According to this listing of Apple events, listing every event going back to 1998, Apple has never had an October event past the mid point of October.

WTF is Apple doing to the Mac line ?
This is your original post, saying "Apple has never had an October event past the mid point of October.

Not sure if I count Oct 15, 16th, and Oct 13th past the midpoint of October. They are the mid point of October. Plus for any of those events the invites would of gone out near the beginning of October.

Ah well, its all throwing rocks at the sky at this point. Apple is as likely to announce a complete iPod refresh along side the Mac one its been so long.
You got the invite days confused with the actual event days. Oct 15,2013, 16th,2012 and 13th,2010 were the days the INVITES were sent, not the days the event was HELD. Now, let's go on the very site you linked and look at the dates for the october events for 2013, 2012, and 2010.

October 22, 2013 Event -"We Still Have A Lot To Cover."

October 23, 2012 Event -"We've got a little more to show you."

October 20, 2010 Event- "Back to the Mac."

These events were ALL past the midpoint of October, which is obviously October 15,16 since it is a 31 day month.

Literally go on the site you've linked and look for yourself. The INVITES were sent 7 days prior(obviously), but they were ALL sent later 10/12, which is today, so what is your point? They were sent October 13,2010, October 16,2012, October 15,2013. They were all october dates later than today, respectively, meaning obviously there is still a week's worth window for the invite to be sent.

The OLED touch bar might be interesting but hoenstly, if that is the only "killer feature" that the 15" inch macbook pro brings, I'll be disappointed. Thinner, lighter, and USB-C just wont do it for me anymore. I love my 2012 rMBP and speed wise, it's plenty snappy. I use to upgrade my macbook pro's every year until the mid 2012 mbp. Since then they've had two marginal refreshes. One from IVB to HSW and a small HSW clockspeed bump.

I feel like anything short of the 15" macbook pro coming with a full OLED display, not just the touch bar, I'll be disappointed.

Apple Mac shipments slide 13% in Q3

All was totally preventable. If this was any other tech company, someone would have been fired over this.

Apple has been using 5-year old tech in their Macs, and they still managed only a 13% slide? I'm impressed. There must be a lot of ignorant new Mac owners out there, and these guys are the reason why Apple has been in no rush to update any of their products. Keep in mind that for the past 5 years, all of the components have been getting cheaper for Apple to acquire, so a 13% slide in shipment doesn't mean that Apple is making 13% less. It's quite the contrary!

While we're all waiting I'll tell you something funny. The other day a friend of mine forgot his iPhone headset (the new standard version) in some clothes that were put in the washing machine and washed at a temperature of 60 degrees C (140 F) for 90 minutes, plus the spin-dry as well.

Emptying the washing machine and realising what happened the headset was hung to dry with the clothes. Finally dried he plugged them into his iPhone and they worked perfectly!

Both the headset and the sound from them was very clean he said.

Don't try that with you MBP :) just to make this post little bit less OT.

Oops !! Thanks for the correction !

I think that was /s...although I'm so delusional at this point that I totally agree. Baseless, unfounded rumor from a completely unverified source? SIGN ME UP!

So are we expecting to be able to order on the day of the announcement? or the day after the announcement?
Then they would ship same day or next day right?

Unverified, yes, but not baseless nor unfounded. It's quite likely that Chinese workers assembling the MBP have access to a forum to read and share stuff. The whole production and supply chain where millions are manufactured are sitting near Chinese cities, don't forget. If anything, we here in U.S, Europe, or Australia are the most likely to be left in the dark.

but why would the manufacturing team, know anything about invite/event dates?

Someone asked this on Reddit recently. I can't remember the specific answer, but it was basically same day/next day. The only question is whether you'd be placing a PRE-order, or an actual order. I don't think Apple has been consistent in the past about shipping the day after an event vs. announcing, then shipping a few weeks later.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I wholly believe that was just speculation, an educated guess, just like what we all are doing on MacRumors. Don't forget, this forum is also comprised of true leaks, speculation. I don't suspect any different on a Chinese forum built for Macbook enthusiasts. Logically, leaks pertaining to the chassis or functions of the MBP are very, very plausible. The whole damned supply chain is located near Chinese cities. Shenzhen and Chengdu(where many computers are manufactured), along with a few other cities, are huge cities! Trust me, I'm Chinese American and I've been. However the natural course of conversation after would be "Hmm.. I wonder what day the invite/event will be", so they speculate just like us.

It's unfair to hold them to such high regard and then nitpick everything they say. Don't forget, we're all just forums for rumors. Some of what they say might be correct, because they are much more likely to receive remote and individual rogue leaks (hundreds of thousands of workers in China, coupled with millions of Macbooks produced), and some are just speculation.

I just looked at wwdc 2012
when the rMBP was released, it looks like it was shipping 'today' or atleast thats what Schiller said at the keynote.

It's possible they would need to know in order to be ready to ship. I agree though, seems unlikely.

I'm still skeptical that it's the 27th, I don't buy the earnings call explanation. The only thing that supports it for me is Gruber explicitly calling out the date like that, but previous October events have been closer to the 20th. Just wishful thinking on my part though :)
