Me to Tim Cook every time the release was put off for another event:

I hope to not get any accessories to be honest, other than a carrying case. At the moment, I'll probably need a USB-A to USB-C converter, but I'm hoping that I can get an external HDD with a USB-C cable already, same goes for the cable to my camera (because there won't be an SD card slot!)

Macbook Bros
Waiting for the Macbook Pros

Where the MacBook hos at? ;)

As usual:
- nice carrying case
- UAG protection case
- 128 sd card

If Apple has the stupid idea of less ports and more dongles then I'll pass altogether.

Its Oct. 8 , if Apple was going to release a new macbook pros this month, wouldn't they announce their event by now?

Honestly, that's marginally different nowadays if you're buying from a reputable brand like Dell. What is different though is the user experience. macOS lets you do things without getting in the way...and there's the incredible trackpad. The moment Microsoft can beat Apple at those two things, I'd switch. However, I don't see that happening in the near future.

Honestly, everyone still buying macs because of OS X. Windows is horrible for me. Hardware wise, we all know the cheaper more capable hardware are on the wintel machines and with laptoprs like Surface book and HP Spectre, Apple's are not the only nice looking ones.

For the iPhone 7 event, Apple sent out invites 9 days in advance. We know Apple favors Tuesdays for their events but that could certainly change. However, if Apple sticks with their 7-9 day invitation notice, we might see invitations go out as early as the beginning of next week. Thats if Apple decides to do a big event.

As we get deeper into October, it seems like the possibility of a smaller event might be more realistic. We could end up seeing an event where no public invites go out, Apple only sends notice to the big name press (Cnet, Engadget, etc) and we get a small press conference, video, press release and launch on the same day.

So don't get discouraged if you don't see invites going out.

Im thinking 18th for the event, 10/11 for the invite.

Or no event at all, which is way more likely. If this is THE major MBP redesign ever we should be flooded with leaks.

I'm not going to set myself up for dissapointment :|

I think 10/11 for the invite, 10/19 for the presentation. Really hope it's at least in that week..

John Gruber - to coin a phrase - has 'soft-confirmed' the 27th as the MacBook event... I always get the impression that he knows for sure but gives a strong indication...

That’s one day before Apple’s event to announce new MacBooks on Thursday 27 October — if Apple moved its earnings from the 27th to the 25th to make room for an event.
Oh this is a promising tidbit, I would bet that he probably knows by now.

4K monitor, wireless mouse, USB-C external drive, blu ray reader/writer, USB-C to DisplayPort cable and 2 USB-C to A adapters.

I think I'll get the LG 27UD88 as a 4k display, which has a USB C port and able to power the mac/pc from it, so no need for a USB-C to display port.
Plus it also has a couple of USB 3 ports.

I don't want to invest in a display until OLED 4K displays become cheaper. Ive used enough LCDs, time for OLED. Also, I make short films as a hobby, would love to truly edit the darkness. Usually, I cant see much on a LCD in terms of night scenes and have to crank up the brightness or reshoot with more lighting, however seeing it on my brother's S6 AMOLED screen, I can see all the details are vivid and preserved.

I think when OLED does become the industry standard, more and more films will actually be shot at night. Instead of shooting in around evening, and then cging out the sun and darkening the image. YUCK

What do we do if by the end of October there is nothing ?
Does it automatically means it's postponed to March or we still have some hope for something in-between

We all switch to something else.
But is not going to happen.
- Lot of trusted analyst are saying "it's coming in october!"
- There were leaks about the MBP being worked on
- Apple sells of Mac are slowing down, and I doubt they will be dumb enough to stay one year without upgrading every Mac (MacBook is not a real Mac don't bother)
- In addition, does really Apple want to miss holiday seasons sale with new products? They already missed the Back to School program, I don't think will be missed even December...

Does anybody else feel Microsoft has announced their event on the 26th purposely because of Apple announcing theirs (maybe on the 27th as rumours suggest) this month. Personally I refuse to deny that Microsoft must have ears to the ground re. when Apple plans to drop the macs this month hence their event to gain a head start on the market

I'm buying them because I have to. They refuse to make the developer tools available to other platforms. If they did I would never buy another Mac again.

Honestly baffled as to why anybody who has got the choice would bother.

He's guessing. Why would they schedule the earnings call just to have to move it? If they were planning to hold an event surely they would've know that before the call was scheduled?

Right here's my somewhat educated guess on the timelines for October..

  • This week: MacOS Beta is finalised and ready for release
  • 19th/20th October - invite drops 7-8 days out to fit the rough timeframe of past October Mac Events:

(16th Oct 2012 invite > 23rd Oct 2012 event)

(15th Oct 2013 invite > 22nd Oct 2013 event)

(8th Oct 2014 invite > 16th Oct 2014 event)
  • 27th October - Macs Event with purchase day of announcement with 1-2 week wait for custom config builds
  • 28th October - funeral of this thread RIP, it's been real
