Apple Town Hall? Tim mentioned that it would probably their last presentation there (unless they release some whizbang watch strap that they just have to gush about. I think they'd present out of a Marriott ballroom so they don't have to go back on their initial statement.

@1:01

I stand corrected, I didn't watch that event all the way through. So long Town Hall

Lurker of this thread since several months reporting in. I have absolutely nothing of substance to share, just couldn't handle the intensity of the wait anymore and had to blurt out something o_O My body is god damn ready for this new MBP:apple:

Ok. What do you think are the chances that they will offer a 2TB SSD storage option? I'm worried about that... I bet more storage will be available on the 15", but I'm concerned about the 13".

I currently have 2 1TB drives in my 2008 MBP. I'll need at least 1.5TB (preferably 2) of fast storage for my mobile rig. I'm sure I'll pay out the nose for it, but it's worth it so I can actually do my work on an airplane.

They most likely won't go over 1TB

That would fit the expectation of some, that Apple doubles the storage. (13" starts at 256GB, 15" at 512GB).
I'm also curious if they offer an 32GB RAM option and how much it will be. For the iMac, they charge 400 bucks when you upgrade from 16GB to 32GB..

Zero chance. Would you want to pay what they would charge for that anyway?

I think apple uses the m.2 connector and Seagate had the first 2 TB announced the first one in July 2016. Im going with doubtful.

On the bright side Thunderbolt 3 and USB C will be close to full speed.

If I were doing important video work, I'd use external drives anyway. If the laptop is lost or stolen, at least I'd still have some of the backup data on external drive.

Plus, as people have said, the USB-C / TB3 would allow for super fast external drives anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much about the disk space in the new MBPs.

Just a random thought. Wouldn't be funny if Apple used the Intel GPU just to run the new Function Bar and had to put in real DGPU for the display. I do think the Macbook Pro will see a screen resolution bump.

Zero chances for 2TB SSD. Too expensive, not really needed, iCloud will be the storage extension.

No invites today... it's Columbus Day in most parts of US of A.
Maybe tomorrow. But the very reliable source from China (a Chinese) said they come wednesday!

Ah guys... the last pages seem like a loophole.
Every day the same questions and date guess...

14th of October 2008 the MacBook Pro unibody was announced. My main computer will celebrate its 8th birthday.

Same as my wife.... will be awkward taking my laptop everywhere we go. Lol

They better, 32Gb isn't even enough.

Sure. I mean is there even going to be a choice? Seems likely *everything* from here on out will be non upgradable. So if you want future proofing, buy the max at time of purchase.

More dongles / external crap for everyone!! If my laptop was lost or stolen, most likely that external drive is gone too. Dedicated backup drives or cloud is for backup. I like/ having multiple internal drives for audio production. Seems like "portable" now means you have to haul a whole array of **** just to get to normal functionality. At this rate I'm wondering when they release an Apple Packmule?

Anyhoo. What are you all planning to do when they eventually kill the Mac?

I'm not concerned with Mac hardware, it's already dead in my eyes so anything release is a bonus. MacOS , hopefully it's kept alive somehow so that we can run it in a VM on Windows. I mean, maybe open source or maybe it's own company entirely. I'd pay good money for a copy of Mac OS I could order off of Amazon.
