While I understand that the iris pro is not available I also have to say I don't care. I always buy a mbp
With dGPU anyways and battery life is good enough even with a dGPU. So there is no real reason for Apple not to use the current CPUs and add a dGPU besides having to admit they don't have the fastest igpu available.
Having the best iGPU available means you don't have to use the power hungry dGPU as often and you can have decent battery life even with moderate use. I'm certain Apple would not want to go back to having dGPUs on every model but we'll see if Intel forces them to. I'm sure Apple would prefer to drop that battery murdering and logic board frying dGPU altogether as soon as iGPUs are good enough.

I dont, after waiting for soooooooo long, it just seems to good to be true that we're going to be actually seeing new Macs. I thought this might turn into a Half-Life 3 kinda wait.

My god. One day away and what I see?

RUMORS on MacRumors?

Can't believe it.
However, I really thanks a lot the chinese translator, I was moaning all over the house after the google traduction of the original post, reading about "only 13 MB in october".

Maybe it's true that something's happening... but I want to remain "disillusioned" until invites come. Then I'll start freaking out.

ROTFL.
That's the kind of things I expect to see here, you're the master.
Hi, Clippy!

Hey guys... I'm following this thread quite a while. So, first of all, many thanks to all for sharing your thoughts and expertise. I also had some good laughs while we all share this desperate time until we finally will see an official statement on upcoming macs.
I run a mid 2010 MBP and it can really get annoying slow with Lightroom. But still, I simply love it. Why? Because it worked without major issues all days... and believe it or not, it managed to connect with my video camera instantly w/o additional drivers or anything. I was never ever being able to install my video camera on a windows PC, even though drivers for Windows were included on a CD (but none for a Mac). Anyhow, I am no longer recording videos but still... I really need to upgrade my MBP.
Not sure yet about 13" or 15" - I really enjoy the small size of the 13" but a bigger screen would be awesome as well. I like the idea of a dGPU but still I have no interest to burn my lap when running the machine under heavy load.
Well, waiting for the announcements it seems I still have plenty of time to decide.

But honestly, shouldn't we all expect something really new? Not only spec bumps or maybe changes in design. I have really not much technical background but what's Apple preventing to introduce a machine which could operate macOS AND iOS sametime. Imaging you can continue using your iOS apps on your MBP, transferring data. Anyhow, you will tell me in some minutes why that's not feasible and I better should take my pills ;)

The thing is IOS apps are optimized for touchscreen gestures and usage on a smartphone. Having them on a bigger non touch device would mean they won't work the same way and some re-design i.e. added code would be needed. Microsoft has all the trouble in the world getting their unique UWP apps out and up to speed and the ones they do fairly lack behind in functionality and power compared to 32bit ones.

Personally I really don't need much, heck I don't even want/need an event, just update the MBP with a black version, better specs and for the love of god a 4k display and the ability to expand RAM/swap the ssd. I don't know why so many people want a redesign, I always liked the MBP design a lot to me only the early Vaios looked better but their batterylife is a disaster.

The biggest "fear" for me is if I'm deciding to buy this over the new xps 13 having to learn a completely new OS and that it might take me a longtime in doing so. Most people are saying I can't do the things I'm doing on Windows on the Macos so yeah. interesting times

I don't need a redesign, but I would appreciate a wide-gamut display and touch ID. It can look pretty much the same though.

But yeah, we are in the home-stretch of reasonable waiting now. If there's nothing by the end of October, I give everyone permission to freak out.

at the moment my mind is portraying people at apple in a decisional crisis just like us, in some sort of a parallel universe.
Meanwhile in this universe, the only decisional crisis they have is what colour the next watch bands will be.

Can we get the graph guy post recent statistics on our performance? Guess we did pretty well the last four days!
And I just love these graphics!

I wonder if we will even see these before Christmas! This is turning into a joke.

I am glad I caved in June and got a MBP R 13" 2015.
I'm just selling my late-2011 MBP and having a hard time waiting for the new ones. I thought they would announce by now. Hate being w/o my mac

Other than the usual BTO options, these things are almost certainly not happening..

I would be kinda happy if I got to keep the F-keys as they are now. I don't mind the new home button on the iPhone 7 but it might be a pain to hunt for the F-keys without feeling them.
Yeah but what if all you had to do was hold down, FN and press 1 for F1? FN+2 for F2? esc could be tricky, but I could give up the Function Row for an OLED...

Ah don't even give that lame excuse. The IPP is a 12.9, hence 13" device that can perfectly handle iOS and has touch screen capabilities. They've already done the hardwork for translating iOS onto a larger device when they made the IPP. Now all they have to do is stop being greedy and offer that capability. But then again, do we really need it?

I'm currently on day two of putting an SSD in my girlfriends laptop, still not close to the finish line. It should have been a simple case of cloning the old drive and popping the new one into the spare 2.5" slot. I did a similar process on my Mac in 2013 and it took all of 4 hours. 3.5 of which was waiting for the files to copy over.

What did you use to clone, systems I believe, after yosemite, would be better suited to use CCC to ensure bootable and recovery part

That sort of attitude will get you very far in life. Very far in the wrong direction.
Consider the possibility that you could be wrong. Always.
Consider the possiblilty that Apple will not use Skylake for the new mbps when the mbp suitable Kabylake chips aren't even out yet. Logic
