"We've got something new for you to touch" if they call it the Touch Bar.

No no no, please, not the 'touch' thing. ANY word but that. Maybe the Internet has polluted my once-innocent mind, but hearing any somewhat-secretive sentence involving 'touch' brings to mind SO many inappropriate jokes. If they do that I won't be able to take this release seriously.

Sounds a lot like March 2012 Event:

I'd go for: "The wait is finally over"; and a row of Apple Logos. (Thanks God I'm not a publicist, I would suck)

No no no no no, they should just reuse this one, because its the TRUTH and thats that (preach sista)

It's almost getting to the point that the only thing that will get me to buy the new MBP (if there is one) is if they come on stage and say something like "the reason we haven't updated our Mac lineup in 3 years, is courage". I will giggle and place my order.

Can I go buy the current gen rMBP 13 and return it when the invites go out? I heard the return policy is something like 15 days, will it be too much trouble to do this.
I'm doing that with a Windows laptop right now, except I bought from Costco and so i have a 90 day return policy.

what's up with the march 2017 thing? Is there a reason Nov/Dec/Jan/Feb are out, or was March mentioned specifically somewhere?

My take, November = US elections and US Thanksgiving. December = Holliday shopping season, too late. January and February is the post Holliday debt shock, no one buys big ticket items. So that leaves March.

I just don't like when people are jerks with the equipment. I got an "Opened Box" rMBP 15/15 and the only thing that sucked was that the Battery Cycle Count was at 15 when I first powered it on. What a jerk. Dude bought it, and charged it overnight and used it all day unplugged until it drained all the way then wash rinse repeat for the 2 week return period. It's like of all things you couldn't leave it plugged in knowing you were going to take it back? Ass!

He said to himself what do I care about the battery, I am just going to return it, let's see how long it lasts day in and day out on a stress test! Ass!

Doesn't really bother me too much because I will be using it on the couch mostly and not even using the battery, my last MacBook Pro 2011, I had like a 75 battery cycle count.

Just pisses me off the guy stress tested the battery most likely with no intent of keeping it...

How about this: if the next update of the MBP is in March 2017, I will buy you a MBP of your choice. If it is in October, you buy me a MBP of my choice.

That's what I want to see too.

But then there is a problem, the 12" rMB starts at $1300. so this 15w rMB would start at atleast that or higher maybe 1400/ 1500.

a 1400/1500 machine doesn't really replace a 999 machine.
Though maybe apple no longer wants to have a 999 mac. and wants their cheapest mac to start at 1300.
this could drive more iPad pro sales.
I could see this happening
I already thought about this. I'm expecting something like this:
What do you guys think the pricing line-up will look like after a refresh? This is the current 256GB line-up:
$1.099: 11" MBA / 13" classic MBP
$1.199: 13" MBA
$1.299: 12" rMB
$1.499: 13" rMBP

If we get a new 13" rMBP and a new 13" MB(A), I suspect that:
  • New 13" rMBP 256GB will start at $1.399
  • New 13" rMB(A) 256GB will come in at the current price point of the 12" rMB
  • Current 12" rMB price will drop with $100
  • Current rMBP will remain as "classic rMBP 128GB" at $1.099 (hopefully with Skylake upgrade)
  • No more 11" MBA
We'll then have this line-up:

$1.099: 13" rMBP 128GB
$1.199: 12" rMB 256GB
$1.299: 13" rMB(A) 256GB
$1.399: 13" rMBP 256GB

15" rMBP price point will remain unchanged (perhaps base storage 512GB?).

This would be a simple line-up than I can live with and makes sense :). What do you guys think? I know I'm speculating a whole lot, but it's not like another Serban discussion is adding much value to this thread anyway.

You could consider buying a new one if the risk of a tested battery pisses you off that much. Apple has a 14 day return policy for this reason I think and has come in very useful for me. It allows you not to make a mistake on your purchase and is in the top 5 reasons why I am a loyal customer. Maybe the battery life was not good enough for them so they returned - you don't know.

We don't get similar treatment like this by most other retailers in Australia [Microsoft have a similar policy] and as such gives me a lot more confidence buying from companies like this.
If you dont like your computers used - don't buy used, no point whinging about it.

I think here in U.S., 14 day return period is actually the lowest one offered. Everywhere has at least a 14-day return period, and many have even more. For example, Microsoft has a 30-day return period here.
