Air which was base 1.7 and now it's 1.3

I'd argue it's a *little* different because of marketing and customer segmentation. The MBA segment is the hardcore mobile user who values extreme portability over performance. The MBP segment is much more of a power user. As a result, the processor clock drop is easier to market for the former rather than the latter.

I know what your saying but it's not like the old days. Theses new gen cpu's clock speed means nothing now it's more about the architecture

To everyone whose been waiting: it feels amazing to finally know I don't have to wait anymore. Feels better than the 1 or 2 extra hours of battery life ever will.

finally got it. it feels soo good. will not be kicking self! this thing is phenomenal without the extra battery.!!!

Based on the leaked Geekbench performance he's right though. The 2.4 Ghz Haswell has about the same performance as the 2.8 Ghz Ivy bridge.

didnt know such a community existed. If people truely want to game then why the hell are they on a mac, its like owning a nintendo wii console....

Have to agree with the previous poster. No way in hell should a Mac be for a gamer. Even if windows is installed, I'd still never recommend it. It's an absolute waste of money.

So I was thinking about the Haswell Macbook Pro retina design and it occurred to me to me that Apple may take some design cues from the white iPhone 5 that has a similar aluminium look. I prepared a rudimentary look of such a Macbook on Photoshop.

However, I feel the chance for such a macbook is very small, but in my opinion it looks good. If people want it, I'll prepare other views too like the keyboard keys that are white (similar to the wireless keyboards').

If the Haswell rMBP comes with white bezel and white keys...

I will swallow the extra $1000 and buy one in a heartbeat. Even if it comes only with Intel HD 4600!

All kidding aside, I don't think Apple would do it. But if they do, that'd just make my 2014 purchase that much sweeter.

Here is what is happening.

End September/Early October Release.

As for about the dGPU.

Intel has 2 Seperate Lines for the Mobile CPU's this year as compared to previous years. One line is the standard line and the other is a line that is dedicated to offering the Iris Pro Graphics

The CPU Benchmarked in the geekbench is the Core i7-4950HQ

Which retails for around 650$ 2.4 GHz and has the Iris Pro 5200 Graphics.

Intel also has the Core i7-4800MQ which retails for 400$ and that is 2.7 GHz and has the basic 4600 Graphics, making it the ideal CPU for the rMBP with the dGPU

You didn't clarify why it's releasing in that time. Although I'm not objecting, you state these facts that have already been posted in this thread, and are now all released. :)

Problem is that based on those pricing, it means the Iris Pro line and the dGPU line would be offered at the exact same price point.

And then just by looking at the tradeoffs:

Iris Pro line: acceptable graphic, slower CPU, 30% more battery life in most cases
dGPU line: far superior graphic, faster CPU, same battery life as last year's model in worst case

Both computers get the same max battery life when running light tasks that don't invoke the dGPU. In fact, the non-Iris Pro line may get more because HD 4600 doesn't consume as much power as Iris Pro, and the CPU has more headroom.

Which line would you choose?

So, again, people, for the 4th (or 5th?) time: Iris Pro and dGPU at the same time, be it as a single line of computers or two separate lines, makes no sense!
