Definitely wait, it would be a really bad move to even buy the current models now, as they will drop in price. If once you see the announcement, you don't like what you see then pick up an old one, the wait is painful, but really what would be worse is buying one now, then finding out you like the new models. At this point they have been in the works for years, so I expect it to be a big deal.
The wait kills me for sure, but I guess this one time would be more rewarding. Buying the current model isn't making sense now.

They'll be available to buy day of release I believe going off how it's happened in the past, the only waits will come with the customer spec upgrade versions and obviously if the demand is very high given its been years since we've seen a truly meaningful update

Is this true? Do the MacBooks come out the day of release? If that's the case then I am definitely waiting till the month end.

That's how it's been in the past, but who knows. It's likely that at least the 13" will ship day of since the chips for it have been out longer.

Not that I don't believe the refresh is this month/November... but why do people think the availability or shipping times or discounts in places like the UK or Netherlands.... matter more than their availability in the... wait for it.... United States?

A few CPU misunderstandings here!

The 12" MacBook use 4.5W Core-M (SkyLake Y-series) CPUs, not the 15W CPUs used by the MacBook Air

The MBA uses a 15W CPU (GT3 / HD 6000 iGPU)

The MBPs will use Iris or Iris Pro graphics (GT3e, GT4e) as you rightly indicate.

An ARM SoC for OLED would be interesting! Maybe it would pave the way for further Intel Core + ARM hybrids - mythical iOS/MacOS 2-in-1 maybe?
Hah, thanks bro, I was tired. I got the idea of a SoC from someone else on this board after we discussed the importance of Esc. Esc > Fn, in most cases. Unless they plan on rearranging the keyboard and put the Esc on the lower row, the Esc key would need to be accessible even if the system is about to crash (e.g., Force Quit shortcut is Cmd+Option+Esc). If it ran on an SoC, it would be independent of the OS and could run when the Mac is powered off as well (for Battery Display or Notifications).

So, after many failed Windows machines(more so dell and lenovos) I have finally decided to switch to a Macbook pro. Coincidentally my recent device failed a week back and I have been looking for a replacement. These recent rumors going around about a refreshed line of MacBooks have got my attention. Having decided on a MBP, and given that the new models would launch this month, I would like to know how long does it usually take for them to hit stores. /Basically, I am without a laptop until then. Or, would any of you for any reason suggest going with current line of MBP

Okay, first off, do NOT get one of the current lineup. Seriously, don't. It is ABSOLUTELY the wrong time to buy. You're very lucky because Apple is going to release their laptops very soon (they ARE!). I wouldn't expect it wouldn't be too long from when it's announced to when it's in your hands. Maybe 2 weeks? Not much longer.

Like @WRONG said, if you don't absolutely need the newest of the new, you might want to check out Apple's refurbished stuff. It'll be a bit cheaper than buying new. Personally I'd advise you to just hold on if you can. This time next month you will be holding your beautiful, amazing, brand new MacBook Pro :)

Round and around and around we go! When it stops, no one knows.

This article says the 27th, ( which seems most likely) : www.inquisitr.com/3566597/new-macbook-pro-2016-release-date-apple-rumors-price-and-more

I wish for: 16 inch screen, 64gb ram, 2 TB SSD, black W/ rainbow logo, mag safe, & a graphics card that can handle Civ VI on max settings.

Yes, I know I'm not getting that from Apple, but dreams are all we have for now, so why dream small?

A couple reasons. The Mac lineup is updated around the world at the same time unlike the iPhone where Apple may stagger a launch from country to country. And in many countries outside the US, Apple relies on resellers much more as their own retail presence is lacking or is simply non-existant. So Apple reducing shipments or stopping them completely for resellers is a fairly good indicator that Apple is discontinuing a product. In this case, while the old product may be discontinued, we of course know that a replacement is on the way.

In that case wouldnt you enjoy a 14" in the body of the 13" :)???

Yeah thats what I meant to say at the end. 12, 14 for MacBooks and 13, 15 for MacBook Pros, but imo wont that piss off the Pro users. If they're offering an underpowered 14 machine, but the more powerful is only limited to 13. I mean someone like me, who prefers 14, would get pissed at that. But everyone has their preferences, and so I cant speak for everyone right.

Will wait and see what the line up looks like, but I think I would prefer a smaller, lighter 13" than similar sized 14" [ideal for me is more powerful than macbook but lighter than a MBP which sounds suspiciously like an Air.......with a retina screen and no clumsy ali bezels]

I took my 2012 rMBP to an Apple repair person and he said that the logic board is dying. I can pay ~$600-1000 to have it replaced (but it will take 2-3 weeks) or I can buy a "new" rMBP. My rMBP understands the dire Skylake situation (I force it to render this thread every day) and has temporarily come back to life, but I hope Apple releases the update soon so that it can retire.

You make me laugh. I am on a unibody 2008 which is on life support. Everyday I wake up I hope it will work for one more day. following rumors, it was rumored that Apple might release an updated in late 2015, then it was March/16, then it was WWDC, then it became October. And So I still wait....

How did you even destroy your logic board? 4 yeas is average life for a computer.

shouldnt a mac last someone for at least like 6-7 good years? cuz all i read about is how long they last and how they work great for years after purchase?

meanwhile, today my "loaner" (for lack of a better word) windows machine completely froze up on me. apparently i cant have a video playing in chrome and microsoft word open at the same time.
