You're right, at his August 29 article he said that he didn't expected them anymore in September but if you look at his August 10 article :

"Interesting. I definitely expected them to be announced at the September event, even if they’re not available for sale until late October or early November. " (source : http://daringfireball.net/linked/2016/08/10/gurman-mbp)

He changed opinions, which isn't a fault or something. I'm just saying you shouldn't always trust the instincts/rumors of Gruber.
Not really. If you read his article carefully, you see that he bases his opinion on the fact that he was told Apple nog longer wanted to do October events. He expected an September announcement for a late October release, so he was kinda mixing both options into one.

I'm guessing no one here is going to heed the advice to never buy a first model year product. :)

I will. I'm probably going to buy it late next year. However, I need them to come out with it this year, so I can buy it next year...and thats why I am as excited as everyone else.

So, I'm sure many will immediately buy the MBPs as they need it for work. Others like me, will wait in hope for OLED and refinements.

the only thing that i am thinking could go wrong would be the OLED touch bar. everything else shouldnt have an issue. theyve been using touch id for years now, the trackpad isnt new, the keyboard wont be new. the ports are what they are. the OLED could possibly not function after awhile i guess, but i guess i'll take that risk,

I'm sure Apple is aware of the pent up demand. They have us by the balls. Plus, I wouldn't be surprised if they're back ordered for a few months too.

I would hope that the delay was merely a case of waiting for Intel and not struggling with manufacturing yields from some new unibody process to make the MBP even 'thinner'.

Given the Intel roadmap, and how much Apple care anymore about Mac, the new MBP could be seriously the "last" one.

Or it could be the last *serious* one. Look at what they did to the Mac Mini. what a shame.

A future pro could have ULV processors and not a damn thing we could do about it except scoop up the existing stock. MAN that hurts to think about.

Oh without a doubt this lineup coming will be the last Mac lineup, barring any partial Skylake to Kaby Lake silent upgrades...I mean idk I guess in 3 years they could make their last... to me tho WHO CARES, because I will go ARM and be ready...

If it has everything I want then I'll buy it, and then buy Apple Care for it right before it hits one year old. If it breaks after 3 years then I'll just buy the spare parts myself and repair it.

And if everything is soldered together? Will that factor into your decision to buy?

So I gave in (temporarily) today guys... I just need a laptop for school so badly and honestly the 2015 model is just fine for my needs but at this point I might as well get the new one right?

I bought the rMB just because I always wanted to try it... Hopefully the invites go out within my 14 day period so I can return it comfortably.

I know I'm a bad person for doing this :-(

Not creepin, but I see an Apple Magic Keyboard (hinting you have an iMac) and I see a MacBook Pro Retina 13 inch covered with stickers in the back. Why did you buy this, if you plan on returning it?

You clearly have a computer for school.

You are a bad person.

lol, i dont think there's anything wrong with this. its a return policy for a reason. i did the same, except i got a windows machine from costco. their return policy for laptops is 90 days, so i can rest easy knowing that im good until december.

Haha I knew someone would point it out, that's my 2015 13" rMBP, that I unfortunately lost in a car accident 3 weeks ago, hence my hiatus as an university student without a computer since then. It was revived for 2-3 days after I tried plugging it into an external monitor but just died altogether pretty much.

The keyboard and Mouse is for my friends laptop that I've been borrowing with broken keys. (been really desperate to use any computer/laptop)

I know I'm a horrible person just for doing the whole "trial run" thing :-( but I can still return it right even if I use it? Do I have to wipe it before returning?

I really wanted to wait until end of the month hopefully for the release but typing papers on a 7-8 year old laptop that freezes after six words gets to me.. I feel like I'm falling behind in school just because I don't have access to one lol.

Well, you're not as bad as Apple. Don't shame yourself. They test our loyalty, you test theirs. Thank you actually. I wish everyone would do it to Apple. Maybe they'll learn then that if you can't update (and I doubt even this - IMHO they can but they won't until specific date), you at least hint when the update is going to happen. **** them.

Did you get a 2015 or 2016 MacBook? Nothing wrong with those, and currently Apple's only hardware to get shown some luv. If it had a Thunderbolt port i'd look twice.
