^Agreed. This is the first time we've had actual rumors pointing to a release. The last two times were just wishful thinking that ran contrary to the evidence. If there are no Macs by the end of this month, I actually will be legitimately surprised.
Exactly. Past disappointments weren't justified since we had warnings of nothing coming. This is the ONLY time were one could be legitimately disappointed.

Literally the only reason I would entertain switching to Windows 10 would be to play Xbox One Anywhere games (like gears). Otherwise, my objective is to get the new MBP and bootcamp just for those games...of course this is last on my list of things I need to do with a new MBP. My 2008 Unibody is about to die. I am completely tied into the Apple ecosystem. I use Messages on my Mac religiously.

OT: Anyone here from Zurich? I will spend a day there this month and would love to visit an apple store with a fellow forum member

Will ask for a Razer Stealth Blade, and I'll apologize in advance to my colleagues for swearing while I re-learn to use Windows :)

haha I like this, I am fully expecting the new (if released) MacBook Pro to disappoint me, yet I'm still holding on until the end of this month to see what they have come up with before pulling the trigger on a Windows Laptop or even back to a Windows Desktop.

I feel like I will need to re-learn windows again too, not really used it properly since 2010 and whenever I touched Windows 8 or 10 to help a family member they ended up teaching me the basics of the GUI before I could get to the OLD sort of windows options and settings I knew that were hidden underneath.

I am actually a little looking forward to returning to Windows for SOME things like gaming and such, I feel dumb when I use it nowadays.

I think Apple has pushed its customers loyalty and their considerations too far, and to boot have neglected the whole MAC range for far too long.

You guys looking for me ? But unfortunately I have no further clues about Apple's upcoming event this month.
Sometimes the silence means BIG thing, but it is no longer the Apple who surprised us with "One more thing..."
However, the only certain thing we all know is Apple rescheduled their fiscal Q4 2016 earnings call to Oct. 25, maybe the macbook pro will be unveiled after that date.

Well, I have to say that Apple has killed my patience successfully,
the most important thing to me is not how cool the MBP will be, but the invitation for their event.
no new rumors from the chinese forum? saaaad

Just please stop talking about TDP. PLEASE!

?? why?

What if they bring 4K to the 13" and 5K to the 15"? Similar to the iMac.

You are insane man....

Its quite possible that apple does a silent update, and no media event.
I doubt that

I said its possible, as they've done that before. Plus any new MBPs will most likely be on Skylake and not Kaby lake, so they'll not be on Intel's latest chipset, but the chipset that is soon to be replaced - seems kind of embarrassing to me that you would be touting such a great machine, but be using a chipset that is near the end of its lifecycle not at the beginning.
What is wrong with you people??

There is nothing embarrassing about unveiling a great machine (will be one of the best notebooks on the market) that is using the latest and greatest processor available. It is not near the of it's lifecycle. There will not be new CPU for the 15" MBP until 2018. and the kaby lake 28W for the 13" MBP would release at March 2017 at the latest, but more likely summer of 2017. Thats over 6 months away.

Awesome! Exciting. another reference to the 27th.

So seems like it will be the 18th or 27th. or possibly 24th.

:zzz no sources, no facts and obviously no clue

Will ask for a Razer Stealth Blade, and I'll apologize in advance to my colleagues for swearing while I re-learn to use Windows :)
I am about to help my little brother get a new Razor Blade Stealth.

Microsoft Event October 26th, People are speculating HoloLens, Surface Pro 5, and Surface All-In-One PC.

Oh Snap!!! I knew this was going to happen any second now! I am very excited for this, not as excited for the mac event. But I am very hyped to see this, perhaps surface book 2 as well.

So if this is on the 26th.... would Apple have an event the day after?? would be nuts.

Maybe Apple's event will be on the 18th?

Update:
http://www.theverge.com/2016/10/7/13202106/microsoft-surface-event-october-26th
actually the Verge says microsoft is not planning on refreshing surface hardware.. hmm. That's disappointing to me.

