This guy has done a great video, on some of the pro and cons of a 2015 13inch versus the rumored 2016 13 inch macbook pro.

Overall I fully agree with him, design, keyboard, trackpad and connectability are fine leave them alone! The only thing Apple needs to do is upgrade the specs.

Removing the macsafe connection and more ports, adding a worse keyboard just to make it thinner and lighter would have to be one of the dumbest decisions since removing the 3,5 headphone jack from the newest Iphones.

It's probably unlikely but out of the corner of my eye while my wife was watching The Good Place episode Tahani Al-Jamil I seen a black MacBook pro. The keyboard area was Space Grey, the screen border was black as was the bottom/back. The Apple logo on the back of the screen was intact and just below the screen didn't have MacBook written on it. Do you think they could be do a black option? This didn't look anything like the old models.

So I contacted applecare last week to see how many repairs these jerks (apple) have done on my laptop over the last few years (I have 3 years applecare) and it's been 7 repairs. Next time I take my macbook pro in they have to replace it for sure (JERKS)!!!!!

I want 1tb ssd on my next laptop but when I trade mine in for a new one I don't want to pay the difference, I will convince them that they owe me. I had a replacement twice now already. 2009 version to 2011 and then 2011 version replaced with a 2013 version (retina) (something like that). I want to go from 500gb to 1tb. I think my 2009 had about 120gb (or whatever) and then the 2011 had about 250gb then my 2013 now has 500gb. So I am convinced that I can convince them the upgrade it to a 1tb. I'll offer to pay the difference and if lucky they'll just upgrade it for free without the fee. WOO HOO! So in 2009 when I paid about $1,200 for a macbook (non-pro) open item from Best Buy I now have an $1,800 laptop.
Shouldn't it be after the 3rd repair? They swapped out my white macbook for that chipping issue 3 times and then swapped it for my macbook pro

Not quite I took some screenshots. The show never gave a shot that showed the trackpad though.

That looks like a normal cMBP with some sort of aftermarket black finish on the lid. The image is so under exposed that the silver looks a little like space gray.

It was the best shot I could take, the scene was quite dark and it was DVR'd with Windows Media Center.

Personally I think they might drop all the extra ports for USB-C / thunderbolt 3 and update the old rMBP to similar internals processor and RAM wise. That way they are pushing forwards with the latest ports and tech whilst keeping their customers who want the old ports happy. The did it with the iPhone 5SE as plenty of people like that size of phone. It doesn't make much sense to leave the current generation of pros with the old spec when they can update them and keep more people happy.

The most likely timeline:

  • Next Tuesday - macOS Sierra 10.12.1 is released
  • Next Thursday - invites are sent out to the press
  • A week later - MBPs are announced, we all jump on preorders, those who caved are now regretting it
  • Next Friday - "It's Happening! memes, detailed analysis of our shipping estimates, comparing custom configs etc"
  • Another week later - default configs start arriving, unboxing videos posted, those of us who ordered custom builds angry at ourselves, we could already have had our new MBPs in our hands!
  • Yet another week later - custom configs start arriving, us angry at those who got their build earlier despite ordering a minute later
  • More custom configs arrive within the mid-November timeframe, jump to Waiting for Cannonlake MBP Thread (@bfid111 :)

I'll just buy it at the physical Apple store (20 minutes from home) so there will be no waitting :D.

Good video and one that echos some of my concerns of the next MBP, i.e., thinness at the expense of ports

Where I live is 11:34 AM at the moment.

So if by 9PM nothing shows up, we are pretty much screwed, right?

Here is 1.05 PM! And I'm waiting for the metro waiting for Skylake waiting for the damn invites.
Actually, my life is stuck in an eternal wait.

So you dont want them to change the design and you dont want them to remove any of the i/o. Why don't you just buy the current model? It isn't as if Skylake is going to offer anything crazy in performance improvements.

Because buying 3yo hardware for a full price seems...wrong?
