Except maybe not. The leaked Intel roadmap shows that Kaby Lake will not include a processor that matches the Skylake i7-6970HQ. It's likely that the Skylake-based MBP will outperform the Kaby Lake-based Dell XPS.
Yeah, I'd be happy with a Skylake refresh this month. By "dropping the ball", I was referring to Apple doing nothing...which seems to be highly unlikely....at least in my mind (ie after reflecting on all of the information I've garnered by quickly pursuing all 28028 posts in this thread;--)

Me, waiting for new rMBPs

Aren't the coffee lake gt4e chips due in Q1 2018?

Isn't it therefore likely that we'll see a skylake MPB 15 this month, then perhaps another small spec bump this time next year, then a coffee lake MPB 15 at the end of Q1 2017?

The leaked Coffee Lake roadmap, doesnt even list GT4e chips... and there are opinions that Intel is dropping the highest iGPU lines after the skylake.

Pair that with Nvidia advertising for Apple related jobs... and methinks the next MacbookPro (after Skylake hopefully released in 16 days!!) will have a GT3e iGPU and an Nvidia dGPU...

For those who have the fear that Apple are giving up on making "real computers", relax - that is virtually impossible. Without Computers, no apps for iphones = no $$$.

It will be unveiled this month, 99.9%! Don't believe all this March rubbish, there is nothing waiting for Apple in March (no Iris Pro QC). Skylake with Iris Pro will be used.

We always talk about processor, but what if the OLED with embedded TouchID is the bottleneck? What if they announce in October and release in March because of supply chain issues? What if I'm just saying this to make you hate me? :D

Haha, I hope you're right. We'll know in a week unless the media is under embargo.

maybe somewhat off-topic: What are the limitations of the forum? How many posts per thread can be handled before we break the forum?

And a very naive question: Why wouldn't Apple order customized or "exclusive" CPUs (from Intel) to fit exactly their purposes (chipset, RAM, cores, powerage, w/ or w/o iGPU)? Maybe the intel roadmap does not provide the full picture of possibilities.

Hope the Brits are preparing themselves for a reasonable price increase?

If prices haven't already been adjusted for the current version - one should really consider buying before the update.

When the NOK crashed against the USD Apple increased their prices quite significantly in Norway.

Could easily see 10% increase and maybe as much as 20%.

Completely agreed. UK prices are going to go insanely high after the 2019 refresh, Euro probably similar, although not so much. Starting at €1649, probably.

If the new MacBook Pros don't get announced this month I'm going to find out where Tim Cook lives, rush over to his place and......show him the link to this thread so he can see how many people he has turned into madmen for not having released the new MacBook Pros yet.

It's either that, or kidnapping him to the macrumors™ headquarters for interrogation with the help of Gurman and Ming-Chi Kuo so that we can release some juicy info about the macs to keep people from going completely insane heheh
I'm in. I was personally hoping for something a little more violent though.

Tim would destroy you all, whilst it is being recorded, and have Jony Ive narrate the whooping.
Yea right, we can take that old man.

Hey man, I heard the SP4 turns a year old this October o_O You gotta wait man, MSFT and Satya Nadella gonna release a new one anytime now man, trust me, man. Not future proofed, man. Man.
I thought surface pro 5 was going to be updated this month, but latest rumors says its not. Also the high-end kaby lake chips it would use are not going to be available for awhile.

Count me in the group too... I think we have a few 'sub-groups' on this forum...

Shiiiit.

I won't believe it even then. I'll spend the first few months convinced that I'm in one of Serban's fevered delusions.
poor, Serban was just driven insane from this thread. And soon all of us will be too.

You'll see a story about it on our front page.
And they usually go out around 9am Pacific right?? so like right now?

I shared some of my favorite posts on this thread with my friend. I was trying to get her to understand just how ridiculously old the current Mac hardware is and how passionate people have gotten about the impending updates.

Her reply: "lol what nerds"

Anyone know where one might find new friends?

No idea, I wouldn't necessarily expect to see them today. There's been very little chatter/rumors on a media event. Prior events, had a lot of chatter of it occurring.