Maybe the purpose of this event is too show off how microsoft has optimized windows 10 for the 2016 MBP and the OLED Bar ;);):):Do_O

Because TDP is BS, these things are maxed out for Power Efficiency. With All of the things that Apple is doing for power consumption and power conservation, we have the best energy use on the planet for our phones and macs now days.

It's all just gibberish to keep up with, quit wasting time on. They are doing everything possible...

I mean just go back 200 pages and start reading it all over it's been discussed like 10 times over and over...

Do what you want tho HEHE...

Laters...

Yeah Apple's laptop lineup is a mess (the iPad lineup is pretty bad also and it looks like it will get more confusing next year. Are we moving to an iPad Pro only lineup).

What they should have is:

Low end MacBook: 12" retina screen, powered by some variation of the A10X chip that is going in next years iPads, 1 USB-C. This would bridge the gap between iPads and Macs and would be great for students who don't need a bunch of power. If they price it around $700 it could be the perfect entry level Mac. This would replace the Air.

Mid tier MacBook: 13" retina screen, powered by intel, 2 USB-C.

High end MacBook Pro: 13" and 15" retina screen with wide color gamut (maybe HDR), fast chips from intel, 4 USB-C, OLED touch bar.

Something for every price range. That should fix the low Mac sales.

I agree with you, I just want to add.

High end MacBook Pro: 13" and 15" retina screen with wide color gamut (maybe HDR), fast chips from intel, 4 USB-C, Thunderbolt 3, OLED touch bar, head phone jack and 12 hours of battery life. And a water resistant keyboard!

I think Apple is taking a dangerous path, we Apple fans that has been using their computers for ages are taking a hard hit. If I was not using Macs I would consider ditching iPhone/iPad Pro(hardly use) and going Samsung or even Pixel (even if I hate Big Brother Google).

Also trying to push IOS software on Mac OS. Look at iWork for example- it was going the wrong direction. Aperture! FCP! And so much more. I am starting to loose my loyalty to Apple, and are using Macs because there are no good alternatives for me.

No we didn't. In past occasions were the hype got out of control no single source had indicated the release of new MBPs. Before the march event there was nothing. Before WWDC, Kuo said Q4 (Verified by Mark G.). Then of course people started to believe (claim actually) he was referring to fiscal Q4, just because they wanted to justify something coming out soon. Before the September event reputable sources said no new macs, and again people still believed (expected) they were going to release them just because you know...magic and the power of belief. The "hopes / rumors / buildups earlier in the thread" you stated were just that, hopes and claims from those who "wanted to believe" nothing more.

isn't the end of fiscal Q4...right about...now? just like Kuo said?

I bet we'll see a new Thunderbolt Display alongside/very soon after it if the MBPs launch with Thunderbolt 3 as expected.

I'm very excited. My 2011 is lasting like a champ after its 512GB Samsung SSD and RAM upgrade two years ago (still feels insanely fast even with large-scale audio production at low latency when recording), but I'm ready for the Retina display that my girlfriend has on her 2015 13" model. Makes my display look awful, especially since Yosemite and particularly with Sierra.

All I'd need is a decent USB-C to USB-A cable for my audio interface and I'd literally be set. Bring it on!

Is anyone else pretty surprised we didn't hear anything this week specifically? I would've thought with the MacOS Sierra update and our proximity to the rumored event there would've been at least one piece of news to obsess over.

e.g. "New Sierra update includes drivers for OLED touchbar"

Hey guys... I'm confident it will happen this month. As I said before, 25th Anniversary is here and Apple will celebrate this with a show for sure.
One thing I'm wondering about, whenever there are new iOS devices usually there are hints like new product codes in the iOS (?) like iPhone 7,1 or 7,2 or whatever... don't we have anything like this for new iMacs, MBs, MBP or MBA? My apologies if this is a silly question.
