I honestly hope they'll just release the MBP without any hype and just get to the point of it.

But man with Microsoft not doing anything this year seems like the MBP, Dell XPS and Razer Stealth are the high end choice

Also the Razer core is just an expensive external case you'll still need a gpu to power this thing an right now it only works with Razer laptops...Linus tech tips has a video up on it.

Personally I don't care much about nvidia versus ati in laptop but if it's Ati I'd want the rx 480

Hey, what about my dream from before the march event??

I had a dream about the keynote yesterday. It was so weird that I wrote it down to remember it and I just had to share it in this thread.

The first thing that I remember from my dream was that I missed the first part of the keynote. As I opened the live stream, I was very annoyed with myself because I forgot to watch it from the start.

The first thing I saw was Tim Cook talking about MacBooks. I was surprised because I didn't think they were going to update the MacBooks at this event. He said the new MacBooks had the new 6th gen Intel processors. Tim said they were updating the 15 inch, and introducing a new 16 inch MacBook Pro. Then he went backstage to get the new MBP and he held it with one hand to show it while everyone were applauding.

It was the same silver aluminum as the current MacBooks but it was very thick, at least 5 times thicker than a rMBP. I thought it was attached to a dock because the bottom part was bigger and wider than the upper part with a line going through the middle. It had a tapered design, just like the MBA. I remember I was kind of disappointed because I wanted it to be thinner and have a sleeker design.

Somehow I was standing there at the event and watching this from behind, in the audience (not on live stream) but I didn't think much about it. Tim passed the MBP on to the audience and then I saw a big, round power button with the standby symbol on it. The button was very big. It was placed in the top right corner of the trackpad covering up a big part of it. The first guy who got to see it pressed the button and the screen turned on. He then passed the MBP to the next guy and then I started to see fire coming from the keyboard but no one seemed to notice or care about it. The fire caught up and it started to burn a lot.

Someone put the MBP on the ground and then I looked at it from a closer view. I saw the fire was just burning a tape that was holding a cardboard like material in place. The fire stopped and someone took out the cardboard and suddenly there was a very big hole in the place of the keyboard and trackpad. In fact the whole MacBook was now a very large screen attached to a big empty box. It was so large I think it was close to a 40 inch TV in size and the box was at least 30 cm deep. I thought the screen was very bad quality, it looked like it had uneven backlighting (it was colored bright blue) but I remember I was thinking it had to be a 5k screen.

Then Tim came down in person and showed that the hardware was just a very thin part in the bottom of the box. The components were all colored in black. Then I started thinking why it was so big and why most of it was empty space and I wanted to ask but I just woke up and I was suddenly lying in bed staring at nothing and thinking about the madness I was dreaming about.

Maybe I've waited for too long...

oh man how did you record all that dream !! you must have a recording device or something in your brain :D

forgive me i missed it.. all i did i went to google and wrote "waiting-for-skylake-mbp-thread I had a dream" and clicked on the first 20 pages :D somehow google skipped yours

will update the list soon :p

I'm so ****ing pissed a 2000$ machine, bought 3 months ago, is choking on web browsing. Not to mention if I start dev servers & other VMs

You're using it wrong.

But seriously man, my 2009 MacBook Pro is not choking on web browsing.

Compute responsibility my friend.

Core is compatible with any machine that supports it such as the Skull Canyon NUC.

The true contender (and who I think will take eGPU crown) is Akitio coming from their infamous roots Thunder2 eGPU homebrews to full on legit eGPU in the form of the Node.

Rumor on TechInferno is that this thing is watercooled.

I made the following list of last events:

sep 7, 2016 Wednesday
jun 13, 2016 Monday
mar 21, 2016 Monday
sep 9, 2015 Wednesday
jun 8, 2015 Monday
mar 9, 2015 Monday
oct 16, 2014 Tuesday
sep 9, 2014 Tuesday
jun 2, 2014 Monday
oct 22, 2013 Tuesday
sep 10, 2013 Tuesday
jun 10, 2013 Monday

So Monday-Wednesday is pretty much a given. Monday seems to be reserved for WWDC or march events. October events all (twice) happen on tuesday. Wednesday seems to be reserved for september events.

Place your bets gentlemen! I guess 11, 18, or 25!

PS. I hope I got all the dates correct...

Note that November is of course possible but unprecedented.

Is it only me to notice this or what?!

I see only three events each year and they are going like this:

2013 > Jun/Sep/Oct
2014 > Jun/Sep/Oct

2015 > Mar/Jun/Sep
2016 > Mar/Jun/Sep

tell i'm WRONG guys but THERE IS NO place for extra event in 2016 !!

... ok so we are hopping for 4 events in the same year for the first time??

couse if it goes like before the next event should be:

2017 > Mar/Jun/Sep OR Jun:eek:/Sep/Oct ??

We had 5 events in 2010 and 2012. I don't think 4 events will be a problem.

I don't know if anyone feels the same, but all this waiting has made me completely jaded, almost entirely indifferent. If there's no october event/press release, i think i'll just stop waiting. I'm way past the point where an update would be critical to my daily life.

After all, a computer is nothing essential to your life. But my professional life will surely suffer if I can't get my hands on a new OS X machine in the future.

True - I won't be using my MBP proffessionally (pls no flame). That being said, I feel like I invested so much energy and excitement into the hope of something new coming out, and now I've run out of all of that.

Apple you've burst my bubble. You asshats.

