regarding the ESC key and the FN keys, we should remember that they probably have to make a separate slot for the touch id power button, right? so im thinking, what if the ESC key is still physical and placed on the top left of the keyboard, then the keys F1-F12 are on the OLED, and the physical power button with the touch id ring around it is also a physical button placed on the top right of the keyboard. would that make sense?

basically, the OLED is the 12 FN keys, and to its right and left, there is a physical key of some kind.

The cMBP would be a great machine if they actually bothered to update it. i5-6287U, 256GB SATA SSD, 8GB RAM, Thunderbolt 3/USB-C and a 1440x900 IPS screen as standard for $899-$999 would make it an excellent machine.

See, this is why the MBA should stick around. Is it the prettiest machine? Maybe not (not anymore, at least). Does it have all the tech and bells and whistles? Nah. But it gets the job done at an amazing price. Perfect for those who don't need all that tech.

Just received some insider information.

Apple will make available the fn row as a dongle.

Pricing starts at $250 USD. $350 for one with an escape key.

If they have a media event, I hope that Phil does some trolling like with the 16GB iPhone.

"The revolutionary new MacBook Pro features the tried and tested Intel Haswell Processors!"

that sounds funny.. what trolling with the 16GB iPhone were you referring to?

That's not saying much given how pathetic the dGPU in the current (lol) MacBook Pros is..

Normally yes but the current MBP is packed with dinosaur technology, even archaeologists would have trouble pinpointing it's age.

alright fair enough guys. Good Point

But really how many other notebooks on the market at a similar form factor / thickness, have graphics faster than RX 480M??

Sure maybe the razer blade with 1060m. But that starts at $2,200 for the models w/o FHD.
And I would imagine it will have much less battery life than 2016 MBP. and I would guess 2016 MBP will be thinner.

I am not bashing on razerblade.

And I would also love to see a Geforce 10 series in the new MacBook pro. But I think the RX 480M will be a good choice

On A side note, there is so much stuff that is happening imminently. with in a few days or this month.

Invites for mac event,
Nintendo NX Reveal,
Google Pixel Event Oct 4.
Invites for microsoft surface event this month.
Civ 6 in a few weeks

I like it!! Will work great until the first time you forget to pull it off before you close the lid crush the screen bend the lid and pull those fancy new injection molded hinges out of the bottom case. I'd pay good money to watch it happen though!!

Would you pay the price of a 2016 MBP to see it happen? PM me, we can work something out. ;)

During the keynote when they first put the iPhone 7 lineup on the screen, it showed 16GB, 64GB, 128GB as the capacities. Phil then waved his hand and said "No, not those sizes!" and they switched to 32GB, 128GB, 256GB. You can find the few seconds of raging posts in the keynote thread. :D

True, it's pretty much the best we can get without totally killing battery life at this point.

I wish nVidia had a true mobile (ie: low power draw) chip ready for the 10-series. It's awesome they can fit basically a desktop-class card in a laptop now, but I fear the hit on battery life it's going to make. I'm not sure that trade-off is worth it unless you intend on keeping your laptop chained to an outlet.

Yea that would be cool. Like a 1050M, or a custom made 10 series chip for Apple MBP.

It would be nice if and when announcing the Macbook Pros, Phil waves his hand and says 'No, not those prices!'
And switches to prices $200 lower...but I'm dreaming. :)

Well I broke down and got a 13.3 MBP 8GB 512GB SSD retina at Best Buy $200 off retail. It will work just fine for me. Good luck to all in your waiting....

Of course, it's a personal choice and that's cool, but unless you really must have a new laptop right now, it's pretty silly to buy today when there's a 98% chance new MBPs will be announced in the next 10-20 days. And even if you had to have today's model for some reason, you could have gotten it for a lot less in a few weeks.

Not saying this to poke fun at you, just bringing it up for the sake of others.
