Give him time - he's probably researching the question to get you the best response possible.Mark Gurman did not respond to my email, FYI
How many of you expect an ( Oct Event ) ..?
To me, if Apple did not hold a Mac event before the earnings call, then they could defend declining Mac sales as due to interest in iPad Pros for computing - rather than lack of updates.
This way they can more smoothly introduce people to the idea of dropping the Mac line entirely over the coming years.
Confirmed: no new Macs before earnings call.
Serious question:
in the last few years, or ever, has Apple ever had an earnings call before an event but after the invites were sent out?
It seems odd to have an the earnings call in the middle of that limbo period, where it is obvious apple is going to release new products, but apple is still tight lipped on them. There would be an elephant in the room during the conference call, Apple will not mention products or changes that are happening during their predictions or QA. But everyone on the call investors and such will know that apple is going to unveil new products. in 48 hours
Would put the base model 15 inch at about two grand. The moment they are selling a notebook for two grand with Intel Graphics is the moment you start shopping elsewhere.
If they add 2tb to the macbook pro will that mean lower prices for 1tb? Or would they just make the 2tb hella expensive
So if before the call, that means invites would have to go out very soon.... this week.thats true, it owuld be very awkward and unusual in that call. hopefully this means that we get an event before the earnings report (although ill admit that i dont know whether that makes sense for Apple or not)
Which is already the case in Norway. Current exchange rate and you are well above £2000 for the base model 15.
Pricing isn't only dictated by exchange rates of course, but my guess is that the new 15 will come in at 1999 at the cheapest. I would guess more.

Yea I suppose. 5 million macs sold last quarter. say this year end apple refreshes the entire line and has an all new line up of redesigned and latest and greatest macs. I bet the amount of macs sold in a quarter will be like maybe 5.5 million.Honestly, I don't think investors could care less about the Mac, it hardly moves the needle in the great scheme of things.
the hope is that its a typo.Currently on the front page : "According to rumors, Apple is planning to introduce a revamped MacBook Pro as soon as next month"
And I was told I was wrong for basically saying it's not happening this month and tomorrow it's going to be yet another rumor
Anyway, still hope for the ones who are still waiting that you will get them soon !
but he also was on that one interview, where he adamantly said they're being announced in october.Don't think it is a typo necessarily. Pretty sure that was how Mark Germans last report worded it. "As early as October "
It's about as much revenue for Apple as the entire line of iPads, last I checked, so I'd say it's fairly important to investors (at least the ones who are halfway-decent at what they do).Honestly, I don't think investors could care less about the Mac, it hardly moves the needle in the great scheme of things.

As an investor, wouldn't you be intrigued as to why Apple has dropped the ball on Macs?
Only the Mac 12" has had a (bump) update.
The iMac's a year old.
The MBP 1 1/2 years old
The MBA ~1 1/2 years
The Mac Mini 2 years.
The Mac Pro currently 2 months shy of 3 years since refresh.
What does that say about the company and it's stock? It might only be 10% of the company, but if Apple can't excel on multiple fronts, what does that hold? Are they giving up, or worse, just leaving product lines to wither?
