I'm curious.

What is with all the intense focus on GPU's in this thread.
I got the 2015 model because the CPU improvements are to small to justify delaying several recording gigs (10-15%). I always carry the charger so battery is of less importance. I just Wanted a mobile iMac.(ProTools, FCP, python and Xcode)

But it seems like everyone still waiting is justifying it with a need for a (probably) much improved gpu, both i- and d-. What is everybody doing that is so gpu taxing?

The 370mx is already so optimised in FCP that it crushes "better" gpu's on Windows with premiere, renderingwise.

I just want to understand the massive focus here.

Side note, I've NEVER tried a better keyboard, desktop or laptop, than this one. Loving it.
Are you talking about 2015 macbook pro?

It's gaming and 3D graphics work. That can be games or art, like digital painting. Nvidia GPUs in particular have CUDA which some programs like 3D Coat can use to boost performance.

Most mostly games for me. :)

Ps4 wasn't and don't think Ps4 pro will. Its not ps3 and cell time.

It was at its release, I don't know if that's changed since. I would imagine a new console release (even if it is a smaller update) would also be sold at a loss initially as they have had to create new moulds and manufacturing processes whilst using updated components.

No it wasn't, don't write bs

If you want to feel a good haptic feedback the TouchID should be close to the trackpad right? thoughts?

The touchbar will have taptic feedback so TouchID makes sense up there.

Give it up, it's not happening. The Air is a dead man walking. I seriously doubt the rumor that it's getting refreshed again after they bumped the RAM for one last lap. It doesn't fit in the lineup, especially the name. MB is the new Air.

MBA has had a bunch of rumors, including Gurman.

Apple needs an entry level, consumer friendly laptop. End of story.

9to5mac.com poll "Will you be buying the 2016 Macbook Pro"?
https://9to5mac.com/2016/09/29/2016-macbook-pro-launch-date-features/

Total votes: 7,298

Take my Money! - 56.32% (4110 votes)

Probably- 20.12% (1468 votes)

Maybe/Unsure- 11.83% (863 votes)

No- 6.39% (466 votes)

Unlikely- 4.48% (327 votes)

Other(see comments)- 0.86% (64 votes)

Guess people as a majority are positively receptive as a whole to the new purported features. "No" only accounted for 6.4%, or 314 out of 6,981 votes. Butterfly Keyboard, Thinner, Lighter, USB-C only, OLED Touchbar, TouchID for the win, and it is Apple's design philosophy moving forward.

I don't get your conclusion..

1.) "No" is not 314 but 466 votes
2.) Unlikely should be added to the non-buyers
3.) so is Others

Means, 11,73% won't buy it.

The current results look like this:
Take my money! 57.01% (5,220 votes)
Probably 19.94% (1,826 votes)
Maybe/Unsure 11.59% (1,061 votes)
No 6.13% (561 votes)
Unlikely 4.48% (410 votes)
Other (see comments) 0.85% (78 votes)
Total Votes: 9,156

Won't buy (see my points 1-3): 11,46%

But to add this: I am glad many people want to upgrade (so do I) and keep the macbooks alive :)

They can't keep using the 'Air' branding when there's a lighter/thinner alternative. So it becomes a what.

I'd put money on it, the Air dies without any major refresh and it goes back to MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Then again, people said that about the March, WWDC, and September so it's all meaningless anyway. If there's nothing in October, it has to be November, right?

I understand your point, but the difference is that taking a wait and see approach for 15-20 days would be prudent in this case.

Odds of hearing something today? Or will MacRumors have to start going postal like that video above to get anything?

That sure is a way to clear old stock
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

What are you folks getting?

Thinking of getting the 256 GB 13" MBP (Space Gray or Matte Black, if Apple is following the iPhone 7 coloring scheme). That is, if it is unveiled on Oct 24.

If it's not coming this year I'll settle for the rMBP 12". Can't wait anymore.

Forbes has a new article considering the XPS 15 vs the new MBP 2016 model.

http://www.forbes.com/sites/brookec...-2016-macbook-pro-15-eclipse-the-dell-xps-15/

“Even launching ridiculously late with Skylake[...] (Note: Matte’s reference to “launching…late” with Skylake means that Apple would be launching at the very end of its product cycle, i.e., just before the release of higher-end Kaby Lake mobile processors.)

OK, if the October release is true, we have to start seeing things soon. Right guys? Right..?

If the October release is right they have done a real job of keeping it under wraps, chassis leak aside. To think that week could be four weeks out from the release and all we have seen is that chassis.

Have been lurking for a while, but decided I should finally join you all in this agonising wait!

I think, negatives aside, this is actually really exciting! When was the last time you were genuinely surprised by Apple? Normally we go into these events knowing everything and they just act as a confirmation of what was expected. This time, we are going in blind! Its like being a kid on Christmas morning!
