Is it possible those parts are probably being binned for Mobile Xeon, but since no one (besides Apple) seems to want 6870HQ (no need to wait for GT4e when you can go dGPU), they probably don't have much demand?

Yes, but I don't think Apple or BestBuy would hand that information to the IT team of their webpage (that would be super hard to control and keep an eye on). I think it was just a mistake. (But I hope it is not)
I agree, but how does it work when Apple does its "shipping today" deal. Do 3rd parties have to wait for stock?
Good point. Of course I don't know for sure, but I'd think they ship the new products a few days before launch. More days = more likely for the new product to be leaked.
The problems with the iMac are:
1) Even if they announce the event today, it would happen in no less than 8-10 days.
2) According to the history of iMacs releases, they are available around 1 month after announcement.
So I find it hard for that to be a clear sign of the specs of the new iMac.
However, I'm really curious to know how the "Shipping today" really works.
And when did I imply that Apple deliberately looks for leaked images for design, I was just simply stating that it leaked in late 2012. They might have appreciated the design and imitation is the highest form of appreciation. after all.
And first of all, we don't know how Apple designs things at all, have you personally worked there, if not, then you shouldn't be making sweeping statments from what little you gathered on the internet regarding their design process. You still haven't given me credible evidence regarding Apple designing things 2 years in advance, it could be more, it could be less.I may be a lay person, but I think the human eye is capable of spotting similarities between 2 objects, and many, including myself, did when the iPhone 6 first came out. However you seem to know more about "details", and I would love to hear more.

Third party suppliers are given release dates weeks in advance. There have been instances of carriers accidentally leaking iPhone release dates.
When was the last time a bunch of new posts meant actual news? Like, that's 2% of this thread.

idk, if you want to be able to run ANY app you might want to think about El Capitan and a 2015, call me crazy sure, but in business you might have an App you need to work... and if it's old and the publisher never got a certificate OOPs...

I hate that with Sid Meier's Railroad after upgrading to El Capitan. Couldn't do nothing until the app or whatever was updated.

Look, nothing in this thread is going to help us get our shiny new MacBook Pros any sooner. Checking this thread everyday will actually increase the time you perceive the wait to be taking. If you just want your Macbook Pro and to be done with it, quit paying attention and ignore it all until they are (hopefully) released.
If there is one thing this whole thread has shown over and over is that NO ONE ACTUALLY KNOWS ANYTHING about what's coming outside of Apple. I'd rather share a few laughs with other people who share the same suffering, than sit around being angry and sullen all the damn time, getting my hopes up everytime someone pretending to be a factory worker from china or whatever pops up and sells the latest snake oil.
Furthermore, just to be clear: RUMORS ARE NOT REAL NEWS! However, they are a form of socialization. If you want real news you should go to BBC / CNN/ AP / Whatever legit news source of your choice.

this is so true - we haven't really had a decent rumour for a very long time and the majority of this thread is repetition and dejavu . There is nothing wrong with having a bit of fun once in a while and the thread certainly needs it to keep it going.
I just don't understand the seriousness of it all. We will know soon if there will be a release this month. There are no new rumours, so we may as well stop visiting this thread until there is a headline on Macrumours. However, I can guarantee someone who has not bothered to read / keep up with any of it, will ask about Kabylake, graphics, OLED strip, butterfly keyboard, screen sizes [17".....] etc and we can continue to repeat our guesses on what it will be, whilst having a laugh doing it.
