You guys remember when we were speculating about having no keyboard at all, just a touch-surface and haptic-feedback emulated through some kind of haptic engine instead of real keys? Lenovo has done it. Go look up the YOGA Book. I just hope Apple doesn't get any crazy ideas...

It still IS a beautiful device though. To look at.

It's possible right now to buy 2015 MBP's with dgpu, 2.5ghz, 16GB of ram for around £1,600

Do you think those would outperform a similarly priced skylake 2016 MBP when they're released? (it'd be without a dgpu i'm guessing.)

So they offer either Android or Windows running on an Intel Atom processor. Is this more a competitor to an iPad?

What do you think about that 64Gb hard drive?
edit: (the system does allow for a microSD card up to 128 Gb)

I just couldn't wait any longer and bought a macbook pro today. I still have doubts that anything will be released this month but either way i'm happy and will stand by my decision.

I don't want to invest in a display until OLED 4K displays become cheaper. Ive used enough LCDs, time for OLED. Also, I make short films as a hobby, would love to truly edit the darkness. Usually, I cant see much on a LCD in terms of night scenes and have to crank up the brightness or reshoot with more lighting, however seeing it on my brother's S6 AMOLED screen, I can see all the details are vivid and preserved.

I think when OLED does become the industry standard, more and more films will actually be shot at night. Instead of shooting in around evening, and then cging out the sun and darkening the image. YUCK
Me too. Had enough of IPS glow.
May try an LG 4k oled TV. I don't expect oled monitors any time soon.

We haven't seen it yet. They wouldn't add it if they didn't think it'd be useful. Let's wait and see.
Right. Cause apple is logical....

I think not. There's plenty of space for a high-quality dual-core computer in the Mac lineup:
  • The MacBook is the super-portable fun machine. For people with dough to blow.
  • The Air is the cheap, portable, but useful machine. For the people who need a good computer and like the Apple ecosystem, but don't have the money or need for a professional device.
  • The Pro 13" is the average-sized general work machine. Meant for the average public who like using their computer for more than just the bare essentials and have money to spare. Dual-core machine is good enough for this, as long as the processors used are quite a bit better than those used in the Air.
  • The Pro 15" is the truly professional device. Useful for all but the most niche users. You can play any game you want, but maybe tweak the settings down a bit. You can edit dozens of hours of 4K video no problem, but it might occasionally be a tad slow. THIS computer has to be quad-core, no question. Dual-core would just be silliness

This sums it up pretty nicely.

Now we know why Apple moved their earnings call 2 days forward. Without any mac announcements, having an earnings call the day after Microsoft revealed their iMac competitor would be embarassing. Let's hope there are Mac announcements... Please.

I'm just saying. Microsoft has an event, earnings call was rescheduled. The stars are aligning. The end (of our wait) is near!

Oooooh....I thought you were tryna be all funny and trick us into thinking that the Apple event was on the 26th!! Sorry. These days I'm a little jumpy when it comes to dates.

I know there's such thing as iphone preorder pickup in-store (instead of delivery), but there is such an option for Macbook Pros, when they come out, right?

I wouldn't bother pre-ordering. I don't remember the last time there were actual shortages of Macbooks; just walk in a couple days after release.

On the potential date of an event its pretty much going to be after the earnings call at this point I think. They need to give invitees at least a weeks notice and they are obliged to be quiet for a week or so before the call. Makes it unlikely to be before the call now unless the invites are out in the next couple of days.

I love gaming.
I have a PS4 for that.
Not wanting to offend anyone, but given the challenge of putting some serious graphical power into a thin envelope like a MBP one should consider their priorities. A MBP is a workhorse first, at least to me. If Apple allows (or even delivers a first party solution for it) something like the razer core, things change entirely of course!

Considering Razer is able to put a desktop GTX 1060 into something as thin as the Razer Blade, or Dell putting a GTX 960M into the XPS 15, Apple really has no excuse. Especially since the 15" rMBP is thicker and has the largest foot print by far of the three. It seems like they are more interested in keeping the 85W power supply than anything else.

Hahaha really? There are never shortages on Macbooks/Macbook Pros when they are first launched? Not even when a redesign/new product is launched(retina MBP 2012, Macbook), instead of just a spec update of an existing model?

Don't go for LG, whatever you do don't go for LG. If you have to go with the exploding phone company, Samsung, go; but never LG - they're ****. Hopefully Sharp and Japan Display begin shipping OLED panels for monitors quickly.
