I really hate to be that guy but I've gone about 3 weeks now without a laptop for school... I think I might just go in and buy a 12" rMB just to use it which should spare me 14 days to see if there will be a release this month...

If there's no invites by Wednesday, I am getting a MacBook Air 2015/11 on Wednesday Night.

I want my Air and I want my Pods

There probably won't be any invite before the 17-21 Oct. timeframe, if you lasted this long, I'd say it's worth the two week wait till an invite drops.

Here's something to make you laugh from University Herald:
"If the November launching date is happening, then the original plan of Apple has been followed. This statement was supported by Mac Rumors when they reported about the original launching date of MacBook Pro 2016.

Aside from the conflict in schedule, one rumored reason cited for the November release date is the possible launching of the presumed iPhone 8. Google has seen mocking Apple these days upon the released of Pixel phones and this could be the reason why rumongers has intently spreading rumors about iPhone 8 early launching date.

Apple has not issued any statement regarding the final date of the launching event. Apple is still negotiating with Sharp regarding the iPhone 8 OLED panels and BGR said that the production is likely to start in 2018."

Talk about "journalists" stealing a living

agreed, previous October invites have always been either 7 or 8 days before the actual event so if 27th October is indeed correct then its pretty obvious we won't see invites until 19th-20th. So many impatient people smh

Apple could try something different this year and do it on the 15th of November to maximize sales during the Black Friday shopping event even though Apple doesn't partake in discounting their products, even if they're 4 years old on the current iteration.

which makes it more ridiculous, if you've waited a year you can surely last another 2-3 weeks? But no it makes more sense to cave and pay over £1000 for an outdated product
They're literally at the doorsteps of Apple's announcement, and now they decide to turn back... lol.

Treks the long journey, turns back just at the doorsteps.

Whatever, more for us. Less people to fight us for preorders :)

You're right, at his August 29 article he said that he didn't expected them anymore in September but if you look at his August 10 article :

"Interesting. I definitely expected them to be announced at the September event, even if they’re not available for sale until late October or early November. " (source : http://daringfireball.net/linked/2016/08/10/gurman-mbp)

He changed opinions, which isn't a fault or something. I'm just saying you shouldn't always trust the instincts/rumors of Gruber.

At the time his thinking was that there would be one event only. Clearly now that can't be the case.

Reminds me of a joke I once heard.

Three guys were stranded on a remote island. They're informed that the only way they'd be able to leave is if they swim for it. The first guy tries, but drowns before he gets to the 1/4 mark. The second guy makes it a bit farther, but he too drowns. Then the third guy tries. He swims and swims and swims until finally he reaches the halfway mark. Gasping for breath, he decides that he can't do it. He decides that living alone on an abandoned island is better than drowning.

So he turns back.

Well, I finally caved and ordered a fully loaded 15". I found a really great deal at my local Best Buy and I just couldn't pass it up. They actually threw in an external SSD which I can store photos on. It's been a hell of a run, but I've really lost hope at this point. I've been thinking about this for far too long. Apple just doesn't care about this product segment anymore. I just know we'll be disappointed and not see anything until the spring. It's been painful going from event to event without any sign of new machines. I tried my best to cling onto every rumor we could get our hands on, but I mostly just see iPhone news, even rumors about next year's phone. I heavily debated the MB and the iPad Pro but just couldn't make the compromise. Even the iMac seemed like a good choice but Apple's spinning hard drives and high upgrade prices made me weary that I wasn't getting the best bang for my buck. I even shopped around at the various Windows offerings thinking I could stick with Windows 10 for a bit longer. I just really, really wanted a Mac so I could fully integrate with macOS. I guess this'll have to do. So, if you haven't realized by this point, I'm totally joking. I'll never give in. I'll never surrender. I'll wait for this machine or die trying. Keep fighting the good fight, guys and gals.

I just started waiting for the MacBook Air, like 4 days ago, but I am trying to lock in my dongles and peripherals, with my 4 macs that I use regularly all with macOS Sierra, and cloud etc. It's like I found a pretty cool page for some good dongles, but it's just like come on man, I want my machines:

http://www.uptab.com/usbc-hdmi-usb3-typec-adapter.html?gclid=CNPr1u61ys8CFdRyfgodl48NwQ

The above is making wait a little longer but, it's just getting to the point of is it's going to happen or isn't and I already have adapters that I had for my MacBook Air 11(2012) that I just sold, so... I mean to me it's like I gotta by $150 worth of adapter and wait for china etc. Because I use L-Adapters (90 degrees) etc. What's nice is with the reversible type-c one 90 degree is actually 2 L-adapters in one, another reason to wait but MAN!

I already waited for the 2016 rMBP, couldn't wait got a 2015/15, now I am waiting for the MacBook Air 2016/11 and it's I am caving quick. Check this out:

If they make an Air 11 you will go from:

MagSafe Thunderbolt2
USB3 USB3

TO->

Type-C Type-C

Those are ( Left | Right )

But with that adapter link I posted it won't be a problem, but man
Halloween is coming!

DAMN IT!!!

Sorry but you didn't trick me!

Ah, you beautiful b*strard, I knew you'd never abandon us! Thanks for the laugh though :p

The 12" rMB, despite what you may hear here, is a fantastic product. Just be aware of the value you are purchasing - the most ubiquitous and portable notebook you will ever own, NOT the most powerful. I picked one up when they upgraded the spec earlier this year, and despite my early 15" rMB Pro being technically a better computer (more powerful with a better screen), I found I was using the 12" significantly more, just because it was so easily portable. The key is that it is powerful /enough/, so that the portability can shine.

Alas, portability was its downfall. I got caught in a thunderstorm on a 15 minute walk between offices, and it no longer boots. Water damage is not covered by my AppleCare, so an $800 lesson in finding a proper cover :(

They're dropping like flies!

So what accessories are we buying for our new MBP's? Any we hope Apple to release alongside it?

I hope they release some sort of a dock that can support dual displays, one being 4K. I'm not holding my breath as OS X doesn't even support displayport daisychaining.

I too had that wish. But considering how Apple hasnt even brought out OLED to its iPhone, their flagship product, I highly doubt we're going to see it in their external displays.
I think this is about yields. A 5K OLED iMac would not be available in the quantity of the iPhone. Also, the Apple Watch OLED's are much smaller than the iPhone displays and are also produced in a much lower quantity. It makes sense for Apple to do a slow roll-out of OLED across their line-up. First the Watch, then the rMBP keyboard, then the iMac, and finally the iPhone.

The iPhone already has a great display, for OLED to be a definite improvement it absolutely has to have high yields so that QA won't be an expensive endeavour.

You got me a little worried there in the beginning.
