OT: Which cleaning & maintenance utility is best for Mac? What do you all use?
Honestly, just use DaisyDisk and delete crap you don't need. Any other cleaning utility at best will free some space and at worst mess up your computer. You can, however, use the new built-in tool found in Sierra. On that note, I did find that my computer is much faster on Sierra now that a bunch of hidden background processes from old apps I forgot I use are disabled.

The new alienware laptops are up for order... the new 13 xps is up for order... my sighs are just growing louder

Alienware has the 45W Skylakes, which will probably be the same as in the 15" MBP. So guaranteed no more waiting for the processors, just Apple now.

Statistically, Apple releases invites most often on the Thursday 12 days before an event. But there have been enough variations recently that you really can't predict anything. The invites for the iPhone 7 event came on a Monday.

Perhaps I'm the only one, but is anyone else over keynotes? I find them clumsy, and im over the propaganda, particularly with Tims opening speeches.

I'd be completely happy with just a press release and a run down on Apple.com. Anyways..

Not all 45W chips are created equal... The ones destined for the 15" MBP are the ones with Iris Pro 580 graphics. 6770HQ, 6870HQ and 6970HQ are the ones we are looking for. I could only see 6700HQ and 6820HK on Alienwares site. I might have missed something but I don't they would want to use the most expensive processors as they have decent but battery life killing dGPUs anyway.

Man this issue just keeps coming up. Most skylake mobile quads have the HD 530 igpu, and this is what Alienware uses. They don't offer the Iris Pro 580 there. Apple has historically used the best Intel has to offer, which would be the 580. So, Alienware using skylake quad doesn't mean much for what Apple is doing.

NOPE, they have the 6820HK and 6700HQ, thats not Iris Pro GT4e chips, thats intel hd 530 not iris pro 580

Just stop talking about stuff you don't know anything about, not being rude, just please stop.

but I agree, getting pretty tired having to explain to people the different variants of the 45w skylake chips.

Maybe a disclaimer for everyone. If you're discussing potential alternatives to the 15" pro, don't bother unless they include one of these three chips:

The problem is that they often don't introduce products novel enough to warrant keynotes. That is not to say they don't innovate or the products are bad, it's just not worth a 2.5 hour tech talk. Keynotes are warranted for the first iPad Pro, the Apple Watch, etc., not updated versions of last year's model. However, from a marketing perspective, keynotes are great because they make it seem like what you own is somehow outdated. An iPhone 6 is still a fantastic smartphone and 90% of people wouldn't know it's two generations behind.

You're not alone. They don't have the same magic like they did when Steve was running them.

I think for October even we will get..........new Apple TV with 4K support, new iPad Air, and of course new Macs. Tell me if this sounds way off.

While I understand that the iris pro is not available I also have to say I don't care. I always buy a mbp
With dGPU anyways and battery life is good enough even with a dGPU. So there is no real reason for Apple not to use the current CPUs and add a dGPU besides having to admit they don't have the fastest igpu available.

My Brain.
I also run Cocktail occasionally http://www.maintain.se/cocktail/
I do this manually, but App Zapper helps remove apps and their support files if you're not used to diving into the library https://appzapper.com

Generally though, OSX doesn't need much cleaning and maintenance compared to Windows, so its not a rule of thumb having a utility and I wouldn't bother with it unless you're having issues.

I really have no idea whats going on with iPad updates right now.
I agree. I can't believe how Apple is trying to further innovate the non iPad Pro line. They must be like "hmmm what can we do to the iPad Air 2? Give it four speakers! Nope, that would take away from iPad Pro sales. Give it an Apple Pencil! Nope, that would take away from iPad Pro sales. Wait I got it! Let's just take the new home button on the iPhone 7 and put it in the new iPad Air and we'll say its the best iPad we've ever made. Then we'll wait another year and do that to the iPad Pro.

There are discounts on everything everywhere now. That is one of the strongest arguments I find pointing at October release.

Tim is going to release the new MBP Oct 3 so I can do my trip with a peaceful mind and a new shinny laptop to start my new job. Isn't he nice?

Trying to be positive here.

Yep mate, that's the positivity we all need! :)
