The current dgpu in the 15 inch cant even run Overwatch well at high settings, what makes you think the skylake igpu can when its around the same performance or even weaker? It can only get 60fps with low settings which is pretty bad

There is a video floating around of a dell xps 13 running overwatch at 30 fps (by no means super amazing, but not bad either) on integrated graphics

EDIT: @WRONG already posted it

Guys do you think, that Apple will continue to offer BTO-options or adopt the tier system as known from the rMB?

Like, for example, low tier with 16GB/256GB, mid tier with 32GB/512GB/faster CPU and top tier with 32GB/1TB/even faster CPU with dGPU?

I think they'll stick to BTO.

i also not gaming on the MBPr but i understand that some maybe like to play,
and why not ? its possible

True, but the MBP struggles to maintain good temps for CPU alone, not even talking about a CPU and a dGPU, gaming on the MBP is a sure way to shorten its lifespan, especially with the new, thinner design.
It can reach 70+C when compiling iOS apps alone.

If it dies, Apple has to replace it. Simple as that. And I'm quite optimistic since my 15" late 2013 is still running fine despite countless hours of Football Manager and CPU temperature well above 100°C and the graphic card also at high temperatures.

Honestly, I find it laughable that people want to game on the MBP, you can get an aluminium, thin gaming laptop with 32GB of RAM and the GTX 1070(!) for the same price as the MBP if gaming is your thing...

So if I want a MBP and something to play games on I have to spend double the price of a MBP and carry two laptops at the same time? People that want to game on the MBP aren't buying it only to play games if that's what you think.

My 8 years old laptop has an idle temp of about 65-70C, playing a YouTube video at 480p will kick it up to 85C and playing a game like LOL on lowest possible settings will make the temperatures reach 95C before the laptop suddenly shuts down. I've used this laptop for 8 years now. I don't think a high quality MBP will have any problems regarding its lifespan just because of higher temps. It should be designed to handle that kind of load.

I am not an avid gamer anymore and when I used to game a lot, it was rarely on a laptop. I may be wrong but my very limited experience of gaming suggests that the screen size of 13 and 15 inch laptops does not allow the incremental benefits of higher resolutions and higher settings. Once again, I may be wrong here. One thing I am sure however, is that when lost in the gameplay, one does not (at least I don't) notice a relatively small increase in settings. Yes, while watching others play, one does notice these things!

Not if it dies outside the warranty period they don't.

Yeah basically :)
In a year or two, games will stop supporting OpenGL and switch to Vulkan, so even if the temps and GPU were fine, you'd still be forced to do that, unless all you play is old stuff.

Apple puts an unnecessary emphasis on thin and quiet, both of which are the enemy of AAA gaming and component lifespan, I agree that it should be designed to handle the load, but it usually isn't.
Forget any kind of VR.

Poor CPU :-(

They're designed to handle it fine for short periods, long term the CPU degrades.

It's all a matter of balance. The 15" MBP+dGPU has traditionally done a good job of balancing battery life, performance and noise levels. It won't let you play the latest high-end games at ultimate, but they do ok for most gaming. If gaming is your first priority, then sure, get a Razer Blade or a RoG. But there are a lot of us for whom gaming is one of several priorities, and we're willing to compromise somewhat.

News from the factory that the previous rumor of the 13'' of NO OLED 13'' MBP is TRUE.
The leak message of the worker said that the 13'' MBP will come with two versions one is NO OLED the other is with OLED and the 15'' ONLY HAVE OLED version.
And what's more the event will be on 27th in the so called insider's message.
And the track pad won't support APPLE pencil and there will be an unknown update of the screen on new MBP!
Hope this time the rumor is right.... X__X

Is it possible that the 13" without OLED touch bar is actually an Air?
Or maybe they're getting rid of the Air and replacing it with a lower-cost 13" MBP?
Previously people guess that it was an Air but the chassis has printed Pro on it. And rumors said that there will be no more Air because the nMB is thinner than the "Air". And there will be a 13'' nMB.... So we'll see what Apple is really doing on 27th..... Still kind of mysterious......

There's no way they'll have an MBP version without the OLED bar, because nobody would buy the version that has it. Seriously, if you had a choice of spending an extra $100 to get the OLED bar, would you? No, I didn't think so.

Why would Apple introduce a non-OLED MBP? It doesnt make any sense, unless it's an Air as a_coorn says. Is it the same source as your previous leak? Because I can repeat my remark about manufacturing workers and event dates then...

Hope this rumore is real/true and not for the spec but for the 27th... I am a little skeptical !

I like to do some casually gaming as well which is hard on a late 2008. You might want to look at external graphics cards that have come a long way. People have been using them on older mac with thunderbolt 1 and 2 with good results. They have been getting more sophisticated in the past year with become more of a docking station.

I will use my new Mac as a part time gaming computer because I travel a lot for work and hard to find something on tv most of the time. I will definitely be looking at external GPUs for more power.

Can I trust you? You've already broken my heart once...:(

In all seriousness though, having 2 versions of the 13" sounds kinda odd. Apples laptop lineup is already confusing enough. You'd think they want to streamline their lineup as much as possible. Not to mention, a cheaper MBP would probably conflict with sales of the MacBook.

I'm a little sad to see that Apple Pencil support is out. Though I'm sure pairing the Pencil to the MBP would have been a headache since there's no lightning port. I would like like to see Apple use the pencil for more products than just the iPad. Perhaps they'll come out with a new version of the Magic Trackpad that supports the Pencil.

A new 13" replacement for the Air wouldn't be odd imo.

Edit: At page 1170....keep it up guys, I'm enjoying reading this on my 15 inch dell XPS. :)

In all seriously, I'm expecting the oled bar on the 13 inch as well, it will be stupid of Apple to just have on the 15 inch as probably 75% or higher will be buying the 13 inch due to price and preference.

offence but after your last rumour, i refuse to believe this for so many reasons. One of which is that you're not telling us anything we didn't already know.
