Hey you asked for it!

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! @Uni Grad, dude you're classic! :D

I think here in U.S., 14 day return period is actually the lowest one offered. Everywhere has at least a 14-day return period, and many have even more. For example, Microsoft has a 30-day return period here.

that is really good! I won't buy certain products simply because of the poor returns. Also having a store presence like Apple helps a lot. We have Samsung stores too here [don't know their policy as I don't set foot in the store for their plastic crap] - I bet they are busy with their returns :D

Going to try to ask a serious question one more time as it seems like it was completely ignored the last time as it didn't have anything to do with guessing October, March, June, or September. So here goes....

I am waiting for the new MBP but the question I have is should I just buy the standard higher end config or should I do what I was considering and upgrade the processor and the HDD? I am going to use it for some video stuff and also do some things for work. I might also play a little World of Warcraft on it but not a lot as I really don't play that to much anymore.

I also want this to last for awhile and not have to upgrade anytime soon. One of my primary things is the HDD space on the laptop. I am paying for the 200GB iCloud drive as well. So any serious recommendations on what to do when the MBP finally becomes available would be greatly appreciated.

Still waiting hoping my 2+ year old 3rd party battery replacement does not blow on my face on my 2008 unibody.

I also just realized that I don't live in the US and if say they do release new MBP at the end of Oct., for me that means I will not be able to buy it until at least end of Nov. o_O
That is... if we don't face any stock shortages due to high demand.

Same. 256GB with iCloud would be enough for me. Not everyone needs that 2 TB storage option ;)

I never understood how this works. So you store your 100s of GBs lke media on the cloud and just upload them and redownload them? Not only is that going to take a lot of time, it will also strain your monthly ISP limit which I believe for most people its limited to around 500GB-1TB

My ISP limit is about 150gb per month.

You got ignored because we don't really have enough information...how much space do you use now on your computer? Are you OK with using Optimized Storage to save space, in congunction with your iCloud account? Much of this comes down to personal choice.

I would, however, forget about processor bumps. They aren't noticeable and aren't worth the money. Of course, if you want a lot of HD space you might need to upgrade anyway, because they lock some storage upgrades in them...

So who thinks invites will go out tomorrow or next thursday? Because it's probably either of those for this month if we are gonna have an event or whatever.

They are coming tomorrow (today?); I have a feeling. ;)

DISCLAIMER:
I take no responsibility if that doesn't happen and you feel a profound disappointment and hatred towards Apple.

I look up to you too. Fxkh apple at this point. In my eyes they deserve everyone buying them the last 6 months a refund

It's a community service. The stock is reduced by one so one fewer person will buy an outdated computer. (I know that's not the way it works, but I like think about it that way).

This. Cloud storage still requires downloading and plenty of bandwidth. Not to mention it won't be accessible sometimes. My iPad is already nearly maxed out on storage; I kinda wish I had gotten a larger model. For the MBP, I will be getting the largest storage capacity available.

So I contacted applecare last week to see how many repairs these jerks (apple) have done on my laptop over the last few years (I have 3 years applecare) and it's been 7 repairs. Next time I take my macbook pro in they have to replace it for sure (JERKS)!!!!!

I want 1tb ssd on my next laptop but when I trade mine in for a new one I don't want to pay the difference, I will convince them that they owe me. I had a replacement twice now already. 2009 version to 2011 and then 2011 version replaced with a 2013 version (retina) (something like that). I want to go from 500gb to 1tb. I think my 2009 had about 120gb (or whatever) and then the 2011 had about 250gb then my 2013 now has 500gb. So I am convinced that I can convince them the upgrade it to a 1tb. I'll offer to pay the difference and if lucky they'll just upgrade it for free without the fee. WOO HOO! So in 2009 when I paid about $1,200 for a macbook (non-pro) open item from Best Buy I now have an $1,800 laptop.

My gut tells me that invitations will be out on Thursday next week (since Timmy is in Japan?), but I'm happy to hear 'em today as well (9AM where I live).

I need to have a contigency plan. In case no MacBook Pros are released this month (please don't do this Apple), I think that I may pull the trigger on the base 15" model. I need a laptop for school...

Short answer: yes. Longer answer: unlike your post it IS possible to store your files a bit smarter. I store the files which I use often on the SSD. The other files will find their place in iCloud.

Besides, I don't have an ISP limit. My ISP handles a fair-use policy. So I can easily redownload files all the time without any consequenses. On my 500 Mbits fiber connection it won't take that long either.

I already thought about this. I'm expecting something like this:
The new rMBP will start at $1699 for the 13", likely at the 256/8 configuration. The old rMBP started at that same price when it first came out and given Apple's hunger for profit margins and the new cost of the OLED panel, I don't see them changing this.

If I was going to buy a new one I would want the price to be lower, but in my case I hope the 1tb version costs at least $2,400 so I can resell it when they replace my current defective one.

Are you betting on them completely replacing the current rMBP? I wonder if they will pull a cMBP and keep the model up for people who need HDMI, USB, and SD.

You could consider buying a new one if the risk of a tested battery pisses you off that much. Apple has a 14 day return policy for this reason I think and has come in very useful for me. It allows you not to make a mistake on your purchase and is in the top 5 reasons why I am a loyal customer. Maybe the battery life was not good enough for them so they returned - you don't know.

We don't get similar treatment like this by most other retailers in Australia [Microsoft have a similar policy] and as such gives me a lot more confidence buying from companies like this.
If you dont like your computers used - don't buy used, no point whinging about it.
Yeah I'm not really bitchin' I just think people should treat machines nicely in any case. They're people too :p

They'll replace it for a new one, I know it. I'll convince them again and again.
