Smashed 1000!

Well done all...just thought I'd pop back on and see if they're are any actual rumour's yet?
Pretty chilled re: what comes along (or doesn't) as the the 'old/new' 2015 MBP is fine at the moment...will probably hang on till Kaby in 20.....erm, well, whenever....unless the new MBP kicks series ass in some way or other....

Old news brah. ;)

I hate to say it again but there's a possibility that we get Kaby Lake H with GT2 graphics and dGPU in all 15" models. What else can Apple do, keep using Skylake with GT4e even though it seems that even Coffee Lake doesn't have a GT4e variant?
Well you know....Serban did say that all the 15" laptops would have dgpu..
;)

My sister got my windows computer after I got my mbp. I clean installed windows 10 for her and after a year, she was experiencing so many problems. Opening the start menu took literally 4-5 seconds after you pressed it, blue screened practically twice a day, etc. I suspect its more her fault because it was running completely fine for me for 3 years. So I decided to install the original software that came with it, windows 7. It took me four whole days (I didnt have work those days). What I am about to tell you literally surpasses any sense.

On the first day, I couldnt download windows 7 from microsoft because it told me that I had a Lenovo windows 7 key and I had to download from lenovo itself. Lenovo didnt have windows 7 at all. Therefore, I had to download windows 7 off of a torrent site (rip KAT). Download takes 3 hours. Then I had to burn the iso to a flash drive which took 30 min. I plug it in, and guess what? The entire os is in German and there is no option to change to English. f**k me.

So I searched for a new windows 7 download. Finally I find the right download. However, this already took me an entire day and I had to wait till tomorrow. I wake up tomorrow thinking it would be smooth sailing from here. Little did I know, it was just the beginning.

On the second day, I install windows 7 on her lenovo desktop using the key from the back (turns out my lenovo key does work with any windows 7 download, f**k you microsoft). This takes a good hour to install. After it is done, I install chrome and start installing back applications. Standard stuff. I go into the control panel and check for updates because I know there is going to be a lot. 10 min go by, nothing. 30 min go by, still nothing: says its still checking for updates. 2 hours go by nothing. I leave it over night checking for updates: STILL NOTHING.

Turns out this is a common problem installing windows 7 ever since windows 10 has come out. On the third day, I had to update "windows update" manually. S**t how is this "user-friendly"? If my dad or basically 70% of the population were faced with this problem, they would have never noticed this and would have been running windows 7 with no updates forever. Finally installed the update and after a couple reboots I was presented with all the updates. I had around 200-300 updates to go; around 2.5gb. Thats amost the same size as the original windows 7 installation iso. Now I was really starting to get pissed off. I click download and install all updates and leave it overnight.

Wake up on the fourth day, turns out the windows update stalled overnight and didnt installing any updates. I was about to just leave her computer the way it was and never touch it again. Instead I spent the entire day, installing every single update one-by-one. After this whole ordeal, I will never touch a windows computer ever again.
Reading this made my day because of how relatable it is. I spent two days fixing my grandparents' Windows 8 PC because of the sheer number of viruses and adware that were on it. Had to do a clean system wipe to Windows 8, upgrade to Windows 10, install a billion updates requiring numerous restarts, then install antivirus to try to prevent it from happening again. Took two days because of how many times the system hung and just refused to accomplish anything, forcing me to restart and try again, over and over and over.
I still use Windows on the side just to tinker and have fun, but man can it be a nightmare.

I'm currently on day two of putting an SSD in my girlfriends laptop, still not close to the finish line. It should have been a simple case of cloning the old drive and popping the new one into the spare 2.5" slot. I did a similar process on my Mac in 2013 and it took all of 4 hours. 3.5 of which was waiting for the files to copy over.

so there is a remote possibility that Apple can release new rMBP next year... o_O

There is no such possibility unless Apple proves that they are a bunch of idiots absolutely having no idea what the f*** they are doing. I firmly believe that is not the case.
My wait will be until somewhere around 20th October. If there are no MBs released to that date, even worse no invites sent that will be very very sad.

Ok...I read all of the 1014 pages...just now I decided to sign up and joint the party.

why did I read all 1014 pages? I am glad you asked

Moving to a new country by the end of this month..I am using an iMac mid 2011...besides the fact that it is getting too slow for 4k and other stuff..I really hate the idea of traveling with it...

so..travel..work..no computer...old laptop...you get the idea. I even considering that dell XPS by now..but I really don't want to.

there you go. add me to the list...

is it weird to be checking this thread 4 or 5 times a day even knowing that there wont be any news?

ok..I'll be back in 15 min...hahaha.

Maybe but it is a possibility to take into account... and yes I am agree with you about "very sad".

Waiting. Checking thread views. Logging them for a day. Calculating when we will hit the 3.000.000 mark.
Well, it's not much data and maybe some days are slower or more popular but given today's numbers we will hit it this saturday in 2 days, 3 hours, 44 minutes.

;D
