No, Apple's fiscal Q4 is May-Aug, hence the controversy and the whole "MBP @ WWDC" fiasco MR users started. Kuo was reporting about CALENDAR Q4 (Sept-Dec), which is why we will see MBPs this month.

No. Apple's fiscal Q4 ended on September 24, 2016, as you can see here:

What is Apple's fiscal year?
Apple’s fiscal year 2017 runs from September 25, 2016 through September 30, 2017.

Could Microsoft event be the reason for Apple changing the date of their earnings call either not to talk about Microsoft on it i. e. postpone to next quarter or maybe they want to present Macs after Microsoft so they had to move earnings back and Macs forth?
I don't think this is a coincidence: Apple Earnings 27, Microsoft event 26, Apple Earnings 24. They must've known about Microsoft event a week ago.
This is nuts if Microsoft indirectly made Apple change the date.

Anyway jeez I'm kinda holding back to buy both rMBP 2016 and Surface Pro 5 after buying soon to be outdated iMac a month ago. Microsoft is making me wait 19 more days. Apple, what would you do?!

Don't the journalists get mad at Apple for only giving a week notice for an event?

Apple news drives traffic and clicks. Last minute plans are nothing compared to getting that first look. I mean look at Gurman, getting paid good money to stalk Apple. Living the DREAM.

So what accessories are we buying for our new MBP's? Any we hope Apple to release alongside it?

I said its possible, as they've done that before. Plus any new MBPs will most likely be on Skylake and not Kaby lake, so they'll not be on Intel's latest chipset, but the chipset that is soon to be replaced - seems kind of embarrassing to me that you would be touting such a great machine, but be using a chipset that is near the end of its lifecycle not at the beginning.

Sorry to see the MR staff is contributing to this false narrative. There are zero Kaby Lake chips out for the MBPs yet, likewise those of the Skylake family for the 15" have yet to see the light of day. The vast majority of consumers have no idea what a Skylake or Kaby Lake is or anything to do with chip generations or life cycles.

Is Skylake "over" already when the workstation Xeons haven't even launched yet?

And if you ask why 15W and not 28W, i repeat myself once again: because with the added GT3 option (since skylake) on the 15W, these are very close to the 28W in terms of performance and any increase which is not significant does not justify the almost doubled power consumption.

The 15W and 28W numbers are TDP, not the amount of power drawn by the chip in operation. If you are only doing 15W worth of work, both chips will use the same 15W. However, the 28W chip can do a lot more work before it needs to be throttled.

I'd say it was foolish of Intel to expand the GPU and add eDRAM while keeping a 15W TDP. That's adding extra circuitry while keeping the same power budget. Hence, it may have to be throttled earlier. The result is a chip that might benchmark slower than a chip without these extras. This is sort of demonstrated by the Dell XPS 13 benchmarks talked about a few pages back.

It will be interesting to see how this all lines up with Apple just launching an updated MBP and Microsoft a AIO, updated Surface Pro and Hololens. If the latter gets launched, I will be a 1000 times more excited about that than an update laptop that doesn't actually do much more than what I already have.

Super excited about AR and the possibilities in my field [phyisical design] and hope Apple step up to the plate very soon [as Tim has insinuated the interest]. It will feel a little odd for Apple to be announcing some updated product and Microsoft the game changer.

This may turn out to be a very interesting month indeed.

You guys looking for me ? But unfortunately I have no further clues about Apple's upcoming event this month.
Sometimes the silence means BIG thing, but it is no longer the Apple who surprised us with "One more thing..."
However, the only certain thing we all know is Apple rescheduled their fiscal Q4 2016 earnings call to Oct. 25, maybe the macbook pro will be unveiled after that date.

Well, I have to say that Apple has killed my patience successfully,
the most important thing to me is not how cool the MBP will be, but the invitation for their event.

Tim Cook:
"Welcome. Thank you. Welcome. Thanks for coming today. We have nothing to show you."
/walks away, turns around
"Wait, I just remembered — there are 10 more things... Phil?"

Phil Schiller:
"Hi everyone. I'm excited to show you ten new things we've been working on. I know a lot of people have been waiting a long time, and I can explain why it took us so long to produce them in just one word: Courage."

Is windows still based on Dos? If so, there is no way I will switch.

I have committed to not have sex until the new MBP has been announced. And that was over 40 days ago. This is not sustainable Apple!

They must have deleted all the repeated comments on the fact that Kabylake not available or like most people not bother reading the thread and decide they can make a comment as fact when it isn't really true.

Opinion and fact seem to get blurred quite a bit around here......

Can't wait for Kabylake this October it will be amazing! At least 10% speed increase that 90% of the people dont need and integrated 4k for 1% of the population [I made these figures up, but hey may as well join the non-fact gang]