Haha no problem man, I wasn't really angry that you left my comment out. :D

The reason I remembered my dream that clearly is that there was a time when I tried to have lucid dreams. The best way to go from a normal dream to a lucid dream is to recognize that you are dreaming inside the dream so it is important to know what your dreams usually look like. I took notes of every dream I had when I woke up during a few months time and I discovered that I had some really weird ones. Too bad the March event dream that I had was not a lucid dream. I would have made Tim Cook do whatever I wanted on scene. :p

Maybe not the iBooks 2 / iBooks author event but every other event is major. Here's my source: http://aaplinvestors.net/marketing/events/

I think I hit that point around June, after they spent oh so little time talking about the Mac? Didn't even go over the new filesystem, but "check out these imessage fireworks!". Afterwards I spent up my MBP stacks on god knows what and haven't replenished them (What for? Nothing is out.) so i'm in noooooo rush.

And as I mentioned earlier in the thread, as fate would have it, I won an alienware laptop w/ gtx 1060-1070 (still waiting on it since it's not out yet), its got almost everything I could want in a Macbook except not running Mac OS. I'm not a huge Dell fan, really was not an Alienware fan but, anyone who gives me a free rig is OK in my book. May hackintosh but, regardless if I need some muscle it'll be there.

Sounds like Inception  :D

I actually had those kind of dreams sometimes. I know what you are talking about and yah a lucid dream with Apple event will be very exciting  i would have replaced Tim by Steve for sure :D

For the sake of being enlightened about the topic, do you have proof of everything you state? That it is simply better coded? I think your point can only be validated if you have undeniable proof as this is too complex to label as so black and white.

Coding is my job, but if you mean I've read the source code and compared it to Window, then of course not - and you know it.
But if you program, you probably understand what it means to interface with a really wide variety of hardwares, drivers, software layers, and retro-compatibility with old ****.
For Internet Explorer, it became so complicated than until v11 (or Edge, I can't remember), they had to include the previous engines of EACH IE since IE7. And also keep ActiveX ******** for a while.
Meanwhile FF, Chrome, Opera never had to deal with that.
Windows is on many levels the Internet Explorer of OSes.

MacOS has to be better coded because it doesn't have those concerns (or a fraction of them). That's for one.

For second, and I already explained you : Linux & Open Source world. It's like telling me "how can you say this car is better" while I'm talking about a reputable brand vs a brand that usually makes crappy cars and accessories, and generally works but doesn't perform very well. Yeah maybe the reputable brand can screw up, but more likely, not.

Third : Have we been living in the same world ? If you can't see that MacOs is more stable than literally EVERY version of Windows so far, I'm not sure what else to say. Whether you're talking plain crashes or error messages, for one I meet on MacOS, I have ...50 ? 100? on Windows. It gets better with recent versions but it's STILL crap.

I'm no Apple fanboy. I'm not a fan of the attitude, the people, the hype. If I could, I'd leave this behind.
But for working, this is the best compromise between performance, stability, and nice UI and software.
As stated, hardware on MBP is overpriced garbage, though.

Apple is doing a real disservice to it's core customers that evangelized their products.

It's obvious they are no longer interested in the Mac customer base. They should make OSX open source so it can be maintained as a linux distro on normal PC hardware.

Hey man NY-er here too. That's just one less person competing with us for the new MBP when it comes out :)
[doublepost=1475030023][/doublepost]
I would totally agree with you based on formal business propositions, but a tech company unveiling a new product is far different than that, haha. Apple really has no obligation to deliver the rMBP to us, and I guess it is in their best interests to veil the specifics for there to be a surprise.

Hmmm I don't completely agree. As mentioned above, this is not MBA or MB. It's MBP. We work with it. we don't care about gimmicks, we want power. We could have info the same way graphic card manufacturer explains what they're going to release and when.

I have to agree.

OSX is a pleasure to use and easy to maintain. On Windows one must worry about BIOS updates, driver updates for everything under the sun, the antivirus, etc. It not only takes time to manage but decreases stability as one dud driver can cause serious problems. Apple's control over the hardware helps enormously.

There are advantages to the Windows way, but it's also a way we wouldn't accept elsewhere in life.

That being side, I can no longer justify a MBP purchase, even with Skylake and Polaris. Apple's competitors are making thin, small, super-powerful laptops. They aren't perfect, but they are a better deal for me in my situation. My 2011 MBP 15" is the best computer I've ever had. Unless Apple pulls a rabbit out of a hat, it's also going to be my last Mac. And that doesn't make me happy. :(

I totally agree. I was a hardened Windows/Dos fan since the mid 80's, I knew Windows inside out and kept a tight ship that was reliable and stable. Yet it still was a pain.
I made the leap two years ago with a 2011 MBP i7 2.0 and LOVE it.
I will NEVER go back to Windows now.
I bought 2nd hand because I wasn't sure if I would like it, but now I am 100% ready to buy the latest and greatest MBP and the cash is sat in my account ready!
Every day my mind wanders towards just buying one now, but I know I will regret it as soon as the new one appears (IF it appears?!)

Hi everyone
I will soon visit my brother in Houston, TX; probably sometime in November, most likely the Thanksgiving week. I wanna get one of those new 13" rMBPs. It seems that the event will happen late or mid October; but when do you think they'll be available for purchase? I don't wanna come back empty handed ☹️ Also, do apple stores sell customized macs? Because I want 16gb ram on mine. Do you need to make reservation for that?
Thanks

personally what makes me stick to Mac..

display
stability
security
organization
quality of the components
some apps like Logic pro and Safari...
OS/Apps resolution support

and for the display i don't trust any other laptop display in the world not even the XPS or that new lenovo with OLED display..
