Has someone think about London's Regent Street Store re-opening? It's planned for October 15th...and you know this is a really big event for Apple. They have spent a big amount of money to redesign it (Norman Foster has participated) and its one of its key Stores in the world.
This news, the new beta release of Sierra and the event re-schedule from 27th to 25th are all related in some way, in my opinion.
And Best Buy "New" Imac is really weird, a really big store to make mistakes like that. I think they are updating/preparing the website with the new releases under the hood...we'll see.

Question -

What are the chances that this thread gets a shoutout during the Mac Event? MBP unveiling?

This is what i expect to happen:

Timmy walks on stage. "Good Morning. I'd like to take a moment to talk about the Waiting for Skylake MBP thread.." *applause*

"You people need help. Please don't talk to me about your feelins, i'm not a dentist."

So earnings call moved to 10/25, which means that date is out for an event. And tomorrow... isn't happening.

That leaves 10/12 (a Wednesday because 10/10 is a US holiday), and 10/18 for possible October dates. The likely invite window for 10/12 has passed, so 10/18 seems the most likely at this point.

Or it could be press release in which case all bets are off.

See? That's how you GUESS without making yourself look like a Serban.

That date is not ruled out... At the end of the earnings call, Tim could say... "one more thing... We released a few updates to the macs... Please check out our website. Have a nice day!"

there were past events on a Thursday?

If thats true, then maybe they are scheduling the event for Thursday the 27th and moved the earnings call forward due to that
That's def a possibility. Well, Apple needs some good news for the call, so I still hope they release/present the stuff beforehand.

Macbook pro retina 13" out of stock at Mediamarkt.fr and some 15" configurations too. Here in Spain too.

I just made a quick look on JB hifi [local equivalent of BestBuy etc] and is indicating that say about 50% of the Macbookpros and iMacs are for delivery at :

Limited Stock Available:
expected to ship within 5-15 days

read into this what you will as I don't really check their normal delivery times. Is interesting though, and could well be winding down stock, as they had some recent 10% off sales [which are not out the ordinary].

"Well looks like you guys are going to have to wait some more, because I am here to talk about the new Watch Bands." *Serban walks on stage with three watch bands* "I was talking about watch band prototypes all along"

Apple.com shows tomorrow delivery for fastest, not slipping for me.

If that ever happens again I am going to go more crazy.

Who should I look for besides best buy? they show October 6th, with 2 day shipping. that looks normal.
I wouldn't do much else if you have to go out of your way to find information. If things are still slowing down by Wednesday, we're pretty much set.

It looks like Apple has a trend of sending invites a week (or 2) in advance of events (iPhone 7 event invites were sent on August 29th and the event was on September 7th which is 9 days apart). Past October events were held on Tuesdays or Thursdays (most of them were held on a Tuesday). So if Apple keeps the same trend this year, it sounds like the event could be held on:

- Thursday October 13th (if the invites get sent this week)

- Tuesday October 18th or Thursday the 20th (if the invites are sent next week)

- Tuesday the 25th is the investor meeting so that only leaves Thursday October 27th (if the invites are sent out the week of the 16th)

This takes into account having at least 9 days between the invites and the event (just like the iPhone 7 event). This also assumes that Apple is sticking to Tuesdays and Thursdays but keep in mind, the iPhone event was on a Wednesday.

Of course, if Apple decides to just do a press release, it could come at any time. What has me worried is the lack of rumors. I understand that the Macs are not as hot a topic as iPhone's but you'd think the rumor mill would be heating up a little more if we are this close.

See that's just the thing, we are farther than we all think -Serban

I highly doubt Apple would reveal their quarterly earnings before unveiling the new Mac lineup. If they hold the event on the 13th, they can release the line in time to show investors early results.

Yep. After their somewhat poor performance last year and earlier this year, Apple needs as much good news as possible to keep their stock going in the right direction.

I'd say if they don't do it on the 13th (which would be preferable), then they should reveal it no later than Tuesday the 18th and release it on Friday the 21st which will give them the chance to add launch day sales to their investor meeting. Holding the event after the investor meeting seems like a wasted opportunity. Looking back at their October keynote history, it looks like Apple definitely seems to prefer Tuesdays.

October 13th would be nice but realistically, if we really are getting an event this month, I'd almost be willing to bet money that we'll see invites go out next week for an event on October 18th. I guess we'll see if I'm right pretty soon.
