I think that its fantastic that all mac users will get a chance to get a new MacBook pro in October.

However, I was never keen about AMD graphic cards in laptops before (mac & PC) and I'll be interested on how well the AMD polaris chip (if they do indeed uses it in the 15inch) performs.

One reason is just the fact that the software is specifically made for the hardware. Same goes for iOS. And this isn't just an apple thing. The reason why consoles last years isn't because they run amazing hardware but because all the games made for them are built with just that one piece of hardware in mind. You can find tune and take 100% advantage of it where as if you are building something to just generically run on anything it will never have the same level of polish. Same goes for android. You can see that the nexus android phones run much better than just any other android device because they were made side by side with the software.

I agree with this. an iPhone can run just better than an Android device that has twice the powerful specs and it's for that reason. Android has to work with so many different HW configurations as does Windows. I'm an avid Android user(and fanboy to a point) just because iOS bores me after a while and I like to tinker and customize my device but the few times I did switch to an iPhone for a short period of time I just couldn't believe how well it performed compared to an Android flagship with twice as powerful specs. It's all about the SW optimization. Apple only has to design the OS for their HW.

Let's see if the upcoming Google Pixel phones will have that same kind of SW tailored for the HW as it seems that Google wants something similar where they control both the HW and the SW. With the Nexus line I think while the do have a say in the HW design and for for the SW is all them I'm sure the OEM has some say in the HW design and specs (the specs tend to match that OEM's current flagship device). With the pixel line it's being pushed as "made by google". The only thing I find odd about the new Pixel phone coming out is that it was manufactured by HTC (but will have zero HTC branding unlike Nexus devices that will still have the OEM logo somewhere) since the Pixel line so far has been devices that google has manufactured (well has gotten Foxconn to manufacture but they designed them etc..). My guess is that if the Pixel phone does well then next year they will take the HW totally in house like they did for the Pixel chromebooks and tablet.

So will it be dropping frames and all that jazz? But won't the new Apple Display be designed to work flawlessly with at least the computers of the same year it came out with? That's ridiculous...
When the Retina MacBook came out they were laggy like crazy.
The MacBook is an overpriced netbook.
If you have an iPhone and MacBook or the new "Pro" you can not plug anything between them without an adapter for each charge/transfer and headphone.

It should not be surprising.

guys... an macrumors article comes out today saying nothing we didn't already know with no official announcement from Apple and you guys all go crazy like the second coming of Jesus.

I think we have all lost it.

"MacRumors has learned that Apple is indeed moving rapidly toward a launch of the new MacBook Pro models"

This implies that MacRumors has learned something new. They're not Serban, but I'll believe them.

I will take 2 shots if anyone says, "it's the best laptop / macbook we've ever made" during the event.

Each time they say it? If so, you'll need a few bottles to get through the event.

I think you mean chug whatever you have

Lol, I'd go straight to rubbing alcohol if that happens. And a chaser of bleach!

I'm new, who is Serbian/Serban? I've seen both names referenced a few times in this thread. Is this person an Apple insider?

Good evening folks,

I'm a bit out of the loop in terms of rumored specs for the high-end 15-inch Pros. How do we anticipate they will do at gaming through Bootcamp? I love Macs for daily use, and would also enjoy being able to play modern games at 1080p on medium settings if at all possible.

Hey guys, so I'm scared that UPS/FedEx will cause substantial damage (They've done it a LOT of times to expensive items) if I order to ship to home. Do you guys think it'd be better to select "Store Pickup" when ordering when the new rMBP drops?

I've ordered expensive laptops from Dell and Lenovo before and they've shipped without issue...but if a local Apple store has the config you want, why wouldn't you get store pickup? It's available to be picked up that day and you don't have to wait for shipping. At least, that's what I did with my (now sold) mid-2015 mbp.

Speaking of this, does anyone still believe they are keeping the FN button on keyboards? I've yet to hear a convincing reason for it. I think we should start getting used to ESC being at the bottom of our keyboards.
esc at bottom
this would be the most catastrophic thing that could happen to rMBP
