i thought the macrumors article a few weeks ago (https://www.macrumors.com/2016/09/28/late-october-macbook-pro/ ) basically implied that they'd have 10.12.1 on them?

That might have been their original intention, but if they're still churning out betas now, I'm skeptical that we'd have a same-day release with 10.12.1 on them if they want to make the end of October. Of course, MBPs are made in much lower volumes than iPhones, so maybe they can install it with a fast turnaround.

[doublepost=1476211347][/doublepost]I just emailed Mark Gurman. Asking when the event will be.

Anyone think he will respond to me?

No. If he knew, he'd write an article on Bloomberg.

but if he doesn't know, but has a gut feeling, he may let me know what he thinks?? haha

You guys forgot a level not sure where it falls in the scheme of things. How about
Leaving your iPad on your desk with the forum 'spy' page running continuously, watching for everyone's post in real time.
:)
Why didn't I think of this before...

Alright guys I figured it out.

... There is another group of tech folk desperately waiting news of a much rumoured product ...

... One of the most beloved leaders of that company appeared on stage at the last Apple keynote ....

... it is clear Apple has lost interest in the Mac. Even if we get an update (hahahaha) they are so infrequent, and the yearly macOS updates so minor, "The Mac" is at clearly the bottom of the interest pile for Apple. The only updates we get are to dumb down the product ...

... the reason Apple introduced this other leader was to gauge the reaction, and it was overwhelmingly positive ...

... thus Apple is going to stop making the Mac completely ....

... Are you getting the picture ? .... Its not three separate devices ..... It is three revolutionary devices in one ..... ITS A COMPUTER .... ITS A CONSOLE .... ITS PORTABLE ....

... Thats right.

.... The much anticipated much rumoured much discussed much delayed unveiling of the Nintendo NX .... The much anticipated much rumoured much discussed much delayed unveiling of the Apple Macbook ...

INTRODUCING THE NINTENDO MACBOOK NX.

Apple will continue to make the darwin underpinning of the macOS, but thats it. Nintendo will be responsible for the hardware and interface. The much maligned Mac App Store will go away, to be replaced by loveable Nintendo Cartridges.

Apple continues to dumb down macOS. Introducing macOS 10.13 Puddle Pond

The New New (little joke for you nintendo folk there) NINTENDO MACBOOK NX

Hey man the mac can't even multi-task anymore ... Sure, but its has ZELDA !!

*MIC DROP* (onto my foot)
This was entertaining.

I have to ask, what are you doing that requires more than 32 GB of RAM? Not trying to be a dick, I am actually curious, how much RAM do you need?

Why on earth does this question always get asked... Just because you don't need as much RAM doesn't mean other people don't. The same as a dedicated video card or even a higher resolution display. Certain tasks require it and certain ones don't.

I was just thinking the same thing
[doublepost=1476214840][/doublepost]So the current Xeon E5s in the current Mac Pros are Haswell right? Or are they older?

Haswell!? Why would you think Apple is bleeding edge. No, they're rocking the ancient Ivy Bridge. Which is the same architecture my 2012 rMBP is using.

kind of expected this to be rising more than it is...
glad I found you guys, or I'd think I was just an isolated lunatic.
Surprised to see hardly any decline in the last 5 years, despite the lack of any new products for a few years now.

I'm sure there's still going to be some type of announcement this month. The Airpods show a release date of "Late October" on Apple's website. Maybe they'll add that into the event as well.
If they update the launch date of the AirPods without any accompanying piece of information regarding new Macs, then we're screwed.

I wish my usage was as low as yours.

Fair enough. I've been waiting for around 2 years now. Starting to get a bit tired of my early 2011 which had the graphic card issue and had it replaced when Apple finally recognised there was an issue. Since then, it's been overheating... but it's usable... until the new one...
