So what accessories are we buying for our new MBP's? Any we hope Apple to release alongside it?

Sorry to see the MR staff is contributing to this false narrative. There are zero Kaby Lake chips out for the MBPs yet, likewise those of the Skylake family for the 15" have yet to see the light of day. The vast majority of consumers have no idea what a Skylake or Kaby Lake is or anything to do with chip generations or life cycles.

Is Skylake "over" already when the workstation Xeons haven't even launched yet?

Yes, KL is not happening for sure, they'll start launching suitable SKUs in Q1 2017, rest of your post is nonsense...

Sorry, but how "those of the Skylake family for the 15" have yet to see the light of day"? Have you not seen http://ark.intel.com/products/93336 and others? They're all "Launched" in the first quarter of the year.
(There won't be Xeons in the MBP, especially with the slimmer, reduced foot print form factor for sure...)

You must be new here. "Launched" yes, shipping no. The 6770/6780/6790HQs with Iris Pro 580 are nowhere to be seen, except for the 6770 in Intel's own Skull Canyon NUC which shipped in August if I recall. That was the first sighting of ANY of those chips in the wild, and still is to the best of my knowledge — there are ZERO laptops shipping with those chips.

There are no Kaby Lake quad cores with Iris Pro (4+3e) or Iris (4+3) graphics on the roadmap at all.

You'd know this if you had been paying attention to this thread.

Is windows still based on Dos? If so, there is no way I will switch.

I have committed to not have sex until the new MBP has been announced. And that was over 40 days ago. This is not sustainable Apple!
Dude, don't even think about Windows, people in groves, again are going back to 7 from 10.
If I have to get into this $#!+ one more time... :D

The reason laptops don't ship with these CPUs is because they're usually either on the lower end of the spectrum or they're gaming laptops focusing on the dedicated GPU, so going with the lowest level of quad core i7 that'll give them pass.

The Skull Canyon actually shipped in May and there's Clevo laptops with higher-tier Skylake CPUs than the NUC has as well...

Tons of dongles, of course.

As much as incredible this may sound, but Intel ark website is totally misleading.
I don't understand why it is changed, but from January till June the H-CPUs were "Announced", not "Launched".
In fact, the only computer using them was (and still is) just the Skull Canyon.
"Launched in first quarter" my àss, Intel..

25 January there was the price list of the GT4e Skylakes, and...

Skull Canyon started shipping around half June. Since then, almost no computer has used those H-CPUs, that by the way are more powerful / efficient than the others.
Furthermore, H-Kaby Lake for 15" doesn't exist and never will.

Apple news drives traffic and clicks. Last minute plans are nothing compared to getting that first look. I mean look at Gurman, getting paid good money to stalk Apple. Living the DREAM.

What kind of dough do we think Gurman makes here? 100K, 200K?? Cause I would love to be Gurman then!

Only 40 days!??!? NOOOOB! I've lasted 22 years :(.

I got my Skull Canyon at the very end of May, so they definitely started shipping by the end of May.

I think what's happening with the H series CPUs is not that they haven't been released, but if you actually look around on the Windows threads, it seems that Skylake has very low yields, especially for the higher-end parts, so I just think they're technically "out", but not really in numbers out on the market.

For KL, no they don't have exact counterparts there, which was the reason for this article: https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/22/intel-mobile-roadmap-coffee-lake/ but there are going to be quad-core KL chips that could be paired with dedicated GPU for the MacBooks.

I wouldn't bother planning which accessories to buy until the machines are released, you just never know what they are going to do with the i/o. Seem to remember HP requiring their power brick to deliver power to the USB C ports on the new Spectre.

I just wish Apple would open the developer tools up to other platforms now tbh.

I know this means nothing because it's today (and I'm new). But siri says......

On a related note is anybody running Sierra? Dear me its an absolute dog. Do any of the new "Features" actually work? Unlock with the watch and Universal Clipboard are absolutely atrocious, haven't actually seen either of them work yet

Yeah, it means nothing. Believe me, I checked:

This wait's getting bad

EDIT: This was a few days ago. That's why I naïvely asked about the event on the 14th.
