so is that October 24th date accurate?
What do you guys think?

Hes made it up for clicks I think, file alongside the guy who claimed Gurman et al had got it wrong and the new MBPs were coming at the iPhone event.

I know its easy to say but all of the well sourced tech writers and he gets it before anybody else? He doesnt cite any source or a venue for this mythical keynote either. Sounds like BS to me.

I posted this elsewhere, thinking I was in here... that'll teach me to go commenting on articles. Anyway:

I think it's a good assumption Apple will release all their new products before earnings. So, if earnings is 10/27, then an event 10/24 is out of the question because it's too close (also, its a Monday).

We could have one 10/4, but that's highly doubtful given we've passed the invite range.

More likely is 10/12 (a Wednesday because of Columbus Day holiday in the US), or 10/18. If 10/18, and if it follows iPhone pre-order dates, we would have pre-orders on 10/21 for release on 10/28... one day after the earnings event.

So I'm putting my money on a 10/12 event. I know it's a lot of assumptions, but that's my guess and I'll stick to it until next week when/if it's proven wrong.

You forgot the part about it being 2017.

I think it'd be weird to release two new computers but only one redesign. If the 15" redesign isn't ready they just wouldn't release it.

As well as the rMBP, it also happened in 2008 with the original unibody. The 15" was updated with the new design and the 17" had to wait until early 2009.

Also the 13" (I would guess) is by far the best seller; they just wouldn't wait for the 15" to be ready.

If they couldn't redesign one single computer (the 15') for more than 1.5 years that's F*CKING INSANE!

Yeah they didn't. This is no different than past rumors. It ain't gonna happen in October 2016. Or anytime in 2016 for that matter.

This.

Anyways who cares. October '16 ... March '17 ? Its way too late anyway. But better release a well designed MBP.

I wont be an insta-buy for me thats for sure. I better wait for some reviews. And with reviews I'm not speaking about those try-hard Apple people in this thread :p . I rely on trustworthy reviews.

In this thread 90% of people who buys the new MBP will be like "WOW its so ... so ... its the new MBP ! IT SUPER ! " even if it sucks :p

Well guys, there was this post same pages before: it's about 25 years ago when they released the first Powerbook. This happened October 1991. Apple is a highly marketing oriented company and if they are not really ignorant (oh well, indeed sometimes they are) there MUST be a 25th anniversary edition for all iMac/MacBook/MacBook Pro/Air product lines.
I read lots of comments saying we will maybe only see a spec bump but imao Apple will make something special celebrating the anniversary - hopefully not just a fancy color limited edition though. Anyhow they could make tons of money with it.

24th October they need to talk about the "upcoming macs to the market" so the earnings will be after the mac updates

Well it's true that a release of new hardware would be very useful good news to distract from the not-so-good fiscals for the quarter.

Why not?
Every rumor we have point to a release in October, plus different trustable analysts have said that a new MBP is coming in the last quarter.
So it is coming, it's just a little matter of time at this point.

This.

Way too late for what?
And the 90% of people I've seen here are the most complaining about Apple and his computer policy.
If it won't be an insta-buy for you is probably because you don't need it.
There are many of us eager for the new MBP, but just because our old computer can't seriously last anymore.
And with the premises given, the new MBP will be a huge leap from the past, no matter what.
In which way could it be worst than its predecessor?
The OLED strip?
The new keyboard?
Can this features mean a no-buy for you?
I'm sincerely curious.

I'm thinking it's going to be the weight difference that causes people to buy old versus new macbook pros.
The rest of the changes will be of little consequence I think. We're still in the in-between period between major leaps in notebook tech. Nothing imminent is on the horizon much like smartphones. If I bought a new macbook pro I'd do it knowing full well that the notebook would not "feel" much faster in day to day use. Hence, the only reason to buy would be weight savings as that would affect my day to day experience.

If they could make a 15" macbook and squeeze it into 3.1 pounds or less, sold! 13" at 2.6 pounds, sold! 2 usb c ports is all I ask. The rest I do not care about.

it's getting serious guys !!

I had a dream last night that I bought a 12" MacBook and that it was overheating and super slow and I was furious with it

For what it's worth, I had a MBP dream last night. I think it was announced via press release, but it did come with a design video. Screen sizes were increased slightly.

Man, I actually had a dream about buying the new rMBP.

I had a dream last night I checked the apple site and it was down like it normally is before they update it with new products.

I had a nightmare last night. The new MacBook pros where finally released and where available to my local retailer. I got there but there was a huge discount on the 2015 model and I ended up buying the model which I avoided for almost a year!
Still crying

I had a bad dream tonight. The new rMBPs were presented, and had about 3 minutes of stage time. The 13" was a Macbook Air with a retina TN display (!) and 15 watts CPU. The 15" was even better. It had no ports at all, a Core M CPU, and a built in scanner(!!!!!). It was touted as the perfect iPad pro companion for scanning and OCRing all printed text. But, it came in that stylish red color from the limited Mac Pro.

Who's next ??

You will be better off buying razer core
[doublepost=1474943471][/doublepost]

Hes Serban Gen2

First off, the Razor Core has an integrated gpu as well, so that's still not a good fit for someone who wants to play a fairly demanding current game.

But more importantly: He wants a mac. So do I. There's no reason on a $2000+ computer that we shouldn't be able to get an option for a dGpu. I'm so sick of people saying "if you want to game ... get this or that windows pc". For all of their history, macbook pro's have had the option for a dGPU and those models have been excellent for all sorts of uses, including gaming.

I think you are confusing the "Razor Core" with the "Razor Blade". The Razor Core is a eGPU housing with TB3 and not a Laptop as the Razor Blade.

I wouldn't call excellent the experience of playing games on the rMBP 15" with any of those dGPU that were inside. But of course, much of that is dependent upon what people expectations are about. I have been playing via bootcamp on a rMBP with 750m dGPU and it was good enough to me for some time, but not excellent. I still use my rMBP almost everyday, but I stopped playing games on it some time ago.

I mean, most of the poeple expected the new rMBP to be released early 2016 or sth. like that. Thats why "too late anyway" :p .

Indeed, I do not really care if its going to be released 2016/10 or 2017/3. Because I have a MBA 2011 11". YES it does not suite my needs. But I am not using it for production / making money with. Its just my fun-machine. My everyday Laptop.

If you need the power of a new MBP now to make some money with (business, designer whatever), why don't you buy the current models? Everything else is burned money. Or are u just using it for normal computing like me? Then u can wait for sure.

"In which way could it be worst than its predecessor?

Nah. If its added its okay. Im just waiting for reviews to see if its working out well. Or if I need to wait till gen.2.
Things that could mean a no-buy for me are more like:
Worse battery life, increasing hardware costs, way too less ports, bad performance at all.

Nevertheless I dont think Apple will ruine the new MBP. But I would suggest to wait for some reviews, just to be sure about what u pay for.
